weird question cannot figure this out

i have 2 btl 15's. they are "dual 2 ohm" how ever the coils read 1.5. I have read they are really dual 1.5's, no big deal.

I also read that the dual 1's read .75 each coil. im needing to recone mine into "dual 1's" cause my amps are only 2 ohm stable. im figuring that in series they will be 1.4ohm at the amp when its all said and done. Is this correct? will this be ok even though my amps are only 2ohm stable?

The amps are ap3k's. I tried to wire them at .75 mono today and they did not like that at all, almost instant protect, even rolling the volume up.

1.4 on a 2 ohm stable amp will be perfectly fine

The D2 BTLs are SUPPOSED to read 1.4-1.5 ohms. The D1s are .7 ohms

You'll be fine at 1.4 ohms on a 2 ohm amp. The amp went into protect because you wired the amp to .75ohms when its rated at 2 ohms.

Or maybe leave the subs intact and spend the money on an amp thats 1ohm stable instead. That would be my choice. You have nice subs and an OK amp. It will be a little more costly but much easier to do than 2 recones.
