I feel like a proud Uncle waiting for my Nephew to come home from the hospital
I cant wait to see this beast ready for war!
I may be coming out that way for ces this yr. If I do I can always bring the meter you'll just have to drive to Vegas~
It is just bolted to the basket. I'm sure if you wanted you could glue it in place but if by chance you wanted to say upgrade from a lvl 5 10 to a lvl 6 10 you would want to keep the rings. I know I am and yes they will accomodate the lvl 6 motor diameter.
For 3500 watts on the pr. I would do 3cu total after displacement with the standard 4 spider configuration. If your gonna go with more power 2.5 cu. before displacement for a pr.
The 5th member of the lvl 5 10 family was born unto the world today.
It was also the first to be built with the Thorshammer Package including a mounting ring that turns it into a 12 in mounting diameter eliminating the split baffle.
I'm without internet (other than phone) so I can't get pics up. Will post asap
The lvl 5 coils will help you put more to them thermally yes. You still would benefit from the much larger motor, sewn tinsel leads and heavier spiders.
Agreed! The xl is gonna be closer to the hdc than the lvl 4. I've ran AQ and they have some great sheyot. Hell I even helped field research with the 8 layer suspension they now put on the aluminum recones.
You will definately like the deep smooth rumblings of the DC over AQ.
Welcome to the Dark Side!
It more closely resembles the look of the lvl 5 with a much taller top plate and bottom plate. Sitting next to a lvl 5 motor and it looks massive! I am told that my mounting rings will accomodate the lvl 6 motor diameter. YES!!
Its gonna be a few months before DC will introduce these to the world as production but it sure is cool watching how these things come about!!
Pulled the floor to get sanded, glassed, and painted. Tried to squeeze another 2400 in the tire well but its too tall. I think I'll try 2 laying on thier sides tomorrow.
No they are both 6 spiders same pack. I thought they were space differently but both are 3.25 from spider joint to bottom of former. Instead of sagging Frankie actually stretch to rest in an outward position. Look at the pics In above post. You can see how the inner ring around the former is actually pushing out.
Pics showing that coil, spiders, former joint and cone all intact and would have continued to pound out had the surround not given out.
Side by side comparison with a new recone.
