Can anyone tell me how the different organizations class single cab truck boxes? I build a box for a buddy of mines truck, 2 12s facing up the the box is 12.5 inches wide and extends forward of the B-pillar. I build it like that because I read in Usaci rules that in single cab trucks, as long as it fits behind the seats and they still lock into positions they can still run the stock class. and wont be considered a wall or port war class. But now a few ppl at my local comps are calling me out on the build saying its a wall, when technically is would have to be port war if anything since its in front of the B-pillar, I think they are just scared that my buddy might win finals. Anyways, How do other major organizations classify a box like this in a single cab truck?

no exactly sure on that, but the smaller box volume the better it will play the higher notes if its tuned low like that

if you tune pretty low I would go for 16. if you tune higher, like around 38 or more, go closer to 12. a smaller port will help you still be able to play below tuning. the box i did tuned around 38 had 12.5 per cube

Yea, i should have some numbers with them on 3k this weekend, but im having to rebuild that box so i can have the guy compete with it, I went my usac's rule, of if it fits behind the seat of a single cab then its good no matter if it comes in front of the b pillar. but some ppl thought i was cheating. next one will be 1.75 per sub, port on drivers side, hopefully it will still get good numbers.

that wont be hard, i got a 140 out of 2 sa 12s in my buddies truck with just 380 watts. and firing forward forward out of a trunk isnt always loud, you would most likely do better flipping the box around, ive gained alot from it

35hz, it will should still play pretty low and will will be a bit louder than 30hz tuning

its gettin every frequency in a certain range to be at the same level. so from 25 to 55hz or so youll be at the same decibel level, makes music sound much better

so in just a few weeks of having this system in, my buddys truck is already known for the bass at his school. Funny story, I was about to demo for another friend of a friend, and we walked past this blue dodge. the guy started saying "oh man, i know this truck. It sounds so awesome." i asked him if he knew who built it, and he was like, i wish i knew. so i just pointed to myself and smiled, haha. Anyway, i guess im getting a good word out around here about sundown, and my box building skills on a side note, does anyone wanna guess what these might do with 2 1500s strapped on them at 1ohm? Im wanting to do it, but im afraid i might cripple his subs, haha. I kinda doubt it though

its probably recommended for a flatter response curve. there wont be that much of a difference between 30hz and 33hz tuning either, seems like your making them compare like its 30hz and 40hz. i have a pair in my friends truck and its at 37~38hz and it still gets every low in decafs music. Port size will help your box extend below tuning better.. his are also in ~2cubes each, because we planned on using an sax1000. but now we have a sae1200 so i might be redoing it at 1.75 per sub

What does WAY TO mainstream have to do with anything? there is plenty of mainstream stuff that is good, and a shit ton of non known stuff thats shitty. and like n8ball said, dont tune anywhere around 18hz. unless you listen to just chopped and screwed stuff you wont even want to tune around 30. Ive had boxes ranging from 22hz to 55hz. and from all that, tuning around 34 hz is the lowest youd really want to go, even if your music is all slowed, if not, maybe 36~38hz save below 25hz for ht setups as for a sub, you cant go wrong with a sundown 15 I would also get atleast a second batt to help that amp out.

I knew that haha, I use that same type of thing to explain how much louder my car is than other ppl at comps, and why getting there isnt that easy.

what kind of sub is it? there baskets are usually glued to the motor too, ive had luck with just a flat head screw driver

Are you upgrading any of the mechanical power handling too? Or is it already up to par for adding power

so, i found a used SAE1200D, supposedly only 3 weeks of use he should be a bit louder soon, we are gonna run some bigger wires tomorrow and maybe get the big 3 done

i would step down to 2 12s and do a box that is either subs and port back, or subs forward and port to the drivers side in the rear of the trunk.
