Not only do you have less efficiency when you run your amp at 1 Ohm rather than 2 Ohms, but now you have increased current draw on your electrical system. I'm sure that your voltage drop is greater which also means more current required by the amplifiers to make the same power as your voltage sags.

Very good point Scottie. I know diesel trucks and even some tow trucks come with huge alts due to the additional accessories on those vehicles. They have a higher percentage of demand from the accessories resulting in the requirement of the larger alt.

I would like to say that Tony Candela is the shizzle! This is a MUST HAVE for anyone serious about automotive electrical systems etc.

It is very bad for the amplifier. As soon as you mount the amp to the box, the amp, board and all components absorb every bit of vibration. Meades' setup is different, he has very little flex from over building his enclosure. If at all possible, avoid mounting any amps to enclosures. As suggested above, if you have no choice then atleast use rubber spacers in between the feet and the box.
