smitt808 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Share Posted November 17, 2009 ok so i have an Alpine mrp-m1000 hooked up to an MTX 9500 12", the power wire is 4ga and the speaker wire is 8ga, i have a big 3 done with 2ga and stock alt and battery and the deck is a Pioneer deh-p5900ib all connections are good and everything is hooked up right. now my problem is, i will be bumpin it for a while and it will sound good but then the amp gets really hot and cuts out to about half power and i have to let it cool down before it will work right again any ideas? xXxOuTLaWxXx Posted November 17, 2009 Report Share Posted November 17, 2009 what do you have the gain on your amp set at? sinnce your running a 5v pre amp you should have your amp gain set no higher than 1/4 of the way up. I see don't know much about his woofer so I was wondering. I've had three of the apline MRP modles the 800 or 850 I think and the 650's both the 650's would do this. Everthing hooked up right and set right running at two ohms. Never figured it out ended up upgrading to a bigger amp. Good luck Ill keep reading to see if I find anything for ya.
