  1. I've been helping a buddy install a system in his 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK. I finally have enough pics to start a build log, so I'll be loading all of them up over the next couple weeks. The requirements were simple: he wanted (4) 8's or nothing at all. Silly? Maybe; but we met the requirements and hope to be banging before the end of the year The stock sub (an 8x10) has 4 voice coils Ran some numbers in TermLab at first, but then switched the design over to WinISD. Came up with this size enclosure: That router feels good man Went with PSI-8's with High Performance suspension for 600Wrms per sub We were jammin some of that good techno The original plan was to have a few tube ports, but I had a hunch that they were too small. Thats about the time that Triticum came out with his port velocity calculator, and I realized the port velocities with these small ports would give me the tuning we were wanting, but also gave us almost 100 m/s port velocity (yikes!) Then the design changed to have a properly sized port attached to the back panel, bringing the velocities down to around 25-30 m/s I didnt really trust my kerf skills yet More pics coming tomorrow. Thanks for looking!
  2. Hey everybody, Time for me to join the party! The Harmon Kardon factory system in my M3 just wasn't doin' it for me so I decided to rip err all out and do some WERK! So here's what I started with: I didn't like any of the factory components, so I'm building it head to toe, here's a list of the main components: Mechman 320A (to replaced the factory 120A) One run each (power/ground) of 0 gauge OFC, front to back (stock battery is in the trunk) Two XS Power XP3000's (jumped in on the group buy recently) Alpine INA-W900 (As you will see later, this was quite a battle to install) Alpine Imprint H100 Alpine Sirius Tuner Coax signal cables 12Ga Knu Kord speaker wire for Mids/Highs 8Ga Stinger OFC for subs/highs amp Hertz HSK130 5 1/4" Components Rockford Fosgate Punch200DSM for the highs (OLD SCHOOL from 1993!) 3. *************[Note: Since photobucket decided to nerf everyone's accounts, a lot of the pictures in this thread are gone. I intend to fix all of the posts but it will take quite a while. Photos start on page 29 currently. In the meantime all of the photos are available on Facebook by searching #projectflexington and many are on Instagram under the same hashtag. Thanks for looking and please don't be afraid to comment! ]************* So figure it is time to start a build log for my 6th order wall. Been working on it for a few weeks now. I'll start by posting the equipment I'm using for the build. Electrical: Batteries: 2 nsb170fts and 2 stinger group 31s: 3 banks of super caps: 2 singer 320amp alternators (these came with the truck, I'm currently in the process of redoing the bracket to strengthen it and add a tensioner but I'll elaborate later): 4+ spools of skyhigh 1/0, knukonceptz 4/0 ofc for alternators (will post pictures later) Terminals, marine grade ring terminals lugs, properly crimped with double wall adhesive lined heat shrink: Subs are 2 sundown x15s rev 1(will be rebuilding for level 6 18s at a later date): Sub Amp, kicker warhorse: Head unit and tweeters, Sony dsx-s210x and 4x Earthquake Screamers, 1.5" 150wrms per pair silk Dome tweeters with replaceable voice coils: Mid bass, 4x dayton audio 10" pa woofers, 300rms each: Mids are tbd, probably 2 8" midrange speakers. Lots of Baltic birch: If you enjoy, please comment!

  5. I have 3 orion HCCA 152 woofers that im running on some off brand 3500 watt amps. I wanna go with one solid amp to run all 3 at a 1.33 ohm. this is a daily driver 2003 trailblazer but I want it to hump. the woofer are rated at 2500rms/5000peak, I currently have 5 d3100's in the back, 1 redtop in the front that I want to change out but need to find a battery that will fit due to the dual alt bracket that holds a 240 mechman and a 370 mechman. out of these 3 amps, which one would you recommend I run on those 3 woofers with my current setup. thanks for any assistance you can give me.
  6. What's going on, all? A month or so ago, I finished up one of my more fun projects for a friend/customer. Here's a build component list: 1998 Ford Expedition Mechman 270a 12v alt 2 JS 370a 16v alts 2 K2 16v 80ah banks 8 runs Sky High 1/0 OFC (4 pos, 4 neg) 3 DC Audio 5.0 amplifiers 6 Skar Audio EVL 15s Crescendo 1100.4 DB Drive mids/tweets C-pillar wall built by yours truly This thing was an absolute blast to put together. It ended up putting up nice numbers for a c-pillar, especially with budget subs. The wall was built for 6 Level 6 15s, and there will eventually be 6 5.0s. Pictures will be uploaded as soon as they finish uploading to photobucket! There are many, many pictures, as well as a few vids. Stay tuned!
