Thing is, if you don't have recommended enclosure size for the sub then go with the next size down sub. Don't try to squeeze in the extra cone area if you don't have the power to back it up.

Alright, were running in circles now then. What amp or amps do you have or are planning on running? What vehicle is it going in?

if the subs aren't in the right enclosure, the subs will have loading problems I believe (someone verify) don't try an cram a sub in a small enclousure unless you are feeding it more power that rec.

Okay, so minimum requirement of a 200 amp alternator and say an optima yellow top or equivalent for electrical. Also the more drivers (woofers) you have hooked up the more "box rise" you'll have meaning the less power your amp will put out. If it were me, I would go with two 18's in that space so I could maximize system efficiency.
