Seriously though. That stuff is essentially clog-all. What is a simple head gasket job will turn into a major overhaul to try and get all the old crap out

I've seen it happen. Put in some stop leak to fix head gasket. End up having to replace radiator and heater core.

And water pump, and tstat, and all soft hoses. Sometimes you need to do a bunch of work flushing out the various lines within the block too because it clogs them as well
