  1. So whats the deal with these surrounds you have? Just curious if this is a change for all lines or only because you need then sorta deal. I like the high roll but i have also torn more high rolls then half rolls so im on the fence whether i like the idea.
  2. they sure are and they do a good job waking people up. haha
  3. You said it brother.
  4. So you would tune a entire system around one part of a song that plays 16 hz? I know this isnt what you mean but you dont often listen to music under 30 hz, and if you do you need to use some discretion while doing so. Ray good info there. For me personally i dont rely/trust programs or specs. It may sound odd to guys who live by them but for me they dont hold much value. I test the results, the response, the ability to play with X amount of power in real life conditions. Dont forget the role your vehicle plays in loading the speaker, as well how it performs as a whole. All i rely on is my tests and experience doing it and what i think sounds good or loud.
  5. I dont know i personally have never broke a lead on any of my subs and i would like to say i play them hard. and if anyone ever demoed in my truck know i play 30 hz for a long time. I think if you are breaking leads your tuning is not the problem.
  6. 40 Hz perfect daily tune for Xls. They will still drop down and play 30 hz no problems.
  7. I agree with that 100%. Also being a guy who has ran both, i had better results with the XLs over the lv5 with 3000 watts per sub daily, bassrace, phychlone, and db drag.
  8. Geez almost like i know what im talking about hey.
  9. What organization is this, usaci? 156 in a caddy trunk thats impressive even door open.
  10. Im guessing its just a wider flange that bolts to the 10" basket prior to assembly allowing you to drop in mount, but keeping the regular 12 spoke basket so as not to be classed as a larger sub. am i close?
  11. I dont know who sells real aeros now, but partexpress sells precision ports. they make a 6" same deal. Here is a pic of the box i used, just pulled a sub and blocked the hole for street A. Tuning on this was i think 42 hz. Now this is where i will disagree with most everyone out there on where to tune a box, i dont like low tune. I have my reasons but i wont go into much detail on why to avoid arguments lol. But personal experiences show me much flatter response in car with boxes 40-45hz for daily. I dont look at box programs to tell me how a sub will react in a car, i look to the termlab and i graph every frequency -15 to +15 hz from my tuning. that will show me you response curve and its true. On top of that i dont like how low boxes sound on normal music. anyways here is the pic
  12. haha nice to see. but the guy he is with doesnt look happy. lol
  13. I have said it before and will say again i had a Stetsom 4k2d on a pair of lv3 12s stock with no problems!!!
  14. Yes maybe it true the only question is who gets the #25 motor? Im not sure how you think spacing thw basket off the motor increases excursion? You still have the coil centered in the gap at the same height and the same limits on the spiders and surround. There is no gain i can see except for a deeper sub.
  15. I tell ya you Texas boys need to smile a little more. 1 out of 3 in the pics. I know Wheels and the Legman, and Moose all smiled atleast once at finals. :tease:
  16. The trick is not to "turn the gain down," but to set it PROPERLY. You hear all kind of crazy methods of setting gains. Dont ask me how i have never done it before.
  17. If thats the case you better get on the phone!!!!!!!! I guess that means my 24 lv5s are soon to be ready?
  18. I personally like the box volume you are currently using. 1.7 cubes i have had very good results with single 12s in daily boxes. Time for a story..... lol Back 5 years ago i ran a single DD 9512 box was 1.7 cubes with a single 6" aero. Clamped power on the sub was 1700 watts, and it would burp 148.8, sounded good too. So if you are looking for power look at something around 1500 watts.
  19. Well at the end of this vid i show the current steering column movement. It is not getting swapped just yet so as it gets worse stay tuned. 2008 drive home from finals was bad it was about solid 6" of movement. This wont take long to get there now. You can see what all that steering wheel flex can do now. Also start of the vid was put together for the Birdman.
  20. I agree run with the Xls
  21. You wont want to power a pair of lv3s with only 600 watts anyways. They like lots of clean power, the rms rating is more of a minimum rating.
  22. Shaddy how so? Well good news is i gigured out why Jimbo ran like shit the whole drive back from finals.... Guess it was to loud. haha Seems the bass kniocked a few things lose in my ECM and was throwing out engoine codes, like the knock snesor, and electronic spark control module, causing it to alter the timming under acceleration. So i swapped in my spare ECM and presto no more problems. Now my only issue is how do i stop this one from being exposed to 165+ dB for 2010? Decided to put some protection thanks to RockHardSolutions. Made it 5x heavier then the old one. haha
  23. I would be done depending on a few things going on for sure. Tell me about the long drives...... Still working on getting Jimbo back into shape so he can make a few BC shows this year and show you guys. Or maybe you all start coming to AB shows? :drunk:
  24. Good score for a sub on its last legs.... Wait how many legs does Frank have? haha Better question is how many lives does he have?
