You pay what we pay UPS to ship stuff.. Outside of that nobody else actually machines all of their steel parts in house and builds their woofers state side. You are getting a truly made to order piece...versus something that is pulled off the shelf which is why the Fi woofers tend to hold value a bit better...it's like ordering a custom car...except it is price competitive with the other products that simply aren't made here. But, whatever floats your boat.

No it wouldn't have a 'pole' in the bottom of it. That's a old BL. Most likely has a flatwind, can't really tell if it has full cooling or not unless you shine a flashlight in the holes and see scallops in the top plate and the 'bump' is black.

Stepping in here to correct the ill informed, so here we go. psssst. If it was that great...why would we even waste our time doing the SMD? We would just copy an XL and call it a day right? It would be much cheaper to do...and a heck of a lot easier...we've got all the parts and the machines to do it...lol. You also have absolutely no idea how the SMD works lol . Did you by chance do the testing on a watt to watt basis? Taking notes of the voltage and current and plotting out the impedance graph? You do understand with that much motor strength and linearity that your impedance shift during play is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off from 'normal' (XL) SGLC designs right? Why would we even waste our time in bringing supergauss into the car audio world? You also do not know that in a 'peaking' situation you are looking for a woofer that has LESS motor strength..something where the Qts shifts to .4 where you get your peak. That is why old SE's whipped the MT's in any street install...they simply peaked harder. The SMD is NOT AN SPL WOOFER...it isn't..it's not designed for it. It's very probable that something with 3 poly cotton spiders on it and a much lighter moving mass with a inherently weaker motor that will be proned to peaking..be louder in a 'burping' environment. That's not what the SMD is made for. It is made to beat the immortal piss out of for hours and hours on end with music and not break. In a daily driving, musical scenario there is absolutely no other woofer on the market that can even come close to the SMD. There are no 2 vehicles that are same in install...you cannot take a pinto piston and slap it into a kia rio and then slap it into a hummer and then into an old school airplane and then you say nope that piston sucks...you put it in every scenario except the one it was designed for. I'll put the SMD up against any other sub in a musical..daily driving..beat the immortal piss out of environment. We haven't had one break yet...not ONE...which will happen in due time because stupidity reigns supreme in these parts. Hope this brings things into perspective for you. No higher then 35Hz. Ideally 32-33Hz. Once you play below tuning your port unloads and the woofer goes to full excursion...the port is just a giant hole in the box it does not resonate. You snap surrounds and spiders at that point.

Just please don't play music on something tuned that high. You are going to burn the sub up.

Max rating is a marketing ploy and doesn't matter. RMS is all that matters...and we suggest it for a reason. Cooling tends to add 200-400 watts of additional power handling depending upon application..

There's nothing wrong with the packaging at all... Sometimes UPS is retardedly rough on packaging, we've had 3 damage claims in a year on the product...the point of packaging is to get the product there safe..without costing the consumer more money. That's a Konaki motor...definitely didn't make that one. Somebody really ganked that cone up and did some kind of funky leads on it... That's our basket though lol.

99% of the energy that you are putting into that coil is wasted heat...you only hear 1% of what you put into it. This causes your box to turn into a little oven...which causes temperature swings and changes the moisture content inside of the enclosures which make the motors 'sweat'.. Totally normal...nothing can be done about it. Chrome rusts..which is why we don't do chrome motors..not to mention its ugly too

It's for spacing issues as the baskets have different geometry. You snap spiders before you will hit anything on the 18" basket...the 12" and 15" basket have spacers on them.

I've already emailed you. What you have will work fantastic in a ported enclosure. The only reason we have the option is so the sub will have the ability to be ran in a sealed enclosure. If you do not have a Hqts motor then you cannot run it in a sealed box it will not sound good. You also cannot have an inductance ring without the HQTS motor. It does not mean that it is meant for sealed only. It turns it into a Mid Q woofer (which works fine in sealed and ported) instead of a Low Q woofer (which only works in ported). It will work fine. Relax.

Order an SX kit off of the website...everything on the "other recones" section is spelled backwards. ER XS is the one that you are looking for.
