Found out that it was the motherboard. I put in a different mobo and it boots up but when I try to install windows xp it says that there was an error loading the operating system. I have formated and retried but it never works. Does anyone know what it could be? I dont have another hdd to try another install on so maybe its just the hdd?

8KDA+PRO Epox mobo AMD Athlon 64, dont know the number on it though some kid gave it to me yesterday. Corsair Value Select ram (2x512) eVGA 6600GT video card I unpluged the rom drive, hdd, vga so that it would just power up the motherboard and nothing else, and it does the same thing.... the processor is in correctly, and the ram is seated properly... I thought that it was the motherboard in the beginning but took it to my computer teacher and he said that he thought it was the processor, I let him take the mobo home and he said that he put his processor on the motherboard and it worked fine. He said that he got into bios and everything, now I cant even get the damn thing to turn on...

I used this psu to power a dual core, 2 gigs of ram 2 hard drives, 2 rom drives and wireless internet + 6600GT AGP vga... It was good when I pulled it... Right now it is only trying to run a single core with 1 hdd, the 6600gt and 1 rom drive with 1 gig of ram... I dont understand... Ill try some of the stuff you guys mentioned...

I just basically rebuild another computer, and I go to turn it on and it turns on for a second then shuts off. Sometimes though (at random) it will stay on for like 15 seconds like it is going to boot up. but then shuts off as if someone pulled the plug.... Can anyone tell me what the problem is? The Mobo doesnt beep so I am guessing that the ram is fine... Is it the processor? Thanks. Cameron

Vacuum line lose? My mom had a mustang and a guy put a new A/C in it and knocked the line loose, it drove just to our house then when she went to turn it on it did something like that. It didnt shift out of 1st though, unless you went from 1-2-Drive, but it was on an automatic... Found the line, plugged it in and it ran perfect after that...

Well I thought about it and I dont want to go through the hassle of getting something that out dated and if something were to go wrong and I needed to return it and they didnt have any left then I would be screwed... So I am just going to get the 7950GT AGP (Last nvidia card made for AGP) 512mb GDDR3 memory with a little over 500Mhz core clock so it will be nice... 2 extra gigs on top of the gig I already have, Corsair XMS series of course, I wouldnt mind a new computer, but most of these things will keep me above water for the new games for a bit... Once that is done then this will be a FAST work computer hahaha.

I was wondering if I got 2 extra sticks of those 1gb sticks (making 2 gigs) and add it to my 2x512mb (1gig) machine right now would everything work out alright? I have my processor overclocked right now at 2.35Ghz and I have some other corsair RAM that isnt XMS and if I try to put that in with the XMS the processor cannot be overclocked. I was just making sure that if I bought that new ram if I could just pop it in and nothing changes...Except going from 1 gig of ram in this machine to 3 gigs... Thanks.

Well, I dont know why, but it isnt working... its DLed... but I can open the multiplayer, just not single player...

I was wondering how I could uninstall Direct X and reinstall a lower version. It wont let you install Direct X unless it is a higher version... I got Call Of Duty 4 and it requires at least DirectX9.0b but I have 9.0c and I was wondering if I would uninstall then re install if it would work.... anyone?

apparently the ps/2 port on the mobo is going out or something cause when I apply pressure downward (to the ground) the internal speaker beeps and it types shit, so i pressed it down pretty hard for a bit then it stayed or something cause now I can type!
