  1. Thanks! I've actually heard DJM Direct mentioned before, so i searched for that the other day and found Tony on one of the S-10 forums... we're talking already, his price is better than anything I've seen on-line Shipping is looking to kill me though, the control arms are just under 60lbs and on-line USPS is quoting almost double the cost of the arms for shipping....to rephrase the old saying of something costing "an arm and a leg" - it costs an arm and an arm literally
  2. so, we're about to finish-up with my blowthrough here.... bed and cab are cut, seal installed, box is almost done with that in, and 4 Sundown Z18v2's my rear should drop down about 3-4" giving me a slight nose up rake.... so I'm looking at some way to drop the front to match - in my mind a 2' drop in the front will leave me level with enough supension travel and clearence to drive daily on our pretty rough roads.... What do guys think about the different options of dropping the front? 1 - 2" drop springs 2 - 2" drop lower control arms 3 - 2" lowering spindles from what little I know, spindles give the least negative effect on suspension travel and geometry. I am however inclined to go with the control arms since the come with bushings and I need to replace mines anyway (I have the hardest time finding any on-line retailer that sells the lower control arm bushings for 3G Rams with international shipping) - any drawbacks to these? how strong are most aftermarket control arms? the stock lower control arm on rams is beefy as hell what company to go with? DJM? Belltech? any others? Also... anyone have any experience with these - want to freshen up my front-end while I have it apart http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUSPENSION-DODGE-RAM-1500-02-05-BALL-TIE-ROD-ENDS-SWAY-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem20b04ae5a2QQitemZ140396651938QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories or should i go with mopar or at least moog?
  3. Nah, Lee is like 5'3 and the guy there is about as tall as Ronnie...plus I just saw the description of the thread where it says Andy Haman (can't say I've heard of him though, must be a newer guy) is mens fitness a big thing now in the US? I remember alot of the hardcore bodybuilders and bodybuilding fans looked down on it when it first appeared some years ago
  4. yah, Mr. Yates is a class act I used to eat, sleep and breath bodybuilding up until a few years ago, event competing on and off. I was upto 280's in the offseason and 240's on stage when I realized that i'm not willing to keep spending money on a hobby that doesn't make money for me...and I also realized that I don't have what it takes to make it a profession. My wife competes in Figure though, so I still get to be in the action
  5. That's pretty cool! Ronnie looks to be down in size quite a bit, but he's retired iirc I had a chance to meet Dorian Yates, Shawn Ray and Gunter Shlierkamph (sp?) a few weeks ago...acutally hung out for a while with Gunter bullshitting and jocking around, he said he might come back t competing next year
  6. 7. There was a regional comp this weekend and one of the Team Sundown guys was there to take the first place trophy car: Opel Astra OPC subs: 2x SA12's d2 amp: SAZ2500D 72Ah lead-acid under the hood and a Stinger 2150 in the back 149.4 at the comp dbrag legal sealed on the TL here's a vid testing the system a few hours prior to the comp: pics are a few and blurry...hoping to get more info on this later
  8. once "confiscated" it's not really someone's property.... now if they said "siezed" or "impounded" that would be an issue... somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that
  9. Hey, guys just wanted to update everyone on the results from a comp we had this weekend - this is SMT Russia http://www.smtrussia.ru/ a competition circuit ran by me and fellow car audio enthusiasts. It's both SQ and SPL with 5 SQ classes (based on cost of equipment used) and 4 SPL classes (based on cone area and placement - burps are sealed db drag style on the TL). As you can tell Sundown Audio Russia is one of the sponsors, plus alot of the competitors are members of Team Sundown Russia. here are the results of the Team Sundown guys: Class 1: (this is basically your IASCA 1-160, so single 12's, two 10's or 3 8's, one amp per sub, all equipment has to be in the cargo are, under the window line, up to two bats in the back) First place - 2 SA10's on a DD M4a - 149.5 (I'll try to find a pic of the setup later) Third place - SA8 on a SAZ3500, yep a single 8 - 143 Fourth place - 2 SA10's + SAZ2500D - 142.8 Class - 2 (this is pretty much the same as above but upto one 18 with no amp limits and