I had an experience with a local shop like that, kept telling my to get rid of my XL for a 13W7, said that the JL would stomp it in output, The guy at the shop said "The JL is $1000 cause its so damn loud" Shortly after I demo'd for him and ya you know the rest LOL

Either would be louder in a custom built box, my buddy used to have a box like the one the CVR's in the pic are in IIRC it was tuned to like 46Hz or something..... Anyways to the OP, where do you live? Maybe there is another member on here near that could help you out with a box

Get tejcurrents Wardens, and get one of the Soundigital 8K's on CACO then the rest on electrical and mids/highs. Edit: Though it may not be a great starter system, You could go to a JL dealer ship and get 2 W7's 1 JL1000 and a box for 7000 LAWLZZ

Whatcha tuned to man??? Airforces wasnt loud on my set-up either until I mega Slowed it, now its loud as fuck at 27Hz....

If you want a hairtrick do a wall with 4 15's tuned low then you could probably do a pretty decent hair trick on about 2000rms, since you will have a ton of cone area.... The honest truth is it is very difficult to do hairtricks from the trunk even with sub/port forward sealed off.

With that power and those subs a genuine Hairtrick will never be achieved.....

I used to think the same as you, my first real system was 2 12"CVX's and a ZX.1500 I got it from the dealer and it wasnt cheap the subs where just under 400 a piece and the amp was 600......If I would of got that exact system online I would of saved hundereds of dollars, ATM I am running 1 DC Audio XL 15 at 2 ohms on an AQ2200, so about 1200rms or so and it is much louder and better sounding than my old set-up with less power and cone area.... with these non-mainstream companys you wont be paying for the name you will be paying for the perfomance....People say all the time to me why dont you have kickers, I say I did and this sub absolutly stomps the shit out of em..... Well thats my little exp. with that BTW the last time I got a quote for an RE Audio MT from the dealer it was about $1400, also I would do 2 12's or 1 15 in the space you have.

I have no idea man its been a good while since I have been there, the last time I was there they had barely got the remodel done on the shop, which was a while back..... The other reason I wanted the recone was so I could get the custom dustcap I ordered thats sitting in Rusty's shop put on, And once I get a HO alt im not gonna have this amp anyway gonna upgrade to something like an AQ3500 or a Soundigital 3k. It already damn loud with the amp at 2 ohms on the low lows(24-30Hz)...... Anyways anybody have any idea about my other Q? About the shipping costs, do I have to pay both ways or just 1 way or what?? Also if there is a comp I am definitaly down, though most people down here own the standard Sony,Lanzar,Pioneer etc.....in the prefab boxes.

I know the XL could handle the power no prob, its just I dont have the cash for a HO alt atm, I have a Kinetik HC1400 under the hood and an HC2000 in the trunk with 1/0 through out, I dont trust my electrical to support the amp at .5 ohms, I'd rather have a lil less power than have to get a new amp...

Well long story short I dont trust running my XL at .5ohms on my AQ2200 so I want to get it reconed to either a dual 2 ohm or .5ohm coil+get my custom dustcap, I used to have the recone cost sheet but I lost it, so can someone tell me the cost for a recone, I still remember the cost for the dust cap so dont worry about that.......Also does the recone cost include shipping??? Thanks

I have the AQ2200, so thats what I recommend.......do not get the Quantum amp it will do no where near 3000rms or even 1500rms, it would probably do like 750-1000rms, the AQ will do 2200rms or even a little more.

There is no fucking way you are gonna fit 2 18's in a trunk with the proper space, you will have a hard time doing 1 18 in the trunk, you would still most likely have to build the box in the trunk for just 1. I would just do 2 beefy 12's or 1 beastly 15 and call it a day, the only way your doing 2 18's is a wall period.....not tryin to be a dick just sayin Also the 14 some odd cubes you think you have is if you filled the entire trunk with packing peanuts and took em all out you would have 14 cubes worth of packing peanuts, only a fraction of that space is usable for a box...
