  1. The cool thing about the Astro/Truck GM 300 amp Comp series units is that they come with built-in adjustable voltage, standard at no additional charge! That way, they can be used on 12 volt or 16 volt systems, or anywhere in between. They can be driven on the street, here's a typical output curve of the CS144 300 amp unit for the Astro: 700 rpm = 80 amps 900 rpm = 190 amps 1500 rpm = 297 amps 1800 rpm = 318 amps
  2. What is the year make and model of your vehicle? Matt
  3. Here is the output curve of a 6G for a Ford SUV that I just dyno'd : 700rpm = 130 amps 850rpm = 208 amps 1150rpm= 284 amps 1400rpm= 309 amp It doesn't do much below 600rpm, but under normal driving or with a decent idle speed the ford units are definitely streetable!
  4. Like the title says- We are currently offering the 300 amp comp series units for most full size GM and Ford applications for only $399 with FREE shipping to the 48 states. These units produce 60-100 amps at idle, depending on application, and crank out about 300 amps at cruising speed. Each unit includes a dyno sheet, and is perfect for SPL competition vehicles and Max effort street-beat vehicles. PM me for application info!! Sale ends 4-29-09 , so call now! 1-888-MECHMAN
  5. 350 shevy with vortec heads. Reliable, 300hp, cheap, and it bolts right in.
  6. I've sold all of the open-box and blemished units, but I still have FREE SHIPPING and the lowest prices on brand new XS power batteries. I keep them all in stock too.
  7. Part number 580 for the short posts, 586 for the tall posts. Either will work.
  8. Looks to me like you're just maxing out the alternator. It could be a number of things causing it to charge intermitently. A 6 year old battery isn't going to help, but it seems like the unit is turning itself on an off for some reason. (probably a bad internal connection)
  9. Cool, thanks for the feedback. Have you tried unplugging the alternator plug to activiate the higher voltage setpoint? It should be set to 15.1V right now whenever you unplug the harness, 14.7 plugged in. You can set it to whatever you want by turning the little white screw on in the red voltage regulator, but I wouldn't go much above 15 volts, as higher voltages have a tendancy to dry out your batts. It should make your system noticably louder!
  10. Depending on what family alternator is, it could be a loose internal connection, or regulator connection. Check the alternator plug, and all cable connections for loosenes or corrosion.
  11. Back on topic- You are going to want an improved/ additional battery even if you run a higher output alternator, so I would buy the battery first. (you are going to need it either way) If you are unsatisfied with the performance, you can add the alternator.
  12. XS Power D1200. They are $180 http://mechman.com/store/product_info.php/.../products_id/28 if you call and say you are on SMD , you get free shipping.
  13. all the open box Batteries are sold. We still have the lowest prices on batteries though, and we can have them to any address in the US in 1-2 days!
  14. I have new ones in stock right now with free shipping and the full 3 year warranty. D2700 = $299 to your door D3100 = $349 to your door Holler if you want on and I'll ship it today
  15. We just advised him that belt slup would be an issue, and that is might slip under load. He said he didn't mind over tightening the belt, and he doesn't really drive the car that much with the system turned up anyway. (belt slip is only an issue when under an electrical load) Any unit claiming 170 amps out of the stock Denso housing will ZERO output at idle. They are efficient litlle units in factory form, to try and re-wind them just screws them up. The ProPower 200 amp is the unit that I would reccomend. It would power that setup nicely, have great output at idle, and would have only minor belt slip issues at full load.
  16. We actually just set up Red barron with a unit for his 99 integra LS- We have 4 models for that vehicle. All for of them are based on the same custom machined large case housing so they are an easy bolt-in. Because we use the late model large case design, you get infinitely better output at idle than anything based on a small OEM housing. Also, they have better cooling and durability at higher amperage levels. We stand behind all of our amperage claims by including a dyno sheet that shows exactly what your unit put out on the dyno at ALL rpms. Also, all four units come with our 1 year "hassle free" warranty. DynamoXL 150 amp - Excellent output between 500-700 rpm - $375 shipped ProPower 200 amp - 125+ amps by 800 rpm - $449 shipped Rhino 250 amp - 150+ amps by 800 rpm - $499 shipped Comp 300 amp - 80 amps by 800 rpm - $599 shipped Be for-warned, that because of the tiny alternator belt that your Acura uses, belt slip will be an issue at anything above 200 amps. I have all four currently in stock. Add $99 for in-cab adjustable voltage. thanks Matt 1-888-MECHMAN extension 7 This isn't an Acura unit, but it gives you an idea in the difference in beefyness:
  17. The S series has a steel case, and post style terminals. the battery itself is identical between the two.
  18. I have some open box D680 and S680 batteries on clearance right now- only $50 each. I have 5 at this price. (reg. $119) These won't last long, do your system a favor and throw one of these units in next to the amplifier! These can be mounted in any position, and make a great inexpensive suplement to replace a capacitor or mount next to your amps. We also carry the ultralight mouting bracket for only $35, that allows the battery to be installed in secconds to any flat surface with 6 screws. [email protected] 1-888-MECHMAN extensiion 7
  19. Ford Alternators can now be ordered to charge at 15V or 18.5V right out of the box for only $25 MORE!!! If you need a voltage bump for most Ford applications, give us a holler and we can build your unit with voltage boost for only $25. (some applications do not apply) This means that affordable 16V setups are now available ready to rock for Ford owners!!
  20. We also offer deep-groove aluminum V-belt pulleys for competition vehicles that are looking to run a 200+ amp alternator off of a single v-belt. (will require revving due to pulley ratio)
  21. Fresh off our CNC lathe, we are now offering premium, custom machined aluminum hard-anodized competition overdrive pulleys. We have them avaialble for OEM and aftermarket alternators, and are gauranteed to signifigantly boost your alternator's output at idle by spinning the alternator faster at low engine RPMS. We now offer them in 46mm configurations, with most stock alternator pulleys being well over 60mm, and previous overdrive pulleys being 54mm. Only10 minutes to install, it's a no brainer for 20-80 more amps at idle depending on application!! These pullies can sometimes even band-aid poor idle output on "high output" alternators from other companies, if you made the unfortunate mistake of buying something other than a MechMan large case conversion. Most applications- on sale for only $59 Holler- 1-888-MECHMAN extension 7
