I love a new rig :D

Your heatsink shouldn't be turned like that...its sides should be parallel to their respective sides of the case. Especially with the CM V8, which is a little heavier than most. If I were you I'd check the mounts just to be safe. Other than that it's bitchin. (I dig the Velociraptor ) Oh wait...just read that you have a P55 board with both sets of mounts. Nevermind, keep it comin! -
Bump I'm really hoping somebody on here has a good motor they'd be willing to part with.

I know...the plan did change a little bit. I was originally going to buy the soft parts one at a time, but I don't trust myself with assembling them all and still having it all be centered, etc. So for this woofer at least, it looks like I'll be buying a recone assembly, basket, and motor. Then I'll do all the adhesive work and soldering, and work on an enclosure.

Well, because I'm basing this sub off a Fi recone kit, I'm kinda limited when it comes to motor choice. I have the option of an RE XXX (2003-2005 w/12 spoke basket), MT, SE or SX. I could also use an Adire Brahma or Ascendant Avalanche motor, but those are harder to come by I assume. Thanks for the offer though man, I do appreciate it. This here is what I'm going by: Fi Audio Non-Fi sub recone kits read the titles under the kits backward...the website is messed right now for some reason

Got an email from DD...basically, because I don't have a sub they can't sell me any parts or recones. It's all good though, I mean I have a chrome 12-spoke basket coming soon, and hopefully somebody will sell me an RE SE or SX motor. After that I'll be getting a Fi recone kit and an amp. " Hi Brian, We do not sell any parts by themselves. All parts are only used to build complete woofers. Good luck with you project. Thanks, Brad Firgard Tech Dept. I appreciate the offer, but I'm really looking for just a motor assembly. I already have a 12-spoke chrome basket on the way. Probably should've stated this in the title, but I'm leaning more toward an SE or SX motor...but I will look into an MT or XXX motor if those two are unavailable. **Now looking for an Fi, RE, Adire or Ascendant motor for a 12-spoke basket.** See 1st post for more info.

I'm looking to buy an RE motor for a woofer building project of mine. I need one that works with a standard 12-spoke basket, which is basically all of the models listed. If anyone has one of these motors in good shape at a reasonable price, I'd be willing to buy. **change of plans...let me know if you have any RE, Fi, Adire or Ascendant motors for sale** Preferably these... Fi: Q or SSD RE: SE, SX Adire: Brahma Ascendant: Avalanche

Oh, DD does require you to own one of their subs first? That's a shame...their composite cones are so nice looking. I did send Forevrbumpin a PM, so we'll see what happens I guess. I've seen all kinds of hybrid woofers made before, some with three different brands for their soft parts/baskets/magnets. I'm trying to do something like that, and have the real challenge be assembling it all myself.

This is my first post here, but I've been looking around for a while and there are some pretty awesome people posting here. I decided to post because I definitely need help with this project I'm doing, and I'm sure there are people here with the knowledge I need. What I want to do is create my own 12" woofer, and I will be basing it off of either a Digital Designs composite cone/surround/dustcap/spider or a Fi Q recone kit (which hopefully includes all of that). Obviously I'll be making my own basket, magnet assembly, etc. I don't know if I'll be making my own voice coil, because a) that'll be a huge challenge, with getting the impedance correct etc. and b.) the recone kits may have a voice coil already installed on the former. If anyone has knowledge or experience with assembling woofers, let me know! CHECK PAGE 2 FOR PICS...
