t-money Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 ok so i have a 2003 focus i bought the 55w hid bi-xenon kit for from ddm. it worked great for a few months. but now one side doesnt always lite. i have to plug and unplug the ballest several times (like 50) b4 it will light. i thought it was just my kit. well i ordered a kit for my gf who has a 2003 focus and it is doing the same thing. neither of my roommates ddm kits do this. is there something up with the focus causing this? Guest Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 my friends DDM relay started to do this after his dad carelessly dropped it on the engine. he has like a 20-30% chance of both actually lighting up, but he just turns the lights on and off till the other one turns on (terrible for the bulbs but he doesnt care). i'd call up ddm to see if you can get a replacement relay or something. maybe its because of the cold also, you never know. BeatBox Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) get a relay with that? Edited January 13, 2011 by BeatBox Quote
Guest Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) get a relay with that? bi-xenon HID's (at least from DDM) have the relay that comes with a power harness that connects directly to the battery edit: that harness only works for single "filament" hid's. not bi-xenons. BeatBox Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 ahh i see, yeah id call them up. usually when that happened with mine was when i didnt have the relay but it was also on 9006 bulbs could be the ballast but i could be wrong. i had a bad ballast and would work sometimes and sometimes it wouldnt. Guest Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 back to my friends car, if you wiggle the harness connector (he has the one with the really wide white connector) the hid's shut off then turn back on, losing connection. that may be whats happening. not 100% sure. Quote
t-money Posted January 13, 2011 Author Report Posted January 13, 2011 no if i leave the switch on and plug the ballest in it buzzes and the red wire going to the light u can barly see it light up a purpleish color for about 5 seconds. then nothing.
