  1. Sunday I ordered a Kinetik HC1400 from sonicelectronix. It showed up today. I got home from school, put my car in the garage, grabbed the big ass UPS box, threw out packing peanuts, took the kinetik box out, which had a UPS sticker on it where you would open it, and the box is in rough shape. Turns out...NO TERMINALS...i looked at the packaging that was inside the box, around the battery. I could see imprints from where the hardware once was....UPS must have opened the box and dropped them and forgot to put them back in....kinda pissed. Is there anywhere i could go grab terminals that would fit? I called sonic and they said they will mail them out ASAP, but i really dont want to wait, and im not sure when im going to have enough free time again...ive been extremely busy with school. I know this is technically electrical, but this place gets more traffic.
  2. what will your subs handle? what kind are they, how many voice coils, what configuration, how many subs.
  3. not related to the thread at all, but Kranny, i fucking love your quote in your sig, (clip city)
  4. i was happy with by BRZ1700.1D till it shit out on me (my fault, didn't have the electrical for it, replacement is here, but its sitting in the box in the living room, waiting for my HC1400 and wire for the big 3 to get here first.... also, max power means nothing, look at the RMS ratings, and match those. Don't think your subs MAX rating will take that hifonics RMS rating. you'll have pretty expensive paperweights pretty soon.
  5. didn't look at link yet, love my knukonceptz, also, had kicker in my blazer, that was nice and flexible.
  6. http://www.caraudio.com/forums/head-units/345928-alpine-9887-turning-off-internal-amp-sub-control.html 2nd post in thread.
  7. I didn't know this was possible to do.. Instructions please? ill 2x check, i think i did with this one, i know my last one i had the internal amp turned off, its been 2-3 years since this got installed, so i don't remember every little bit, but i remember for a fact on my old JVC (god i miss that thing, was 3 way active capable) i had it turned off.
  8. I'm going to do the big 3 and an alt i think, i just got off the phone with excessive amperage (nobody makes shit for a 2010 lancer...) and his interwebz shit on him so he's about to call me back once he gets it up and running. Im going to do the big 3, its just a bitch working under the hood of that lancer, I'm 6'6 290 and there just isn't much room for me in there, and the alternator is squashed between some other shit...
  9. according to maxxsonics tech support, short inside of amp, can this be caused by my lack of electrical? Should i go with a bigger/second battery, or should i go with a bigger alt? (assuming money isn't an issue, but alt and bat is out of question)
  10. Powers on but the protect light is lit and it won't go off....ive been bassless for a week now i could put my old half working shitwood in for the time being...
  11. thanks, i have my internal amp turned off since the day i got it, its never been used actually, only the RCA outs. so i assumed i should be able to get to ~30....i think this weekend I'm putting in that EQ
  12. sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm looking at putting in a clarion EQ746 this weekend and this thread came up in my search of where a 9887 clips.... to the ears- clean all the way up to 28-30, and after that it doesn't get any louder at all. but my ears are not scopes either. I have a hard time believing that the 9887 and the 195 clip at almost the same points....does anyone else have info on this? Maybe it was just a bad HU....ive been known to keep my shit at 30-35 and my 4ch alpine hasn't complained once.
  13. yes, you treat your front RCA outs as highs, rear RCA outs as mids, and sub as sub. same way for the 9887. if you want to put speakers in your rear doors (idk why you would, i know the only reason ill put speakers in my rear doors again is if i don't have the time/money to glass my front doors to fit a 2nd set if the bass ever gets too overpowering), you would just have the RCA out of the high amp (hi chan) for the front doors go to the RCA in for the high amp (hi chan) for the rear doors, and same goes for the mids. (afaik at least) once i save up the money, I'm getting a 15 on ~2k-2500w, upgrading electrical, and probably glassing my front doors so i can still hear mids/highs.
  14. that looks really good, mines a full din though and thats only a half din. So id like to make some sort of faceplate i guess to keep it pretty (eventually). I have made a mounting kit from scrap composite panes and 1/4" flat stock aluminum i have in the basement, painted it and everything and it came out nice. I was told by best buy it was the least ghetto ghetto rig install they had seen (only ghetto in the sense that it was my first try at the shit and it was....meh....good for 16 and no experience with the shit though). I may just do that again for this, maybe see if theres any scrap lexan at work...hmmm....putting smoking, i mean thinking cap on....
