The trunks dimensions are L= 42'' W=36''-30'' H= 15'', would stripping the carpet out benefit me in any way? or would it be better to leave all the carpeting in?. my problem is i dont have much room to work with because its only 15'' high and towards the end of the trunk it gets quit thin...my question is, what are the pros and cons to stripping a trunk down to the metal. thanks.

My trunk is bare too, and ive thought about putting the carpet back in for looks, but i figure the sheet metal will let the sound bounce around more and thus be louder up front. 2006 Nissan Z Track. iceman1575 Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 If you are limited on space, you might as well go with sealing your trunk firing forward. I've heard use some tape where you're going to seal it so it doesn't affect your carpet. I have the same issue, and my next build will be firing forward. POTATO!

GTCharged Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I'm in a similar boat. I actually want to tear up my carpet to the steel and replace it with something else. The carpet just moves around with the sub on it, so maybe someone can give me tips on what to use instead? The sub likes to slide around, and I can't bolt it down, my gas tank is directly underneath my trunk. Suggestions? El1T3Bass Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 have the port and subs facing the cabin and seal it of... use tape, and spray foam to seal it off... there are plenty of great build logs on here that are perfect examples of how to do it. wow now this just shows that smd isnt just any forum.
