if i have 2 single 4 ohm subs and i hook them up to my amp i can just hook them up + to + and - to - and the amp will be powering them at 4 ohms right?

Woofer wiring is easy to remember as long as you think it through.

If you wire them in parallel (Amp to Woofer "A" Positive to Woofer "B" Positive & Amp to Woofer "A" Negative to Woofer "B" Negative) you always half your impedance.

If you wire them in series (Amp to Woofer "A" Positive, Woofer "A" Negative to Woofer "B" Positive, Woofer "B" Negative to Amp Negative), you always double your impedance.

So the more positives you link, the lower the impedance goes.

i think u guys miss understood... i want them powered at 4 ohms not 2

edit: and i got these 2 12" mtx thunder 5000 but is there anyway to tell if they r 4 ohm or 8 ohm? cuz there arnt any stickers or anything on the bottom by the magnet saying what they r... and ide like to know before i blow em cuz i just got a amp from a friend for very cheap

get a dmm and check the ohms. if they are single 4 ohm woffers the only way to get a 4 ohm load would be to run each sub on its own channel. if they are single 8 ohm wire them in parallel to get a 4 ohm load. if in the rare case that they are single 2 ohm wire in series to get a 4 ohm load

they're 4 ohms and i have them both bridged on the same channel atm cuz when i got the amp it only had 2 screws for the terminals but i got 2 more so ill prolly fix it in the morning.
