I wouldn't mind lvl 4's but my budget keeps rising at this rate it'll keep growing and i wont ever buy anything.. I started with $2k budget then $3k, now im a little above $4k. But i've considered it a lot but if i up the sub's i'll need to up the amp too. That'll be my second stage build.

What’s good fellow bass-head’s, I’m Eroc! Found this website in search of car audio! Worked in car audio some 18+ years ago to a much lesser degree. I got out of car audio because of the ex-wife, long story short I got divorced and now I’m wanting to get back into it. Been doing my research and pricing. Have a $4k budget and for my first coming out of retirement build I’m going for a clean setup with little visual modification (aside from the box and amps which will be below the back window of my SUV). I’ll want to compete at a low level to start but would love to be in the middle if possible between SQ and SPL. I’m having mixed emotions on various audio equipments and ideas for the build. Again I’m coming from the 90’s when I last did a build and it was 2 Zeus 12” on a US Acoustics amp, running Pioneer mids and high again on a US Acoustic amp, all on a stock alternator and battery. No capacitor or anything! Don’t get me wrong it sounded awesome SUPER CLEAN the SQ was amazing… Now I’m wanting to go all out within my budget. Looking at getting two DC LVL3 12”(x2) mixed emotions between Crescendo BC2000D and the DC Audio 2.0K for the mono amp ( and I’m the OCD FREAK that needs everything to match so I’d need my 4 channel to be the same too). I am pretty certain I’ll be going with Crescendo for mids and highs. Pionner for sure on the HU. But for the first build I’ll be putting a lot of my $ into dampening, wires, alternator and batteries. Any recommendations would be great, thoughts ideas. I have a Chevy Equinox but can’t wall off the back as of yet (I have kids, maybe after they move out). Keep posted for the build I’m hoping to be complete by summer of 2014. Be easy peeps Eroc3k

Why no line driver??? (its the Audio Control Matrix Plus) But if i could save money then thats good. My thought was for extra voltage and perhaps a cleaner sound???? Please correct me if im wrong its been years since i've done car audio. Dont get me wrong I love the 2.0k but the cost of that Crescendo is $480 where the DC is $615 (ouch). I dont have experience with either and have read good review on both. The last setup I ran 18 years ago were 2 Zeus 12" on a US Acoustics amp (i forget the model but it was a 2 channel a/b amp)... Now I'm putting a lot of my money into the Dampening and wires, alt & batteries leaving me with little for audio itself. $4k is my budget for EVERYTHING and I need to throw an alarm in there somewhere too. I'll be doing the build my self aside from the Alarm that i have no experience with. But back to the Subject! I for sure will run the DC lvl3's but unless I can find that 2.0k at the low low, or a really good reason not to go Crescendo then will my thoughts change. I'm wanting to try to compete at a low level to boot but also as a daily listener back and forth from work. I write a lot of electronic music (dubstep, hip-hop (beats/instrumental), drum&bass and trip-hop (beats). after I do my build I'll experiment with some bass tracks as well tee-hee... Again all and any help info thoughts or opinions are welcome.

Hey Peeps, Just a quick question on a pair of LVL3 12"'s. Do you think a Crescendo BC2000D would be ok to match up with a pair of lvl3's? Crescendo claims 2250 RMS watts x1 @1 ohm. I did car audio some 18 years ago then got married and stopped. Here we are 18 years later divorced and ready to do another build. Things have changed a bit but I think with a little guidance this should be a good build. $4k budget and i'm looking at getting obviously 2 DC lvl3 12's, Crescendo mono amp(BC2000D) and 4 channel (C1100.4). I'll be running Crescendo mids and highs as well and a Pioneer (AVH-X5500BHS) HU. I'll also be using a Audio control Line Driver for voltage boost. Any advice ???
