A bit of this and a bit of that. I use a Makita; Dewald = BIG Shit

that's awesome, what are these things tuned at? Can you still hear when its going bonkers /i mean you wont be able to see the woofer like in a standard box when doing the "sub sonic setting" I suspect replacing a busted woofer wont be much fun either?

Comparable HUs to the 9887?
Punkeyboozter replied to tonedeaf's topic in Head Units-Processors and Eq's
I can see how I was confusing. I want a 3 way active frontstage and I didn't mean by running it off the deck. I will be investing in either a bit one or ms-8 when funds permit. But if I can run active for the time being off the deck, why not use that to my advantage? As for speaker placement, would I be better off with just or component set and the kids putting all of them in the doors? That would keep it all clustered within a 12" area and might be less cluttered. Or I could still do the two 165s sets with mids alone in the pillars, or just also do the mids in the doors. You people make me feel like I had one post again. Because post = skill. if you buy a deck that can run active now and then later buy a processor that is fine but in the long run you will be paying more. you could just buy whatever you want and use the cheap crossovers that come with the speakers but either way will work just fine. I dont know if you live in the US and drive a auto car because you can do kick panels which is not so easy to do if you have a manual car and right hand drive. I feel kick mounted mids are superior but you will have to work that tuning to get it right. For the rest mount the tweets and the high mids as close as possible to each other but make sure it does not screw with your view of the road. They can be door mounted as well but people like to have the tweets on the dash. I run 2-way active with my mids in my doors since it was the most practical for me. Sometimes we have to compromise be it practicality or money Here is a pic for inspiration :)it is by no means a SQ setup but it sounds pretty good. eclipse 7200 Tweets -

im a bit confused here? You want the best SQ but you want to mostly run from Ipod? When you say 3-way active does that mean you want to 3-way front-stage + sub or 2-way front stage plus sub? This is important since most decks listed here will only do 2way plus sub unless you buy a processor or go for the D2 which is the cheapest way to do 3way plus sub. Good processors will easily cost the same as the decks mentioned here the "bit 1" are doing good these days if not the older alpine 701 or its replacement are other popular options. If I upgrade my current setup one day I would likely go the P90 way...some might say it has a bit more digital sound compared to alpine but I quite like it The eclipse 7200 MKII with copper chasis that I currently use are pretty sweet and comes with a 8v pre-out but its a nightmare to setup. think of it as this. There are many that compare but my guess is you want something that can run active in a similar price range? P80 is the most direct comparison. step up gives you something like the eclipse 7100 or the 7200MK11 with copper chassis Similary classed as the MKII you get the Clarion D2 which gives you 3-way active plus sub. My advise would be to get a double din and a controller or a double din with a build in controller. It will cost you a bit more but in the new techno age it goes a long way and you can use it for reverse camera when you wall that truck up and sat nav when you get lost with your girl and dont want to ask for directions. -

Here are some pics that I have posted many times before so you might have seen them but dont h8. I am open to advice. Remember this is the family car and I am trying to keep some space for the baby stuff and shopping. The plan is to go into the wheel-well but I am still having trouble to decide how to do the ports. 32Hz 40HZ -

