  1. hey, thats a lot of thick curly hair to get moving. you did pretty good. i would be proud of that.
  2. i think you just have to add "youtube" "/youtube" around the embed. but i dont know.
  3. haha, fail on the links. and sounds like the hair trick. lol fix it so i can see.
  4. no, you cant rewind them. you can just buy a new recone kit. the reason being, you have to cut the spiders and surround to get to the coil. so you have to replace them all at once.
  5. i like to stare at people picking their nose in their car. its really funny to see the look on their faces when they look up and see you glaring at them. i dont give them any "look" i just stare. lol ive got a really funny story about my friend mooning some one but it takes a lot to explain and im not sure you want to put that in a paper lol.
  6. x2 what the hell was he trying to say???? dont listen to this.... you would have to do something really stupid for a prefab box to sound better than a custom built one. how big is your port? is it subs forward port forward? is the box just sitting in the trunk or do you have it sealed off? if its not sealed off are you willing to do some cutting to make that happen? if you have it sub and port forward, not sealed, just try turning the box around. it can make a big difference in some cars.
  7. lol yes, i am aware of that. but if its off by .5 im not sure how much i can trust the other readings as well. my cheap clamp meter is probably crap as well. once i get the good meters from my dad, i will retest and see if there is a difference.
  8. will do. i went out and got some JL 8awg but i need to take it back. its already green!! lol. but the good news is, i got a job. lol, or it means i shouldnt trust my meters.
  9. ok, i found out why my subs were reading 2.5ohm. with no resistance my DMM is reading .5ohm. im going to see if i can borrow some better meters from my dads work.
  10. i dont get it... 5k of what? how thick and big is the plexi?
  11. my friend responded to a truck add and bought it the same day the guy posted the add.
  12. every time ive seen some one do a ton of small woofers like this, it always seems to be a failure. maybe itll work in a diamond though. id go with the 12's if it were me.
  13. i wasnt trying to be a dick at all. maybe youve been at this for years and only just joined this forum, or maybe your brand new and dont know a thing. its better to bring things up and make sure you know what's ahead of you than to keep quiet and you might miss something big. remember if your port is 6" wide, you want at least 6" from the port to the back hatch.
  14. all the way huh? so you have an HO alt picked out? what batteries are you going with? how many runs of power and ground? what size wire? are you ok with the subs tearing apart your car? cause they will break stuff. not trying to badger you, just want to make sure you know about the electrical side. since you only have 15 posts i just assume your relatively new to car audio. when it comes to a setup like this, its not so much about what type of box. its more about what can fit. ill guess you wont have much other choice than to go subs up, port up. use a lot of bracing. use a few pieces all thread. id go more into it but its late and im tired.
  15. oh, its only 6 cubes? thought it was bigger. alright, i have a few ideas to play around with this box for now. thanks for keeping up on this guys.
  16. but you have 3 6" ports for 4 12"s. i have 2 6" ports for 2 12"s. i dont know how big your box is but it looks like i have more port area per cube than you do. it just sounds like im in that peak. i think next time ill tune lower so i can get to 45hz after that peak and still have good range for music.
  17. ok, so based on this graph and the info in that link i just read, i should be reading that peak in your graph. so if i were to look at 40hz i should be between those 2 peaks and see a low ohm rating. it also tells me if i were to tune lower i could get my 45hz peak after the spikes... but it wont be as efficient at 45hz? so it might be the same thing, more power but less efficient. or tune higher and get the best of both worlds but that wont be very good for music... did i just learn something new or am i off?
  18. eh, wasnt much info. just said that you need to test and make a small box. but the last post on page 1 is helpful. lol well that would be cool and i would write it inside my box, but i couldnt ask anyone to do that. not sure if drew has extra 8awg. if he does, its all prestons lol. but he is an hour away, might as well buy the wire with the money i'd spend on gas lol. by the way... im scared for drew now. i always told him i felt like i was being watched when i was at his house...
  19. well... ya... arnt you suposed to pee on it when it starts clipping? lol the reason i point out stinger is because the pieces of rockford have not turned green. just the stinger. hmm. but maybe some of those notes will help? i didnt get to read it yet but im about to. yes its a daily driver.
  20. ill see about testing the wires. what would i see by inverting the subs? just a little change or a big one? im not using bolts. the wires come straight out of the box and into the amps. i did notice 2 pieces of 8awg were turning green at the amp. fuck stinger...
  21. ive got a local shop i can buy 8awg from. i just dont want to buy anything other than gas and food till i get a job. that would be crazy if the solder joints were the problem. bangin caddy would never let me hear the end of it. lol
