I have a 6" vinyl graphic banner across the top of my windshield and have troube seeing traffic lights that are blocked because of it. I came across one of these at a PT Cruiser site, but they can also be purchased off of ebay for ~$19. I thought I would post it here, might help some of you guys with lowered trucks, too! No more having to duck down in the seat to see when the light turns green! It's clear plastic, and removeable, goes on kinda like window tint. not my car, but you get the idea....

I'd actually prefer to run two seperate amps for the subs, like I am now, just more powerful, without having to add more electrical support. If anything I will probably end up moving back to the Hifonics line from Crunch.

A little north of my budget! IF I upgrade, it won't be until after tax return time! Probably end up with Hifonics amps that will bridge into 4 ohms. 1x 1200 watt amp per side, and a 4 channel amp for mids/tweets. Is Class D significantly more efficient that A/B???

Yeah, next time around, i plan to stack 3 amps in one rear footwell with 2 fans on them. Easy to build rack, and very easy to adjust them!

I am thinking 2x Crunch GP2500D, they are supposed to be ~1250 watts RMS. I need to learn more about how to rate efficiency and look at other comparable amps to this one, but you guys know I am a Hifonics addict.

I have 8 12" subs. 2 sets of 4 wired together, 4 ohms each. So I want two 4 ohm amps, or one 2 ohm amp.

I guess efficiency is the question. I want two amps that can do 1200 watts each @ 4 ohms, or one amp that can do ~2400 watts mono @ 2 ohms. Anyone want to comment on some low to mid priced amps that are very efficient? (I am headed into the SMD search engine).

What is the difference (in terms of power demand) between running two subwoofer amps at 4 ohms bridged mono each vs. running one large amp at 2 ohms bridged mono, given that the RMS wattage output is the same? Would either configuration draw less power from the car? **EDIT: Just thinkin....I have no plans....yet!

Thanks for the frequency check. That low note hurts my face after a while! I don't know what the higher note is, but it's beating up my door midbasses.

Thanks David, yeah that low note is significantly louder in the PT, too. Hopefully someone here knows or can test it to find out. I had forgotten about Techmaster until recently and downloaded some songs from iTunes.

Techmaster PEB - "Time to Jam" from the Bass Computer 2000 CD... Anyone know what frequency?

I saw that post here on SMD where someone built a Sonotube subwoofer for home theater but used a Quick-rete tube form Home depot instead. So I went and bought the tube, and will order a Dayton sub from parts-express next week. Question I have is on the thinner Quick-rete tube vs. a thicker 'actual' sonotube. I am not looking for window shattering bass for my small home theater, but is there a necessity to try to strengthen the quick-rete tube. I plan to add 2 extra MDF rings inside for some bracing, but what about lining the inside with fiberglass resin and cloth?? Also for a ported enclosure, is there an ideal tuning frequency for home theater use? All advice is welcomed!

The value of the car should not matter if its clean and well cared for, and a decent alarm is a must!

I'm sure you already know this, but deaden the doors, and you will want a strong fiberglass structure for them.

I don't think it would "look" like overkill, because it is a van door, if it was a small car door, I would say yes, try an 8"! Seems to me, you have to select the speaker based upon what it's gonna be playing, midbass or sub bass, and also need to decide if it must be the same brand as the subs (for looks). Not sure, but I think I read that Steve used a shallow mount RF sub in the Hoopty, and I have no idea which frequencies he is running to them. Check the depth of that sub before you start, and get an eye for where the ring will set with the door closed, so you can see exactly how far it will stick out, then design for the 6.5"s around it. I thought I wanted to try a pair of 8"s in my front doors, until I sat there measuring and visualizing them.

Alpine decks are designed to be run at 22, with help from everyone here on SMD, I discovered that my old alpine started to turn off it's bass engine at 23 through the speaker leads. 23 is where they start to distort.

Sorry, I read this as his sub box is resting on top of the folded seat, so I figured why not just get rid of the seat.

If you don't use your third row seats, why not remove them and use the bolt holes already there to bolt the box to the floor?

Compare your bed measurements with other trucks, maybe a newer truck cover might fit? Another idea, way back in high school, I friend of mine had his dad build him a wooden frame and plywood top that was covered over in vinyl, it just dropped into the bed, looked nice.