lol DC fanboys getting shit but here we have someone with the username "nightshade" recommending... a nightshade. plus the sundown audio banner in the avatar. lol sorry man, but thats funny to me. It's cool bro, I just said it's not too hard to believe that DC is winning. They've been the forum bonner for a long time now and it's not a bad thing by any means. Of course I'm gonna suggest a Nightshade though, but also because he has a saz3000d. Those two are a nice match together. Also Punky, a Nightshade will eat, chew up, and spit out a fully loaded BL. I'm not sure who gave you the idea that they were comparable to a Nightshade but that's not true at all. The Nightshades in a woofer swap test were louder then the last style loaded BTL's with the UFO mags. If you wanted a sub to compare a Nightshade to output wise and even sound wise then I'd say it's SIMILAR to the RE Audio MT woofer. They do happen to sound a bit better then the MT's imo, but even output wise the Nightshades happen to test a few tenths louder. This is the NS V1 that I'm refering to, then if you wanna throw the NS V2 in the mix output is quite a bit better then the MT's, with even better sound then the NS V1's. Anyone that's owned a Nightshade will all tell you the same thing, they are stout badass motherfuckers. They will play the lows when broken in and in the proper enclosure to do so. So don't attach that stereotype to them of not being able to get down. There's a reason that Jacob is sold out of the V2's right now, and is the only reason that I would think you may want to do another sub. Unless your willing to wait until he gets more built of course. In the end it's up to you, and I'm just throwing my .02 out there since that's what the thread is about. Shit buy a couple of different subs that you listed try each one of them and then go with the one that you think performs the best for your setup. I'm sure you won't have any trouble selling the others here since each brand listed is a quality woofer that is sought after by many here. If you were close to me I'd even let you try out one of mine to see if you like it, and so you can also see for yourself that the Nightshade is as mean as those of us from Team Sundown say it is. Yeah bro, I would love to try all of them, problem is shipping which often cost me close to $200 for a single sub and that was for a 12 and we are talking about a single 18 here. This is the reason why I wanted to get a NEO because the price of the woofer and the shipping sort of cancels each other out. The other thing is its hard to try any thing but generic mass market woofers in these parts which is not really my cup of tea. I saw the nightshades are rated at 1.5k RMS only...Will they take 3k RMS to a single driver as a daily? Also what is the Z v2 series? which one's to get? Can you specify options. I am not in too much of a rush to get it so I can wait for stock to come in. Im actually waiting for info on that new proto-mid driver they ware talking about. Another thing I noted is that it seems that you can get away with a smaller box while using NEO mags is this true? -

i wouldnt do a 95z a reg 95 would be loud ive got 2 but the rms on a z starts at 2000 rms steve at dd says if u dont have at least 6k on it thares no point in buying it cause the reg 95 is just as loud ddz woofers are made for a shit ton of power we got 10k now on one so my vote is for dd just not the 95z reg 95 be great -

i lol'd, im a DC fanboy and voted BTL because there fucking sick. Specially the N3. The N3 wouldn't be ideal for a daily driver, though it does look sick Thanks Bro supercharged DC fanboy Do you have an idea on the pricing of that new DD? Only price sheet I could find were some older European forms which does not state this model/. IDK man my box was pretty good on following the specs...maybe specs does not suite my application. The subs are in a boot though. You guys want me to post the pics of how I had it?> I liked it at 32Hz but in my quest to get more authority I went ape-shit and tuned it to 40hz and used a singel woofer at 2ohms of the saz3k. It was a lot louder but I missed the low's and didnt get the results I was after...didnt sound as good either though I could live with it. -

yeah but the nightshades are rated at 1.5k RMS and from what I know are comparable to loaded BL's which I have now, but according to bigjon they have more authority which is always welcome. My goal is to go with a single sub, I remeasured and building a box into the wheel-well/boot will give me space for a 18 but I might have to with aero ports. Whats with all the hating on the DC fanboys lol -
hey bro,
See you run the DD Z95 's
Are they worth that redonkeyless amount of money? Does the Neo's really save you some weight? Are they any good for Daily groundpounding?
Mind sharing how they compare to something like a Fi BTL or a SMD perhaps? Do you think I can get close in results with something similar without spending that much?
I am currently...

LOL. Those have my vote! Don't forget funky pups fellas Thanks Guys for the humerous replies I added the DD as well as the AQ. Will the DDD take 3k RMS and still sound good? Are they really worth that much? I am leaning towards NEO magnets as shipping to singapore is freaking ex. Thanks. -

Thanks Guys, Keep em coming. For the AA and DC I have no experience with them and hence did not give the model details. Suppose its something like the BTL N2 and N3 which can go either way of a 3k RMS I like something that can be re-coned as well for obvious reasons, though I hope its not required to often as my bl's are still good as new. Id typically wang it at around 80-90% vol keeping it out of clipping/unwanted distortion for about 45min to and from work I am leaning toward the BTL's since I have the BL's and love them but I do wish they had more low end authority. Will the BTL N3 play music well? Hope to go with a single driver this time around though. Seems like a lot of the new drivers can get away with smaller boxes... :0 4cbf for a 18 I think I can squeeze in a 15 without giving up too much space. Thanks -
Hi Guys, Need some advise. Have a Saz 3000D. Used for loud daily driving. It will have to be a 12 or just maybe a 15" if its one of those small box woofers. I like lows loud. I like a reliable driver I like something that will work fine on music Tuning around 32-35Hz in a trunk car Please vote and give your reasons. This setup will be replacing two loaded BL's which were fine but if I could get better low-frew authority that would be great. Reason for the BL's going is largely due to space for baby stuff and shopping in the back. Thanks guys