more bats allowed) First Place - Sundown z15 v2 + SAZ4500D - 147.6 Second place - Sundown z18 v2 + RF T2001bd - 145.2 Class - 3 is pretty much advanced no-wall with a limit on cone area First Place - comrade Drugban with his Izh Oda http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/87226-another-156-from-team-sundown-russia/ - 156.2 (this is currently the loudest car in Moscow as far as scores in competition go) Third place - again D Style Audio http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/82090-mitsubishi-pajero-teamsundown-russia/ - 151.3 Extreme - this is pretty much all the walls, extreme rides, etc.... we don't really have any extreme vehicles coming to compete yet, so... Second place - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/87165-sundown-russia-15639-sealed-tl-score/ - 156.7 Third Place - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/89065-8xsa12s-in-a-nissan-pathfinder/ - 152 Some of the guys also wanted to make some runs metering on music - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/91176-1573-on-music/ Here's a nice long vid from the event (check at 11:00) Some more vids: This on most of you have seen.. Many thanks to Stevw for putting this up in the featured vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMiQegZCNNA a bunch of pics are here: http://smtrussia.ru/?go=gallery&album=1288038352 and in my photobucket http://feed984.photobucket.com/albums/ae326/SundownRussia/SMTRussia_final/feed.rss rss feed...hope this works some could also be here: http://www.bassclub.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=13862 I'll try to get direct links up to at least some of them in a bit
  10. this is where the host asks about what kinda sub is in the car and Oleg responds that it's Sundown Audio, a new brand that came to the Russian market this year and has been doing very well in competitions. He also says that he is extremely satisfied with his sub choice
  11. Fellow Team Sundown Russia member - Oleg Turganov get some airtime with [PRO]Rides - a tv-show about cars and the aftermarket scene. That is his Subaru Forrester Turbo with the SA12 hiding under the Soundstream grille... he also helped out on the Mitsu groundpounder with 4 SA12's on 3k - that is still a build in progress, but already quite a show stopper as can be seen in the second part of the feature http://www.otvprim.ru/news11578.html Sundown FTW!!
  12. Sorry for the lapse in updates guys.... this system took second in it's class at the EMMA European Finals here's a short vid from our SMT Russia Finals this Saturday - www.smtrussia.ru
  13. this guy set the National record in competition in Kazakhstan this weekend - 152.6 sealed on the TL original with pics is here http://www.bassclub.ru/forum/showthread.php?p=264978#post264978
  14. yeah, srt10's can be a handfull - 500+ hp, manual, rwd in a pickup + getting stoopid on a dusty road = youtube hit
  15. I know, right? with all the stuff that's easily available in the US, the malibu is just a nice 'get-your-ass-across-town-be-reliable-get-good-milage' kinda ride.... mid-size sedan and front-wheel drive are just not made for performance. I bet the interior was made to look good in brochure photos LOL - people get a boner over the looks, walk into a dealership, go for a testdrive and before you know it, it's too late to run from the textured soft-look panels made by FisherPrice.... Still, the outside is solid - nicely proportioned and doesn't really have any angles where it looks bad Man, the older chevy trucks are where it's at too, wish I could get an older C\K, Silverado or Tahoe here in Russia that isn't all rusted out
  16. I rented a new bodystyle malibu a few days ago in Cancun ( they didn't have a suburban or the hummer available that particular day, so decided to try the malibu out)....honestly don't know what the engine was - it was an auto, had dual exhaust and some 18" rims - looked pretty nice outside imo... for what it's worth felt like 180hp or so.... the interior is tacky and cheap even with the leather, big turn off if I ever wished to buy one.... the tranny downshifts pretty fast and the engine has some guts from 2 to 4k not something I would consider for performance though.... get it with a base engine, base enterior, throw 20's or 22's on it and put a system in - cruze, don't race get a v8 fullsize pickup, cheap, reliable, easy to work on and can burn some rubber in the right hands..... Hemi powered single cab Rams are the shit
  17. we burped ours at 0.33 without any issues ....not gonna say what we did for daily
  18. first knockdown sanding making the internal flare of the port box is done and primered, test fit in the car
