  1. slinky coil is when it burns off the adhesive, or parts of the coil, and it unwraps from the former, and then wedges itself inside the motor. unless its a really nice sub, throw it out and get a new one, or try and get it waranteed.
  2. put the gain at or around where you think 2v would be, if it goes from .5-12, (left to right, and knowing amps .5 is prob at the 7 oclock position and 12 is around 5oclock, use about 9 oclock) does the amp pop the subs when it cuts? is a thermal light on? are any lights on? otherwise take it back and complain, probably shouldve done that first, most shops dont like it when customers who admittedly dont know gain from gauge start messing with stuff.
  3. you can get a yellowtop in that price range what kind of system do you have? wiring? amplifier? vehicle?
  4. thought it was black wall street www.therealbws.com im all about the game...
  5. yea, i was just thinking like damn, over 6k watts freeair could probably take it if it wasnt broken already...
  6. another member of the 200deebee club i remember back in highschool how people used to see who could flip the biggest coin on their trunk lid to determine who's car was loudest, lol never saw anyone turn a sandal all the friggin way around though, im amazed
  7. check something like amatt's calculator, i love that thing plan the box out, draw it (like how each piece will overlap and such) and then carefully calculate exactly how large each piece is then all you have to do is measure four times and cut once, glue, screw, and carpet
  8. some vid i saw on youtube makes that 8 in logitech sub hooked up with a power inverter look like the loudest thing in history not saying the RE is bad, but shallows are always kinda....eh buuutt, ever see the kicker l7 truck boxes? honestly, those are some of the best sounding compact enclosures i've ever heard. i think a model number is something like 08ts10l74
  9. all kicker subs will just randomly go whenever they want i'm pretty sure theres like a kicker fairy that comes around at night and messes with something, so next time you play with it it goes up in smoke... but for reals, if you say screw it, you know in like 2 weeks you'll miss it, sell the extra subs, keep that awesome amp, and get some 18's and kicker is field destroy, solo-x has a spair system, not a recone. it is literally a sub with the magnet unbolted (frame, cone, surround, spider, tinsels, terminals, coil, etc...lust no motor) i just threw out like 4 over christmas break...lets just say that 5krms is a joke...more like 1400
  10. no, trade the dual 2 for a dual 4, i mean, you can, but it's going to be some funky power distribution. like one sub will get double the power of the others and if the box is baffled, just use 2 and leave a hole open...most triple boxes i've seen are individually baffled
  11. yea, about to say, all of us can chill with 150deebeez of phil collins cruisn down the freeway caps aint hurting anyones ears
  12. chris, learned that one in gradeschool...i do it for apostrophes, colons, commas, and periods used it to get an extra like 15 pages on my marketing project, lol. but anyway, i already had the obama one day thing, lol i have like a 1.25 pages so far and i feel like i'm dying, im about to go raid dining hall for tea and honey and soup
  13. lol i could...but honestly all i watch on tv is how its made, lost, and southpark any other suggestions? i dont really want to write a paper on crackheads, domestic violence, and petty crime.....oh, and that naked black man on methanphetamine who ran through a laundromat, i love that episode.
  14. reminds me of that cashcab episode where they said bass commonly crushes your lungs, causing them to fill with blood and kill you i got so pissed, i've never heard of that ever happening to anyone. 1 more thing for the basshating politicians to use against everyone with a hobby.
  15. I'm in a joke english class, as long as it is long enough and grammatically correct, i get an A the assignment was "2pg essay on how T.V. reflects american interests. Choose a program, describe its appeal, and discuss how it displays american life." I'm sick as a dog and can't think. All i came up with is that Southpark has a 1 week turnaround, so a lot of current events are included, very close to the time they happened (like the obama episode the week after he won, or that Paris Hilton stupid spoiled whore video playset episode like 2 weeks after her sextape got released) and that it has stereotypical american families in a stereotypical suburban town...rich jew, poor white trash, middle class single parent, middle class divorced parents. and alot of it occurs in public elementary school, which most every american has experienced. so any other ideas? i cant quite get 2 pages out of that.
  16. lol i dont think my girl would find this as funny as i do, but its on her facebook now nonetheless good find
  17. old people have sensitive ears my dad just turned 50, he covered his ears every single time i turned my stereo up when we were tuning it, lol after he got done telling me about how every car he had, he put a stereo into, and loves loud music but word, crush his bones with bass, u need a few more deebeez, i hear old men get crushed around 170@30hz you got a goal now
  18. 90% of libraries have chilton manuals in the reference section i know 3 local ones by me carry it, the one smallest one doesnt, may be somewhere to look
  19. on the looks of it, its pretty darned neat could definately open up some unique possibilities looks like it's something that has to be custom made and installed...labor+product=expensive may be one of those things you only sell like 4 times a year on big custom jobs...and everyone knows you make your cash doing hundreds off little things.
  20. yea, i know... i had the cash to get in on the presale thing, but I was planning on putting them in the rear deck with a port through the armrest with 1500rms to each one, but when I got around to cutting my deck there was only like 14in to spare, not the 16ish i needed, so maybe later, when i go nuts and really cut my car apart to get myself an extra 2 inches there. and iirc retail is like $450, and the presale price was like 300ish
  21. maaaaaaaaaaannn so tight i couldnt get 15's in my deck! i would love to rock 2 of these with 3k watts like i had planned...i'm gonna see if i can work something out to get the room i need
  22. shallow mounts are almost always quieter and higher hitting than normal subs dont expect to put up numbers or play 28hz with any shallow, they dont have the excursion or sensitivity for it. but when you have no other option, it is pretty good ive heard rockfords, kickers, and pioneers...pioneer is nicest imo, kicker needs to do some work on their shallows...
  23. yea, its like 500milliamps...half an amp...max its a signal line to trip the amp to turn on. ive seen a normal one split 6-8 times with no problems, it takes very little current to turn an amplifier on.
  24. x2 on box and power 3 10's is the most cone area i believe
  25. so you made your port smaller and longer...both of which drop tuning but i think you did somethign wrong somewhere, 7cubic feet net, 20.5x5 port, 21 long, gives approx 38hz tuning
