  1. Minnesota banned it a while back. Seems they found it illegal because it assumes the owner is the driver. (my over simplified explanation) You'd think this would apply to parking tickets too
  2. It might take a bit of the ol Trigonometry to figure out your volume, but I saw this video and it looked pretty wild. Saves time building the box, you just need endcaps. http://www.viddler.com/explore/SYSTM/videos/99/ Here is the what I mean: Some other people experimenting: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_6_3/...ptember-99.html I couldn't find any info on the El Tubo stuff, but the options for application are endless.
  3. lol, that is pretty cool man. never heard of annything like that. judging from your sig pic, i don't think there's anyone around to steal your stuff
  4. lol, so if your stereo is worth more than your car? probably a good idea. well, lots of good things coming from this dark incident. its 3 years old but I still get such a creepy vibe from this video. there has to be bad karma for people that do this. and the scratches, it almost seems personal
  5. anyone have this? Pm me if they do because its a real treat to play with people. my god it is fun. more hours of play than I had expected too
  6. Un-frickin-believable. only in Cali. out here in MN its too cold to spend that long trying to steal something. People only steal a car thats already running with the heater on I keep debating whether to keep my car in the garage or out. Garages only serve as cover it seems and I doubt I'll be openly displaying those kicker stickers that came with my speakers.
  7. I know this feeling. I too have speakers that seem like something common, but are completely unknown. Google is not helping. Oh well. Maybe I'll pull them out the box and see if any further info is on the magnets (tho I doubt it). They say R/T
  8. Some of the nicest people can be found here. Just about everyone is willing to bend over backwards for you and vice versa. I don't know of many other forums with such fast responses and being able to PM just random people have them give advice. Very good.
  9. Funny, I live in the 47th biggest city in the US and I have zero walmarts. One nearby my work is closed to reopen as"super." I guess I need some kind of fabric to cover my box, so I need to go to a walmart or fabrics store anyhow. Anyone seen fabric to cover their box at walmart?
  10. I don't know if Home Depot has it, but its probably called something else because I've searched hi and lo. Any suggestions for a common chain store that would carry it or do I need to head to a specialty audio shop?
  11. Looks like they replaced the old link http://www.zshare.net/download/57419766a4b2ffef/ its the new one now. Again, all thanks to user ExpoSport!
  12. Ok, I am a retard. 3/4" mdf X2 -14.5" front panel= 13" lol But I still don't get how the manual and the box calc differ by .5 inch. And where is the new one?
  13. The new one might, the old one doesn't seem to work that way. I thought i had found it but it was the old one. WE need links! LOL
  14. hell yeah, a cut list even! thanks rob. now if i could only decide what box to do. everyday it switches. it was supposed to be built yesterday, but with each moment I change my f**** mind. Grrr. lol, wait, where do i get it? ok, i found it... man, only a few people have grabbed it! get it out!
  15. Oh and the manual says 14.5 X 14.5 times 11 but for some reason the side of the box is only 13 inches high? LOL?? Ok.
  16. Man, 1 cu ft seems small, but this is what I was able to do to hit 1 on the nuts. This will be in two chambers, so I'll have to double it up on the with & accommodate for the divider, but this is pretty wild. Kicker recommends a tight box:
  17. Depends on the wood. I like a good stain myself. My preferred application would be two coats of umbilical blood, but that shits expensive. Can you imagine the raw spiritual power you'd be putting out from your box?
  18. I know the frustration of this 'hobby.' I hate just looking at speakers I can't hook up because the wires aren't in and the damn amp is at the post office... frustrating. Why can't i just bring it home and it works after a few minutes like a home theater? LOL.
  19. So yeah, 3 years behind (as always) but anywhere I can find out if they caught the guys or what? Sorry, but this has me riveted (the video and the glorious comeback) [edit] just watched the thing to the end, do they get it stuck or hung up on something as they pull out? Wtf, I just want to beat the kid behind the wheel.... he runs like a ninny and doesn't even seem to know how to drive.
  20. lol, pretty good poll. its all tied up.
  21. What I was going to ask is if the speakers came unwired, then perhaps too much wattage was going into the others? I figured the change in resistance is a good failsafe that kick in, but for example, if my amp is mono: 456 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (657 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) And I have 2 speakers hooked up @ 2 ohms and suddenly one comes unplugged somehow (wouldn't happen with the way DVC 2 ohms are wired up, but theoretically speaking) the other would get quite a jolt. This example doesn't really work because I'd probably hear it and turn it down quick, but if it happened when they were new and not broke, good lord.
  22. Anyone know if the theft video link is still hosted? cldnt get it to work. maybe i'll try when i get home
  23. That is the whole thing that has me seriously worried. Where does it end? Lets just hope the 'kicker fairy' doesn't come ruin my day and blow any of these
  24. I'm good man! The link provided gave me this: http://www.diamondaudio.com/PDF/current/Wi...edEnclosure.pdf I just wanted an already done box so I don't have to worry about anything. I figure that box can be done using only a 6' X 4' piece of 3/4" mdf no problem, possibly I might come up a bit light for scrap in the 45's, but I'd like to try using a resin for that or something. I wonder how people make sure they have a tight seal between speaker and box? The box I own, the guy frickin glued the subs down, which I do not feel like doing.
  25. I am getting way into this. Honestly I was a tad scared beforehand, despite having help from like a pro boxmaker. This kid makes tons of beanie bag boxes for friends and has done these before. Its just having to take the time to sketch out the cuts and materials that I was worried about. got the brain out of mothballs. Still don't know what DAT is though. [EDIT} lol, oh duh, Diamond Audio, i'm a jackass. Either way, need to dig up those specs for rounded corners again.
