1992Chevy K1500

Yeah. I'm thinking about the RF right now. I'd like to have one. Plus I like the specs on it and I know they're underrated, so I'd have some head room. I've got another week to decide, so I'm in no real hurry. Plenty of time to think. Anyone have any actual experience with an RF R500-1? EDIT: If I can find one for around 150 USD, I'll think about it. Thanks for the info.

Voltage x Amperage x Efficiency (in decimal form) = power (in watts). Ex. 14.4 volts x 250 amps x .8 (80% efficiency) = 2880 watts. OH, and I re-read, it doesn't come with a 250 amp fuse. In fact, it looks like it doesn't come with any fuse, so you could use any size you wanted inline on the power wire. I'd run a 250 since that's what's recommended.

The bold has me worried. Plus: According to the site, it has a 250 amp fuse included. It claims 8000 watts at 14.4 volts, but even at 100% efficiency at 14.4 volts at 250 amps, it would only do 3600 watts. At 80% efficiency it would do just over 2800 watts. It might do what it claims, but I highly doubt it. Plus the THD is a little high. Most good, high quality amps of similar power have closer to 1% THD from what I've read.

Anyone? Oh well. If no one has anything bad to say, that's the amp I'm getting as soon as my paycheck starts coming in again. I hate not having a paycheck.

I'm going by the specs he provided. They do sound close though. My dad has an 04 crown vic and it's got a VERY large trunk. I've yet to measure it, but it's quite big. I know that 01's have a slightly different trunk, so IDK how they could compare. And the trunk opening is probably around 40" wide, but the inside is quite a bit larger. Meaning the box would have to be built in the car. Not trying to bash you or anything, but a crown vic trunk is something most people have probably never seen. They are some of the largest trunk cars I've ever seen. I'm not saying they are the largest available, but they are large. Crown vics were at some point designed around the needs of police officers (most of whom carry a ton of equipment and then some). Ford carried the design over to the commercially available consumer cars to save money. That was the second best decision they ever made IMO (right behind the Mustang). 4 18"s! Dang. How loud was it?

Yeah. I just picked up two radio shack POS 10 dollar speakers (they ran off of 1 nine volt batt each). I used a 2 way headphone y-adapter and ran it to the speakers (they had headphone jack sized inputs). It was awesome. The best part was, after I got tired of scaring everybody, I put on some music and had a one man party!

My favorite ever was the time I put a small speaker set in my backpack and scared the hell outta everyboby with an erie, very loud shreak. LOL, need to try that again this year.

You think that's bad, trying running a jigsaw through MDF and wooden sawhorses for 4 straight hours (lotsa complex cuts involved, don't ask).

If they're on the same channel, use the resistance of the whole set. If they're on seperate channels, use the individual resistances. I think... That sounds right to me. Anyone else know?

I think 3K low pass on the mids and 2K high pass on the tweeters would work. Give you enough overlap and still sound decent for the money you'd pay.
