What is wrong? Help!
crav1n replied to crav1n's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
pretty sure everything is figured out and fixed.. I was having retarded high resistance in my leads of my dmm. I'm seeing .5 on a dead test. as far as the problem for my voltage not dropping, I have 3 batteries, 2 of them connected by bus bars (I haven't re made new ones yet for the 3 batts.) and my volt meter was running off the 2 connected batteries. Some how my connection came lose from my 2 connected to my single 3100, and my 3100 wasn't charging. The amp was protecting from low voltage. the batt is on the charger now, and the amp hasn't protected since I re did all the connections I feel like a noob for not checking that first... -

so I tested my leads of my dmm today, and I'm getting a reading of .5-.7 out of them. So if I am wired at half ohm, and my leads are adding .5-.7, does that mean it's just my multi meter? that still doesn't explain why I'm not seeing hardly any voltage drop at full tilt though? I'm gunna test my voltage later with a dmm to see if maybe something is wrong with my stinger volt meter... -

I'll try a different dmm today. And to theydontwantmusic, I never said it was rated at .5, I said it was stable at .5. meaning I've played it at that level, along with many other people, all day long idk I guess though -

that's what I was thinking, but I really don't have 700$ to drop on an amp right now one thing that makes me wonder though...if I'm wired to 1 ohm, and dropping below that obviously I don't see why it would be protecting? the amp is stable at .5 daily, and .25 for burps. How low could it be dropping for it to protect? I guess I don't know a whole lot about impedance rise/drop. -

so what can I do to avoid it? the amp protecting that is wire it at 2ohm? well then I'll have even less output -

I've had the same setup for a while now...a bunch of different boxes. Ive had it occasionally protect from being stupid on the volume and it clipping too much, but I don't think that's the case here. and I wouldn't think that it would be a charging problem if I'm not dropping low in the first place? -

a little background on my jeep: electrical - stock alt, 3 g31's in the back..2 deka 9a31's and a xs3100 3 runs of 0 gauge to the back all 8 gauge speaker wire before I rebuilt this wall from my flat wall, my subs wired perfectly to .5 and my voltage would drop no lower than 12 volts. now at IDLE I'm dropping maybe .1 - .2 volts tops and everything is wired the exact same. I don't get what is wrong. -
Okay! so! I have my 4 sundown sa-15's, on an AQ 3500d. the problem I'm having is that once I get to around a certain volume, (the max I usually listen to it at) my amp protects. Also, once it starts to protect, it seems to do it more and more. 1) the amp isn't overly hot. 2) the head unit isn't at the clipped volume 3) my voltage isn't dropping below 13 one thing I'm thinking it may be, is a bad coil? I re wired everything today to check if maybe I messed something up on accident, but it is right. It SHOULD be wired at or near .5, but it is sitting at a solid 1 ohm. (all 4 subs wired together) When I tried wiring in 2 sets of 2 subs, each set of subs were sitting around 1.7 ohms, when they should be around 1. I know a little high or a little low is normal, but .7? I could be wrong, and I probably am but I don't think there is or should be much clipping going to the amp because like I said, my voltage isn't dropping hardly anything, and my HU volume isn't turned up to high. So I don't think it's protecting because of too much clipping? IDK! help!

dont worry about what everyone else says...it's your system, buid it like you want. I wanna stick 2 q 18's in my jeep -
hey if you could shoot me an email, I have a question about maybe custom building some subs.
thanks!

I have a wiring question

I apologize..each subs is dual 2..Idk what I was thinking -

I will tomorrow. noob question, but will each coil read 4, or will each coil read 2 if it's a dual 4 ohm sub? -
