  1. So, if you recall, last year a certain Team Sundown Russia member from Voronezh put out this - http://www.stevemead...ealed-tl-score/ He took the National IASCA Advanced3 title for 2010 while being the loudest car on music in the Nation This year brings a new car - an Opel Omega station wagon and brings the sub count to 6 Sundown Audio z18v2's Amps will be several Stesom 14k's XS Power D3100's will provide the power Shok Industries Competition wire and accessories will be used throughout the build Front stage will run multiple Sundown Pro-Audio 10" mids on a SAX200.4 Some pics
  2. OP, and others...Have you tried using the e8v2's in the applications you are suggesting this potential 6.5" sub for? Whether it be and SQ 3-way front stage, rear fill or compact sub? We here in Russia, since recieving our first shipment of e8v2's have found them to be a remarcably potent driver for any of the above - it can play up to 200Hz so effortlessly that you'd sware it was designed just for that....heck even going up to 500hz isn't a problem - and that's all you're gonna need from a woofer in a 3-way front stage playing into 50hz down low.... yet put one or better two in a low tuned ported box and you can get them lows and have fast accurate bass response on even the most challenging tracks..... and you can run it IB I mean, sure a 6.5 is smaller and sometimes easier to fit, but you're still looking at doing alot of prep work if you are say planning to run a sub, even a small one in your doors.....might as well step up to 8" ....,y .02 on the subject
  3. I don't know what to say here...simply amazing....that car has to made out of foil
  4. and here's a long vid from the event where this was filmed...not much action here but a nice look at one of the first events of the season here in Russia...this was an SPL and Tuner show, hence the riced out rides
  5. The owner dropped by the shop last night for a quick session on the meter...it is about minus 9 F here... the amp settings are still very conservative as set prviously to let the subs break in... since the box needs to be moved to get to the amp, well nobody wanted to do that in the freezing cold and here's a vid taken by the owner earlier....phone cam FTL
  6. So some guys from Team Sundown Russia got together with some guys from Team DD for a quick session on the meter. Car: VAZ 2114 Headunit: Pioneer 88 Ampd: DD m4a Batteries: 2x Optima 75Ah + Oddyssey 2250 + stock 55 lead acid under the hood, 135A alt, big three in 0 awg welding wire subs tested: DD 3518f d1 with CF cone and cap and all available options Sundown z18v2 d1 with aluminum coil box is just under 3.5cf net with 75sq inches of port area this car belongs to a team DD member, his bats, his amp, his box that he built for the DD. The Sundown was dropped in after the DD showed it's maximum number and burped at the same frequency. I am not a fan of drop in testing personally and if done I would have liked to see clamped power figures, but it is what it is DD 3518 at 54Hz - 150.1 Sundown z18 v2 @ 54Hz - 151.3 batteries were not charged between burps, and there was a 200A fuse installed in front of the amp
  7. If anyone is\was thinking about this and having doubts...... do it! they make excellent woofers for a 3 way front-stage
  8. Any numbers? I'd like to do mid 40s..musically ummm, no sorry, don't think any of them got metered - they are outside of Moscow, so I don't see these guys. another guy burped a 149.9 at a comp last season with two sa12's and a SAZ3500 @ 0.5 ...I'll try to find his youtube vid - he had some nice flex going on when he put in his low tuned port. mid 40's on music should not be a problem with a saz3500 and 2 SA12 incidently, I got a chance to check out another customer ride today that had two z12v2's on Rockford T2500-1 ..this thing POUNDS the lows ... we metered 144.4 @ 29hz on music. his voltage wouldn't get above 12.9 (12.2-12.4 during most of the track) due to his alt being a total POS..... he came by to pick up a Mechman 240A unit to take care of that though - should be even better next time here's the vid it's freezing here - single didgits in Farenheight .... minus 14 Celcius FTL
  9. we have a few guys running a saz3500 @0.5 daily on two sa12's here in Russia...the last time I checked with one of them, the box was a bit under 3 cubes for the pair, around 2.7 net iirc
  10. 100% tru at this point all of the mids are in the rear ..... but this build is far from over I still have the doors to do but I didn't want to do them until I got the final word on the sundown audio pro mids ... so keep your eyes posted for updates ... Andy, you wouldn't by chance have the mounting depth on the sundown pro audio mids?
  11. just bumped into this vid from one of the team guys, though it was pretty cool fun starts at around 1.30
  12. Thanks! I'm passing the comments to Drugban... hopefully he'll have some time to get on SMD over the weekend.... here's another box he's working on at the moment....any guesses what's gonna be in it?
  13. Wow! Great score Steve!! Are you still running v1 Nightshades?
  14. Thanks for the comments guys!! Right now, I think there are 10 or so Team Sundown Russia builds from 2010 in the Sundown section - look for them you can also sub to Drugban's youtube channel - he is the guy doing most of these ( at least in the Moscow area) so he always has new vids up as well as vids of past installs http://www.youtube.com/user/Drugban2005 right now he's working on rebuilding the box for this mitsu lancer x after seeing the box in the Mazda MPS the owner asked if his could also be redone in a similar fashion, plus he needed more port area anyways and to reconfigure the port as it was being choked down by his hatch. he is also getting a Mechman alt installed to help power those saz1500's there's also an ESV Escallade in for a box - 2 SA15's going into that - that one actually has a semi-decent Rockford-Fosgate factory system in it, all that needs is more bass i'll try to put up some more bulds soon
  15. guess no one likes club music, right? ...I don't get it either... so here's some Jeezy and others rear hatch more deadner in it than some peoples cars, heavy as hell.... but that rear spoiler is hating us now.... system is still turned down, subs are fresh out the box and need a few weeks of playtime to loosen up
  16. lettuce be real tea ...all that's needed is a visa and he'll be right there doing work
  17. Here's more in-depth pics on how the recessed glass cover for the amp was done The above technique was used after seeing how Steve did his port in the Hoe... many thanks for the tip Mr. Meade
