recent order
Wasteland_Audio replied to fox_racin4's topic in Sonic Electronix - Great Selection Great Prices
Let me share a bit of knowledge about Sonic Electronix. Sonic is a pretty huge company, idk how many times i've called their customer service and was told to call back later because their phone lines were completely tied up. I've been ordering stuff from them for a good 5 years or so and they've made their fair share of mistakes over those years, but eventually made it right. The last order i placed with them was 2 DC lv6 18" dual 2 ohm subs (important!) and all the stuff to make them bang. when the order first arrived, one of the subs looked like it had been air dropped without a parachute, (thanks UPS). I called Sonic and they had a new one on the way within hours of the call. The next sub they send me turned out to be a dual 1 ohm sub, which i didn't realize until i had burnt the leads completely off the spider. They admitted that they had send me the wrong sub and asked me to send it back and i would receive the right one. The point i am trying to make tho is have patience, even tho this last order has been a hassle for me, there have been plenty of orders that i have placed that went without a hitch. Sonic has always came through and made it right for me and there should be no reason they won't do the same for you. -
Stock alt, high voltage
Wasteland_Audio replied to BigHOUSTON's topic in XS Power Batteries / Chargers! (and other stuff too)
My mechman alt charges at just a hair under 15 volts and doesn't hurt anything. You'll see a voltage gain going from an old lead acid to a new agm battery anyway. .2 volts isn't going to bother anything. -

Impedance Problem
Wasteland_Audio replied to dbackfan12's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
infrasonic/subsonic filter is your friend Word, my level 6's like to dig low, but i still set the subsonic around 26hz and put a -6db slope at 30hz on my head unit just in case. It sucks having a trunk setup and not being able to hear a sub hitting its mechanical limit tho, may have saved it if he heard it. -

XL subs are rated to 2200rms so you are running the right amp to it, so the only thing i could think of is you were running it way below tuning and unloading it with that big of a box. -
sooo I feel like a dumb ass now, the 2 test posts I did neither of them had the pic in them, one had an "image not available" message and the other one just had the code, no pic (after I actually posted, not in the actual reply box that you type in). then I tried the image button and that's when things started getting really funky. like I said when I try to paste it directly to the reply box nothing shows up, no code, no pic, no nothin', that's why I'm a little confused on how you did that.

I've been trying to add photos with the little image button in the tool bar. When the window pops up to add the bb code it will allow me to enter it but when I go to hit ok it won't do anything and when I try to close the window I get a popup that says "the window options have changed, are you sure you want to exit?". I click yes and the window stays up. I actually have to back up to the previous screen to get the image upload window to go away. Please help, I am trying to post my first build log and I can't without MOAR PISHEEERRRRSSSS!!!! lol

M38's as midbass?

That all makes sense, and that's why I like to post on the DC threads because you guys are so knowledgable. -

Do you think those M38's would sound any good in a box ported super high? -

Will are you running them infinite baffle then? -
Just sitting here at work when a thought crossed my dome. Could you run a couple m38's as a 100-250hz midbass filler? like put them in a ported box under the back seat and tune it to like 80hz or some ridiculous number like that so they come in as the 18's roll off? sorry just brain puking here and wondered what other people thought.

Hey I just wanted to give a shout out to you guys for helping me out with my damaged sub. I ordered 2 DC level 6 m2's and thanks to the fine package throwers at UPS one of them had a broken basket. I honestly thought I would be out $900 but I called Sonic first thing and made the process of getting an exchange as quick and seamless as I've ever had to deal with. They even offered to cover half the cost of overnight shipping. You guys are awesome and have never done me wrong. Keep up the good work and you'll always have my business!

DC sub system advice
Wasteland_Audio replied to Wasteland_Audio's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I was thinking that as well. I may just get a couple regular car batteries to boost the XS power ones I have now until I can get another 4 or so agm's. Then i'll have a little bit of time to break everything in before i go ape-dodo on the thing. think that'll work? -

Wasteland_Audio replied to Wasteland_Audio's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Well guys I finally broke down and ordered a 370 amp MechMan alt, hopefully that should be enough to get this thing pounding. If there's any other advice you guys wanna throw my way then I'm all ears. -

Does anyone know of any shops that carry Mechman Alts in stock? I have a 2004 Suburban that I'm currently in the process of building and can't exactly wait a month to have one built. Can anyone help?

Thanks Will, I always thought of them as an alternative to an extra battery but that makes sense, do you know where I could get an alternator for a decent price? i'd love a mechman but those are a little steep for me.
