So, theres this thing goin on where everyones parents are gettin on a facebook now, even my mom. I was thinkin thats wierd.. But, she posted a pic of me with a trophy from a comp i was at a few weeks ago. A guy saw it, and asked about me wiring up a system on his boat. Ive never done a boat system before but i couldnt turn it down. He already had 4 10 inch woofers mounted on a wake board tower, all he needed was for me to run all the wires and mount the amp. He also needed the lights on the tower wired up, so i did that too. the boat the woofers The amp, A zappco 1000.4 this amp was different that any other amp ive had. It had some symbylink thing that connects to the amp instead of rcas. then i realized.. boats arent metal. so i didnt see any good grounds. I decided to do two runs of wire, power and ground the wire, 2 20 ft runs the amp mounted, and added some bolts to use for power and ground terminals the amp had fans on it so i wired up a relay to turn them on, i also did a relay for the lights on the tower.

well now im glad i didnt jump on the 3500 train, will there be anything like a 5500 in the works too. also wat size fuse? because i have trouble finding anything over a 300 and i know itll take something bigger.

well he did have the remote turn on running through the window when he had it wired straight to the battery. hes also got the factory amp and the new amp both on top of the box where it looks like it will be touchin the trunk lid. the amps were screwed to the sub box, but the sub box isnt bolted down.

not even a fuse... but hes older than me.. so he knows wat hes doin,, ummm not

dont know if this is the right place to post.. but i gotta bitch about some crap. so Ive been into car audio for about 4 years now. i redo my stuff all the time, i install for friends, and last week i did a boat install. All while doin this my neighbors see me, they know wat im doin and they know im good at it. So about a week ago im talking to my neighbor and he said hes gettin a system, about 2 days ago they start working, im out messin with my car too like always and i see them looking in the trunk, playin under the hood, messin with the dash. and i start wondering i wonder if they ask for my help. cuz i always like to help ppl with their systems, specially when i know they dont know wat they are doin, like my neighbor. So that day goes by i get home from work and see they are still workin on it. so i just laugh to myself. the next mornin i get out i see them still workin and i start on my car again. finally at the end of the day i see subs next to the car. but thats all. today i work on my car again and see them out, still workin. so i laugh to myself again, because its so easy to ask me for help, ( its his dad that refuses too, i guess he's ashamed that i know more about it then him,.. idk). I leave for work come back, im hangin out with my ex and say, "look over there, theyve been trying to put that in for a few days now as still havent finished" and we both laugh. about 30 mins ago she leaves and i say to myself im gonna go over and see how far they are, cuz i started to hear some music but no bass. I get over there, the kids mom says ive been telling them to go get you,.. I look in the car, is just the wiring thats done. so i thought. i got back to the trunk and tell his dad ive got an oscope to tune the amp better, he says ohk cool. then i see wires goin to the amp. 12 gauge speaker wire, 10 gauge power and ground, and it looked like 12 gauge for the remote turn on. i couldnt tell how the subs were wired but ill check tomorrow when i help tune it... if they actually ask. But i ask his dad," Is that 10 gauge power wire?" he said yea, its 10 and we have it connected to the battery with vice grips right now too.( i hope its temporary) I tell him, you should get some bigger power wire for that. Ill let the amp get more power. He looks at me like im a dumby and says i know, i know,.. but he dont need anymore power for it. I just look way and sigh. I think the amp is a memphis 500 watt amp so i guess it will work, but it could be better. he also had the remote lead vice gripped to the battery too. i told him about the remote turn on wire coming out of the radio.. so thats where its hooked up now. the car is a mustang that had a factory sub and amp for the sub. He still has that hooked up too. i guess it could work for a little midbass, but idk where its crossed over at. its already got factory components in the doors that have good midbass. i tell him it may sound better to unhook those, but he said no again. so i guess thats my bitchin for today. its full of grammatical errors and unpunctuated sentences. but thats how it came out of my head... and im sure im right on most of the things i bitched about too. anyone else know any dumb ppl like this, that refuse help from a knowledgeble person??

yea. depending on how cheap or expensive the multimeter is you get more or less internal resistance from just the meter. ive got one that wont go below 1.5 ohms, even when i parallel speakers to 1/4 ohm.

so whos bringin the smd banner so i know were everyones at?? my car has a sundown sticker on the back glass for anyone looking

Ive heard that, and thats the way i get metered. I just here ppl talking about designin a setup for dash or headrest scores. So i guess you need a meter to be about to test and tune, or it would be quicker atleast.

How do you design as system where it targets a meter for a specific comp organization? Like making it louder at the head rest, dash, or kick.

thanks. this is my first box where i can change out ports.. I dont really demo before the shows much so im just going to put my comp port in before i head up there. it takes a good amount of time for me to change the ports out too.

yep im comin. classes are sq in of subs 0-250(stock batt), 251-500(one extra batt), 501-750(2 extra batts) 751-up( unlimited batts) ill be there in either 0-250 or 251-500. im bringin a friend who is gonna be in the 0 250 class.

I just wanted a quick way so multiple strips, takin one out each time worked great. I think all that drilling holes does is help draw in the resin. I just made a box with a kerf port i tried to drill holes for the resin but it got to be a hassle. i had to hold the wood bent to drill the holes too. i also backed the kerf with a layer of fiberglass heres a link to the build i just did http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...mp;#entry629336

i do the same. I just did a box the port was 8 inches wide so i made my kerfs with a 4 inch radius. for port area. the area you look at is the area thats isnt kerfed

ive got a single dayton in both front doors now. each in a small sealed box filled with acousta stuf and they sound great

you might have to keep an eye on me then. after i get my box im workin on now done, ill be workin on new door panels to put 2 7"daytons in each. But how i do it is i go and get door panels from a salvage place and strip id down to just plastic and start from there