  7. Sealing a wall. Got 2 DC Level 6 in my Subaru and glassed out most every side. Looks sealed but on music you can feel air behind the side. Any good way or method to find the spots that need attention? Top of port glassed now too. FYI, My first wall and I am NOT a professional installer. Things tried. Fiberglass sides and gaps. Used window seal adheisive where the glassed sided meet the b Pillar. Glassed to floor and above port
  8. Installed a couple weeks ago my cpillar slide in wall For 6 ab xfl 1222s on 2 dc 5ks. 3 top on 1 dc5k @1.3 ohms and 3 bottom on another dc5k @ 1.3 ohms. Have blown the bottom middle woofer now twice. First time thing I went to hard on it being that it took months to finish and killed the coil. 2nd one was rushing to get it playing for slammology. Broke it in for 3 hours @ 40 and 30 hz on a dc5k @ 4ohns 900 something watts Went to install it the next day screwed up poked surround like a idiot. Fixed it with shoe goo Played fine all weekend till my 4th demo at slammology then that infernal slinky sub sound. What am I doing wrong? 1. this is my first wall 2. First time running 6 subs 3. First time running this kind of power and running 2 dc5k to 1 enclosure 4. Set amps with dd-1 to older 5k cause seemed to be lower of the 2 amps. Set with -5 db track 5. Gain matched both amps to the older 5k with cc-1 6.slide in wall is top L port 7. Almost seems like bottom 3 subs move more then top ones ( but not 100 percent on this ) 5 broken in subs and one new one as soon as I buy another one from ab. Please help I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out and can't afford to keep replacing subs. Now have 5 good and 3 bad subs.
  9. Hello my name is rich and i am currently building a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer my daily driver into a 5k daily driver. I have bemen doing car stereo since i was 15 and this is going to be the second most advanced system that i have ever put together. So need as much help and criticism as possible. Want to learn as much as i can and have a nice build. If you haven't read my other build log i started building a 97 hyundai Tiburon and after having my system up and going for a little over a month the trans blew. was loud as hell needed work but oh well. so had to find another daily driver and wasn't going to give up system so decided to go truck route (3 kids and one on the way.) 10. Alright so finally got around to "finishing" a build in one of my vehicles haha. I say "finishing" because it's as close to done without having the new alternator or battery racks built but it's sooo close lol. "Fighter Jet" reasoning will be shown through pictures, hopefully you get the meaning haha. Here are the stats: 2000 Ford Explorer Limited 5.0 AWD Pioneer 80PRS Custom switch/gauge panel SHCA RCAs, fuse holders, ring terminals, heat shrink SHCA Green and Black 1/0 DC AUDIO 5K DC AUDIO 10k 4- Soundqubed HDC3 10s 4 - 18" DC Audio Lvl 6 18s, full Carbon fiber option XSPOWER Batteries SINGER ALTERNATORS Anyone want to see some pictures?
  11. https://ibb.co/dxXUJF I got two dc level 4 15s im throwing in the back of my accent hatchback, as you can see all amps are wired up and ready to go, just gotta build box, but I cant figure out what would be best.. its going to be a big and tall slot port box, if port is to the rear it will only have like 4 or 5 inches clearance from hatch, i noticed walled off setups are always port and subs forward and sound great but also hear to always point it backwards... with my setup, what do you think would be best? after i build it, its gonna be hard to turn around and experiment so kinda have to do it on first try.
  12. The Altima lease is ending in a month. Time to say good bye to the SOTM winner and look to the future. Here it is... 2014 Camaro SS RS Package, 1LE, Dual Mode exhaust, and a manual. This car doesn't need anything! I'll tint the windows soon, but as it sits, its gorgeous.
  13. DC audio Carbon fiber Cone

Hey guys and gals. I need to order a recone kit for my dc level 6 18 m4 I really liked the look of the carbon fiber cone and dust cap till I saw the price. Real shocker right. Any rate what do you all think of the carbon fiber cone for the extra $320.00 plus $40.00 for the carbon dust cap. I am sure it will be more stiff but is it worth the extra. Thanks in advance.
