G_skillz81
so, we're about to finish-up with my blowthrough here.... bed and cab are cut, seal installed, box is almost done with that in, and 4 Sundown Z18v2's my rear should drop down about 3-4" giving me a slight nose up rake.... so I'm looking at some way to drop the front to match - in my mind a 2' drop in the front will leave me level with enough supension travel and clearence to drive daily on our pretty rough roads.... What do guys think about the different options of dropping the front? 1 - 2" drop springs 2 - 2" drop lower control arms 3 - 2" lowering spindles from what little I know, spindles give the least negative effect on suspension travel and geometry. I am however inclined to go with the control arms since the come with bushings and I need to replace mines anyway (I have the hardest time finding any on-line retailer that sells the lower control arm bushings for 3G Rams with international shipping) - any drawbacks to these? how strong are most aftermarket control arms? the stock lower control arm on rams is beefy as hell what company to go with? DJM? Belltech? any others? Also... anyone have any experience with these - want to freshen up my front-end while I have it apart http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUSPENSION-DODGE-RAM-1500-02-05-BALL-TIE-ROD-ENDS-SWAY-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20b04ae5a2QQitemZ140396651938QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories or should i go with mopar or at least moog? I've actually heard DJM Direct mentioned before, so i searched for that the other day and found Tony on one of the S-10 forums... we're talking already, his price is better than anything I've seen on-line Shipping is looking to kill me though, the control arms are just under 60lbs and on-line USPS is quoting almost double the cost of the arms for shipping....to rephrase the old saying of something costing "an arm and a leg" - it costs an arm and an arm literally Quote 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 - Deep Orange Build log - Blowthrought with 4 18's http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/122600-4-18s-in-a-dodge-ram-team-sundown-russia/ Sundown Audio SAX125.2 - Sundown PA 10" Shok-wiring & RCA's XS Power D6500 Mechman 320A Sundown Audio Russia http://sundownaudio....dex.php?/index http://www.drive2.ru...ram/ram/skillz/ - more about my truck http://www.youtube.com/user/Gskillz81
JaM Customs aka mprete
you can also cut the front coils shorter and you wont have to change anything else. it is a good way to drop, there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing so. just remember for every half inch you cut off you drop 1 inch. that way you have stock ride quality and literally dont have to buy anything. hope this helps Quote 2001 dodge ram 2500 quad cab 5.9L V8 my build logs... dodge build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/94914-mpretes-2001-dodge-ram-2500-quad-cab-build-log/ trik build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/94447-trik-build/page__p__1298547__hl__trik__fromsearch__1entry1298547 box building thread- very cool designs (PICS!!!) http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/95713-2d-or-3d-box-pics/page__gopid__1318152entry1318152 i am a mechanic, pm me if you have questions or anything.
