New Pillar install: TangBand Ceramic
Megalomaniac replied to Megalomaniac's topic in Fabrication, Fiberglass, Etc
thanks. I will post a thread soon, Me and the DFW crew did some tweeter testing and fullrange testing yesterday. Wiggins also sent us the ADI version of those same ceramics you see in this thread. It has a different internal motor structure though along with coil. Its the first tweeter ever to utilize XBL^2 patent. We were fortunate enough to be able to acquire the protoypes from wiggins to test them! -
New Pillar install: TangBand Ceramic
Megalomaniac replied to Megalomaniac's topic in Fabrication, Fiberglass, Etc
Mark brought some toys over at Stevens home, we got to test them later in the week, I will post about that in a different thread later on -
I bought some Tangband Ceramics from parts express. Me, steven(italynstylion), and Mark(Azngotskillz) Made some pillar pods. Im not in any photos. I cut the plastic lens off them to get a narrower dispersion out of them, I had spoken to Wiggins about it he said its fine to cut it. They are covered temp for now until I can order the matching vinyl for them.

NO NO NO NO NO! Stay away from CDT at all costs. I dont care if they cost a million dollars, doesnt mean they sound real. Which Focal set were you planning on getting? $1400, Is that the 3way k2p set? Focal makes great sounding speakers. However, every focal set if have heard that were using a passive set, felt like the tweeter was a bit too edgy for my ears. But I am sure they can be dialed down if necessary. The Dynaudio and Hertz really do sound completely different from the Focals imo, the Focals are more articulate whereas the Hertz tend to be a little more bottom heavy to embrace that "warm" sound people sometimes seek.

You really are missing the point of dampening, forget it about it not sticking for a moment, the problem is under low heat the mat changes its dampening characteristics and makes it a weak deadener because the rubber/asphalt is changing its form But to say just glue it on, is a complete waste time, you will no be happy with the results, I may as well glue poop to the walls and get the same effect, both bad dampening and shitty smell. lol

Pro Tools requires their Digidesign hardware to even launch the program, its stupid. The cheapest thing Digidesign offers is a Fastrak USB thats $100. So instead of me paying retail for the cheapest thing brand new, I said why not get something more expensive used for a better price. -

I played with them some more today after I read this thread, listen to them bells, they sound very real in the car, camera doesnt do justice but whatever. Then I turned them sideways and really found their sweetspot in my car, strange enough huh. lol. staging was soo much better and tonally better. enjoy

For a good full detail you will need to leave your car with the shop for more than a few hours. The shop around here needs the car to stay with them over the weekend, its garage kept and only the owner of the shop works on the car, nobody else. But there are some valet detailers that come to your place and work on your car. The usually do a general polish, but if the paint condition is real bad the price goes up significantly. You can learn to do this yourself, it can be fun, at least for me its fun. sign up and read here: http://www.autopia.org/forum/index.php