  14. OK, I guess it is time to post this build up. It's been in work for a good bit now but I have not wanted people to have to deal with wading through 70+ pages of a build just to see a bunch of gossip and crap. Truck is an 06 H2 that has not had an easy life it looks like. It was bought and sent to me sight unseen and showed up in much worse shape than pics showed. I'm pretty sure it has been on fire a couple times - once under the hood, one time about halfway back by the rear passenger door, and once in the far back. Lots of burnt material for sure. The body is pretty straight with minimal dents - all the chrome is fflaking off badly, front doors are both cracked, driver door handle missing, liftgate was cracked out, wheels are 22" KMC super corroded chrome specials, with 2 new and 2 bad tires, and I got free freshwater ponds on both the driver and passenger floors that magically refill every time it rains. No system installed, no sound - - pile of gear laying in the back... Starting to sound like a Sir Mix-A-Lot song..... It came with some gear that was in good shape - 4 Crescendo BC5500, 2 1600.2, nice A pillars from epicenter? It came with some gear that was in OK shape - 10x Crescendo 10's (8 good) with some decent extreme door panels w/ room for 5x each. DC quad alt bracket w/ no mounting hardware. It came with some gear that was in bad shape - 6x crescendo supertweers - all broken but one, tons of 0 gauge wire w/ free burn holes throughout, Sundown 100.4 - hope it works. 3x singer 400A alts. Also came with 21 16v kenetik batts that came pretty alive with a nice charge. So, the plan came out to be 8 level 6 18" DC subs 8 Crescendo BC5500 21x 16v batteries 3x 12v batteries 3 400A ext regulated alts DC power 180 amp 12v alt 2 1600.2 3 4 ch amps built in XS power 16v charger audiocontrol overdrive Alpine W205 w/ rearview cam Box o' dual inputs Kicker 1/2d EQ Motorized amp rack Directed alam/remote start Lots of 0, 8, and 16 ga wire - company to remain unnamed for now bulk packs of deadener selenium 350 supertweets x6 DD 1" silk tweets x4 More stuff that I probably forgot - DISCLAIMER: I'm not talking crap about the previous owner or anybody who had a part in the build(s) on this truck before I got it. I'm just going to lay this build out from the start. DOUBLE DISCLAIMER - I'm pretty sarcastic so if I say anything like I'm cutting factory wiring out to make the truck lighter and faster....I'm probably full of crap. It's a few weeks from completion. A pic from a few weeks back: waiting on photobucket to upload older pics

  18. I'm starting a new build now, some of the old parts will be reused but I'm going for a cleaner, better sounding, smaller setup this time. 20. Alright so this is my first topic started on SMD so bear with me. I've been watching builds on here for the past couple years as a bystander, meanwhile doing alot of my own and I thought it was time to get in on the benefits of showing what you got and get input from other Car Audio Fanatics! This build is my personal truck that Ive had for about 4 years. 2003 GMC Sierra crew cab 2500HD with a vortech 8.1L. As for audio upgrades Ive been through many different set up's gradually building up to this, but this set up is so I can figure out where I can go bigger as far as subs and amps. So tailgaters beware these are freaking bright!! They can light up a few blocks to say the least, I flipped them on when a buddie of mine was following and he had to come to a complete stop because they blinded him so bad. He was pretty pissed off ! Ill post some better pics when the truck is done so you can see how good they light up ]/URL]
  21. here is a build i did a few years back on my truck when i was a noob and didnt know about box building, now its time to build a correct band pass box designed by ramdesigns for (4) 15 FI Q or SP4 powered by my saz4500 or some RF 2500bdcp im still downloading pictures

  24. Hello fellow bassheads! This is the build log for my car, the Kickin' Cruiser. The builds in this car started in 2010, and have changed several times since then. But in Dec. 2011 I decided to go big or go home, so I started planning this build for the final install. Actually got started about a month later, and have jumped around, way out of order. And I had to put it on hold for over 6 months for the birth of my newest son, T.J. (Trent Jr.) But I just keep pushing forward, with my goal of having a ground pounder PT still very much alive! So anyway, here we go. Much of this will be a repost, since I had a build log before, it just got messed up by facebook. I will attempt to keep it all in the correct order. The car is a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser that I bought a few years ago, and fell in love with ever since. Best car I have ever owned! And a while back, I decided to split the build into stages, so that it wouldn't seem so over-whelming, and so it would be easier to navigate through. So here is the plan for the different stages: Stage 1 - Initial instal Stage 2 - Fiberglass and accessories (Learning Stage) V.2 Stage 3 - Dash, doors, and a 4th order wall. (Time to get serious stage!) Stage 4 - Rims. body, and paint Stage 5 - Engine/ drive-train (performance mods) For this stage, we will be focusing on the interior of the car. We will build new custom door panels, dash panel, change all of the interior color from light brown/ dark brown to grey/ black. I'll also be Installing new carpet front to back, as well as building a new headliner. We will finish it off with new seats. Basically the whole inside of the car is getting a make-over!!! Oh and how could I forget? I'll be building a 4th order wall for 4 custom Solo X 15's (which I will build myself), to run off 2 DC5.0K's. Goals are mid 50's on music, and nasty hair tricks on demand. So here we go!!!!
  25. Time to start a daily build in the new car (The Honda). Some of you might know about my Jeep Build, well now that it's a 160+db car I needed something to get around in so that the Jeep could become the weekend toy lol. (http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/201691-jeepandbass-2-18s-161db-certified-on-10k-and-still-demoing-hard/page-1) Decided to get this little gas saver and do a small build in it with the system I won in SOTM a while back. The Car: (2000 Honda Civic Ex 1.6L) Car's Competition History: 2016 Melos Auto (Sacramento Ca) - Street Trunk 5k 151.5db @3845 W (1st) The Build: Pic of when I first got it, needed a few things but ran good. Had to get some emblems and little things to get this started off right. Now to start getting ready for the system! Going to do a few boxes of DC Audio 80mil in there first.
