Does anyone know where to get the mirror covers that are the same color as my car? Obviously the Chevy dealer but I want to avoid that if possible. Its a charcoal black tahoe. Thanks, Kasey

true that. in essence you should already have fuses sufficient enough to stop the load from ruining your equipment. fuse only if you want to.

yeah 1/0 is heavy stuff so the torch will supply it with the heat it needs. and yeah crimp then solder if you can if not soldering is still better.

soldering strengthens the connection to the point where its not coming undone on you. crimping is not "extremely inferior" if you know what you are doing and not just trying to clamp the ring terminal to the wire. you first should crimp the connection then solder it because that way you know the wire won't come undone. if you use the technique that Steve shows on here where you let some drip through the bottom then it ensures that you have a connection between the copper in the wire and the contact surface of the ring terminal. use a torch though because 1/0 will take some time to heat up and get a solid connection.

the big three allows more current to travel to the batteries from the alternator. it bulks up connections to allow higher amounts of amperage to flow. if you look at the wire going from the alternator positive to the battery, I know on my car, it is tiny. you are limited by that wire to get current. stepping just the positive wire up to a nice 2/0 size increases voltage. so yes the big 3 will make a difference.

yeah I don't know what that is... my friend uploaded a video of my system in "HD" and all it is, is just bigger. there is no way its better resolution. honestly like 5 minutes. but then again I am pro at exporting in the right format and uploading. But thanks everyone

I was in your position once. I read a few things about car audio and had some very basic skills under my belt and then once I ordered everything for my build, I grew a pair and registered on this forum. Best thing to ever do. I had looked around on this forum and read basically every one of Steve's builds and then as I went through each step of my build; box, wiring, electrical I remembered each tid-bit in Steve's builds and went back and depicted them for details then asked on the forum what to do if it didn't turn out like I wanted. I want to go to car audio school soon too... once I graduate. Oh and if you are ever down about your build and how you think you will never finish... Get a demo from Steve. You will have the rest of the motivation left to finish. Hell get a demo from anyone on this forum, they all seem to know there s*** Glad I could help. and also last thing I would recommend going through some of my topics and posts because I asked a bunch of the newb questions that are necessary.

I have always learned that lights correlate with electrical therefore if your lights dim your electrical is not strong enough. even HID's? it is also pretty rough on your alt if your lights dim.

you will find as you go along in the build that Steve's builds, even though massive, are helpful for the techniques he uses. also post as many questions you have on here along the way. I did and it helped a bunch. spend a lot of time on the box to get it right the first time. if you can invest in some mids and highs unless you already have some because in my experience with one Fi Bl 18" it overpowers a lot of the highs. sub up, port back on the box btw. thats how lots of SUV's are done.

sounds good to me. what car are you putting this in? also in order to achieve the 150 you will need to have a well-built box. powermaster, kinetik, and optima. can't go wrong with either. quality in order respectively IMO.

save for electrical. first get a good alternator to power the batteries you need. an amp is only as powerful as the power you are providing it. kind of an obvious thing but if you have a 2000 watt amp and you only add a battery and keep your stock alt than chances are you aren't going to hit that 150db

I have just noticed something. Whatever the person that responds is running is most likely going to say run what they are running. I did it and solo_x18 did it. So IMO the best thing to do would be listen to what other people have. Go to shows locally and ask the guys what they have. All of the competitors are going to be glad to tell you since they have put so much time into the builds.

can't go wrong with Rockford Fosgate. it might be a little pricier than some other brands but you get bang for your buck. I have the t1000.1bd and it pushes 1400 watts clean power. another good brand I have heard of but I haven't experienced with is Sundown. crutchfield has a good selection and sonicelectronix fills in the gaps for what crutchfield doesn't have. haha "status" used to be: a loud system (20,000 watts) check large rims (26" rims) check fast car (ok maybe the V8 is pushing it even though he upgraded lots of things for performance) so check but now its "I have my own Sub, what do you have?" straight legit. I can't wait to hear how this thing pounds.
