  1. If your not to far along you really should start with the floor first. Building and setting the panels on a flat even surface will make things easier. If your going to cover where the bottom panel's edges meet the sides you dont need to be as precise with the angles. There are a couple of methods to meet weird shaped panels. One is just like your doing. Cardboard, marking with a pencil, cut, check and repeat until your happy. You can do even smaller sections and tape them all up into a pattern and transfer to a piece of wood. There are contour gauges that you can find at woodworking sites that work great. Some are flexible rubber guides that can be molded onto complex shapes to transfer the contour to a template. There is also a push thru wire type that does a good job as well. What your doing is looking good so far so just keep it up and Im sure it will turn out well.
  2. Take care of yourself first. Get your education and complete your goals as far as your education goes. The less responsibility you have doing this the easier it will be on you. Getting married and all that comes along with it as a huge responsibility, dont even fool yourself into thinking its not. I have been married 21 years, happily, so I have nothing against getting married. Thats just my 2 cents. I would do as mentioned above. Explain what you want, your goals and dreams and how what your doing is leading to achieving these goals. Thats not selfish, thats just smart. If she really loves you and wants to be with you then she should respect that type of commitment. She should feel lucky to be with someone with big plans, goals and aspirations of marriage. Just dont compromise yourself to please someone now and then regret it later.

  4. Thats a bad ass sheet metal shop. Puts my little 800 sq ft shop to shame. That brake is the shit. Im still all leg and arm powered. Maybe one day I will step up to some of those power setups. The Tahoe is coming along nice too.
  5. Good deal. Drive up, order, wait 15 min, get your picture taken then drive home with a free pie. Good stuff
  6. I will be there early. I missed all the shows earlier because of work, but I took off this Saturday. I dont have a car to bring but I will be there to check things out. Are they having it in that little lot of theirs of is it off site somewhere in the area? Maybe theirs more room around back than I know of.
  7. I have a 94 Z28 now. It was my Wife's, Grandmothers old car. Hot rod Granny. It only had 17,000 miles on it when I bought it 7 years ago. Still in pretty good shape and runs great. Will be out getting my pie in a few hours.
  8. Free pizza for me tonight I wish I could find my old Camaro. I had a 68 18 years ago. I had to sell it, lost my job, just had my first son and had to pay the mortgage and buy food. I miss my Baby.
  9. Straight Simple Green, undiluted. I was surprised just how good that stuff worked. I tried all that caned foaming stuff before and none if it did as good of a job as Simple Green. Had to brush a few places and hit it twice but most of the gunk just ran off with no problem. Warm engine and hosed it off.
  10. Thats basically what I saw people doing. But with an additional piece of MDF used as a base with dowels or brackets holding the tube up. The sub firing into the base. A lot of the tubes were carpeted and looked pretty good. Some were down right impressive. Heres a page with some good picts of one ..... sonosub
  11. I didnt take any picts of the redo, just have another with grill cover on it. I use the online calculator Here to get my recommended port areas and lengths. I havent messed with DC subs so I will leave those recommendations to the experts. If you need a big aero just get some Sonotube from HomeDepot. Dont know if you have seen one of those Sonotube sub enclosures or not but you ought to search them up. I have never heard one in person but most everyone that has built one seemed pleased with them. Just a 12 dia tube 4-6 feet tall with a sub installed in the bottom basically. A little more work than that but you get the idea.
  12. Heres my car sub home audio setup. 2 Rockford T1's (2 of assmans old subs) in a big ass box I got off eBay. The box was originaly 10^3 and tuned to 10hz with to TC1000's. Way to big for me to fit where I wanted it. I cut 14 inches off the back and reworked the whole box smoothing it all down and hitting it with gloss black and a custom job on the back. I have it tuned around 27hz +- . Big 10" pvc port on the side with 0 port noise. Run a Behringer EP2500 to power it. It will shake the hell out of the whole house, is devastating with movies and sounds great with music. Mainly use it for music, jam in the house all the time. I would say just go for it and see how you like it. Maybe even consider one of those Sonotube sub setups. You could place that behind the TV and have it fire down. Cheap and easy to make sub enclosure.

