2 18" DC lvl 5's 6KW of Sundown in a VW Lupo!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the good comments.... ill be cracking on with the port today.... going to take the advice been given to me on smd and use 18sq" of port area per cube... tuned to 35hz then ill use blockers to bring the tuning down for different competitions we have in the UK.

It's the biggest I can fit on my car without custom brakets and alternators.... if u have problems ill change it, the car is only a 1.4tdi so adding stupid amounts of alts will lead to no power. Been told ill be fine with the power I have as there are no big alt suppliers in the UK.

mechman makes a 270 amp alt for audi and vw just thought id let you know

Thanks dude... it might mean I have to order a big alt from the states and pay the import tax ect.... might see if I can get a dual alternator setup to fit in by little engine bay... there are a fair few people over here using Renault 210a alts which push out 250a... so if I could get a couple of these fitted it would be bang on.

Ports are built and test fitted... taken me all day but they are done!.

The port is 18.5sq" per cube tuned to 35hz... ill be using blockers on two of the sections to bring the tuning down to 25hz with 9sq" per cube.

Been working on the wall the past two days.... managed to get it all glassed and put the timber on which the baffle will screw to.

IMAG0363.jpg

Decided to rip the little box section out for the cable and put a 45 angle in.

Going to use bus bars + and - to bolt all the 0awg to for the 1500ds

Got the baffle cut today.... ran out of day light so couldn't cut the port holes and fit it. That's Tomorrows duties.

Test fit first 18mm

Broke my '18" sub cutout' virginity also :D :D

Test fit sub! Best fitting Cutout I've ever done, fits like a glove.

Doubled up!

Also had a nice package from Mr singh

IMAG0377.jpg

20m of fleks 8awg... this stuff looks good enough to eat! This is my sub cable BTW not my power lol.

Screwfix goodies.

Threaded inserts for the subs.

Port Hair dryer ftmft!

IMAG0402.jpg

Temp location for the amps.... gonna be a tight one to fit all four on the back, but ill figure something out.

Got the monster up and running today.

It's only getting 1/4 of the power atm as I'm using two 1500s @ 1.4ohm... but my god does it get loud. Lows are seriously impressive even tuned to 35hz... voltage doesn't drop past 13v on heavy long notes, still haven't installed the 180a alt and only running 4 6v cells.

Full power is going to be insane...

Roof is solid as you can see from the vid :D

Really happy with how flat it plays.... think if I put my new alt on should get 150 from 25-40hz.

Full power scores should be interesting. Once I have the other two 1500ds ill be tweaking about with bit to get that 20hz up.

Scores Propper Droppers format on 1500w

20hz - 143.6 / 146.1 with blocker

25hz - 149.1

33hz - 149.8

40hz - 148.6

Peak - 29hz @ 150.7

bolt on jobbie, fitted straight on with the same vag connector also. Voltage on songs with no breaks in the baseline below port tuning is now loads better.... increase in volume is hard to say to be honest.

Old 120a alt!

IMAG0409.jpg

Comparison, even the pully was the same! Win!

IMAG0410.jpg

IMAG0411.jpg

New shiney 180a alt on and sitting at 14.4v!

IMAG0412.jpg

Other two sundowns will be picked up on the 20th of feb!