  15. got any pics of yours sitting in the dash? I wanna see how it'll look before i tear out my dash.
  16. Hmm...then i may be able to install it real easy, damn spring time, i can't fight the urge to tear my car apart and tinker with shit. To top it off, I'm in the middle of a huge project/production for school. Don't have time for this but when i get home I'm most likely going to rip out my back seat, figure out my sub amp situation, then work on tearing my dash out, and work on fitting that guy in...im wondering if i could slide the ESQ into the slot under my HU, find where it would sit, drill holes and mount it that way...i may have all the parts in a box somewhere in the crawlspace, idk. If i were to mount this properly, I'm trying to figure out how it would fit in there (not just sliding it into the tray an drilling holes for the wires to pass through. 7V beats the outs from my 9887's 5V outs, I'm thinking since I'm crossed actively at the HU ill just run the front out (on ESQ) for my highs, rear out (on ESQ) for my miss and sub for my sub. plus i can just use a cheap stereo 1/4 to RCA splitter to use my iPod....im thinking more and more i may rip my dash out (which is a BITCH iirc, its been ~3 years and lots of killing brain cells for some of those, since I've pulled my dash) and putting this guy in....
  17. I've had one of these for 5 years, never installed it, do you guys like them? I have a din spot left under my HU thats currently just a tray to hold cigs and lighters and what not, but if the EQ on that thing is nice, ill look at fitting it into my car, i think i lost all the mounting hardware though...
  18. don't want to void the warranty by opening it up yeah, I'm hoping thats it, hopefully tonight ill get home early and can tear my back seat out to get to my amps, or i start class late tomorrow will check wires and come back with my findings
  19. didn't get around to the big 3 (yet), was going to do that today since i had the day free, seems like ill do it later though. Im running mine at 2 ohms though. Im not putting a ton of strain on my electrical. Sometimes the lights would dim, never too badly though...this is just my luck
  20. thats why i figured i didn't blow it, it doesn't smell in my trunk, or in my car. But now i gotta pull the back seat to find out if its even powering on/lighting up....hopefully a wire came loose or some shit (shouldn't have, but shit happens) Somehow, my clarion PXW1251s have toughed it out through 2 cars, 4 different amps so far (got them like 4 years ago), and still sound good, and i only paid 70 a piece for them....amps on the other hand, not the greatest luck lately.
  21. Well, a few weeks ago the amp would cut out on me occasionally, till i powered it down and started it up, my guess is due to having stock electrical still. Yesterday, on my way up to Road America, it completely died....Swapped the fuse in my dist block, still nothing. Tested the fuse, not blown, nor is the new one thats currently in there. What gives? Did my amp seriously shit out on me in right over a month? Did i kill it from weak electrical? To run any further tests i have to pull my back seat so that i can actually get to the amps, would it be worth checking out or do you guys think its just toasted? I never smelled cooking electronics though, so i didn't think i had burned it up. Any info you guys can share is appreciated considering onlinecarstereo and maxxsonics are closed cuz its sunday. Thankfully, yesterday i didn't care that it happened cuz a guy i had just met let me take his modded 911 turbo around road america (WAS FUCKING SWEET), had that not happened, id probably be flipping a shit still, lol
  22. are you looking for 3 cubes at 36 Hz within those dimensions, cuz your dims are way off, i just did a design for myself for the future, external dim 30x17x21.5 port was 3.5x15.5x35 and it came out to about 3.8 cubes at 32Hz. What vehicle is this going in, SUV/Hatch or trunk car? Which way do you want the subs/port firing? I run 2 12s in my 2010 lancer, and i run subs back port into drivers side wheel well and get good results, I'm thinking about changing it up to see if theres a difference or not. Ill need a few more details.
  23. cz: i was being a smart ass, id say like blown engine said, intake exhaust and programmer would yield the best results. (since i know you aren't going to wanna give up your bass)