  14. I had 1 10" under my seat and it took up half of the floor. It was a Type-R and I had about 1.3 cubes when finished and ported. Im guessing that your raising your seat some to fit 12's and gain some space for the box. To keep my seat stock I could only fit 11 1/2" on the face of the box. Im in the process of taking it all out now and loosing the seat for a big tapered T-Line setup. I made a temp setup with a TC-9 12" on 600 watts and was blown away. New box will be bigger and tuned lower with 1200 watts but will take up the whole back of the truck. Good luck with the build. Cant wait to see what he comes up with to fit 4 12's under the seat. Heres my setup. I really do need to clean that truck out
  15. Just got some funds and I need some 1/0 wire. You have an email. Do you sell any other install accessories, fuse holders etc?
  16. Im running 2 of those old T1's in my living room. Wish I could have heard the truck. It was all torn down by the time I got to see it.
  17. Well getting metered is on hold now. His transmission is taking a shit. Im afraid to take it on a long trip much less drive it around local. Im still going to check out the show on Sunday. Hopefully I will get to see some of you there. Now Im planning on how to put all this gear in his next vehicle. How about a 15 in MOJO in a T-Line arm rest enclosure. I gotta do something cool in that old beater. Next ride will be a 1990 F-150.
  18. If your going to build it to their spec then its 6ft^3 with 40 sq in of port 10" long. I would do a square or round port if you going that small. Unless they recommend something different. Normally it does change with the size of the enclosure. I dont build anything to spec anymore. I try to stick around the recommended enclosure size but use the calculators to get the port area and lengths. I have been sticking with 14 - 16 sq in of port per cube. Most calculators come out around 12in. per cube. I used Alpines specs on my first design with a 3" round port for my 10" Type-R and it had some mad port noise. Thats why I find my own port area and lengths now. You could always make the port removable and then you have the option to try different lengths and sizes to see what sounds best. Thats a lot more work though.
  19. Then if you just want big and to have some fun try it in a T-Line box. Im about to try my first for my 12" TC-9. Guessing at your cone dia center to center of your surround at 16.5 in I came up with this. You would need a constant port area 18" X 11.8" 8.8 ft long. That would give you your mounting depth easily and you could probably stick with a single layer of 3/4 mdf since the box will be braced all the way thru. Its probably around the same size as the 6 cube box you were going to build.
  20. Like the other poster added the box would be better off double walled and braced front to back and top to bottom. I have never seen or used one but from the specs it looks like a monster, in weight and brutality.
  21. Thats 40 sq inches X 10" long. That seems really small to me. Which speaker do you have the APX18Q2 or the APX18Q.5 ? Going by the port area rules I have read your looking at 72 - 96 sq in of port area. That and the length depend on the box. And the 6ft^3 is the area you need to net after port and speaker displacement. I dont have any fancy modeling software but using an online calc real quick I got this. 6 X12 port 18.58 in long. Thats for 32hz tuning with your box being net 6ft^3. Port length changes if you make the sides different lengths but keep the same area, just so you know. If you went to the max 96 sq in you would be 6 X 16 22 in long.
  22. Thanks for the welcome. Thats a haul for us. A good 2-3 hour ride. We got the sub and amp from a guy in Hagerstown on a trade a few months ago. Great guy, even hooked my boy up with wiring, a fuse and fuse holder and 2 1-4 gauge reducers. If this turns into an obsession Im sure we will make it up there one day.
  23. What day are you going? He is off Sunday so both of us could ride up then. If Saturday then it would just be me. He can take my truck to work I will take the car. I live just off 50 before the Kent Narrows bridge.
  24. Cant find Parkville on the map. Keep comming up with Parkville, MD ?
  25. Any info on both of these would be appreciated. Thanks for the welcome. Frederick is about 1hour 45min from here. I live about 10 minutes past the Bay Bridge. We went all the way to Hagerstown to trade a game system for his sub and amp so driving isnt a big deal. Not sure where Parkville is but I will look it up on Google. Are most of these comps play what you got? I dont know the rules on these. Never been to a competition before. Would love to sit in one of the real beastly systems once or twice for a demo Been there quite a few times. Have done a lot of work out on the west side. Spent a lot of time in Frederick and the surrounding area.
