xxlbigboono Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I have a 2000watt amp and 2 15's well i hooked the 2 15's up and they were beatin hard but then i get arrogent and decide to hookup my 2 10's aswell and it all worked for about 10 seconds and then it just quit, The power wire is like 14 gauge i can put it against metal and no spark with the car on does that mean my power wire is fucked or whats up lol please help

Guest Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 why would you want to hook up 2 different sized woofers together anyway? and yeah you more than likely dropped the ohm load too low and kicked the amp into protection or even worse, fried the amp. what kind of 2000 watt amp is it? model number would help out greatly. and you can check the fuse yourself. most amplifiers have fuses near/next to the power wire input. pull it out (if its there) and look at it through the little looking panel. if the little wire in there is intact, then its fine. if its not intact, replace it and dont hook up those 2 10's and 2 15's together ever again.

True sorry, I dont have a DMM but if its too low how can i fix it haha sorry im a noob at this just trying to learn :/ how can you fix it? for one, dont wire 2 different subwoofer sizes together ever again. two, make sure the ohm load will be compatible with your amp. three, make sure your subwoofers have the same voice coils. as in, if you have two subwoofers, make sure they are both dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm or whatever. not one is dual 4 ohm and the other is dual 2 ohm, that wont work.
