  1. Yeah, Ford and Shelby, just repeated what they did in the 60's, 50 years later! I love it, and rub it in the face of my buddys that drive Camaros and Vettes! Chevy really needs to step it up, but it wont happen. An aftermarket company just did exhaust and a tune on the 2013 Cobra and it put down dyno readings of 700+ & ran a 10.06 et in the 1/4 mile! The Cobra is a force to be reccond with!!!
  2. If this is referring because the great Carroll Shelby (RIP) has passed, this was his last project before he passed away! He set out to be a part of the building of the fastest V8 production car in its class (American). Which he did in a substantial manner. The new Cobra is a BEAST! Edmonds did a dyno test compairing the Cobra and new Camaro ZL1. Both cars are supercharged V8's and supposedly in the same power range, well they are not! The Cobra is making close the same power as the ZR1 Corvette. The Cobra according to Edmonds made 595hp and 609 ft lbs torque..........100% off the factory line, no mods no tune, completely stock. Where as the Camaro ZL1 didnt even break 500hp or 500tq. Now for a base price in the mid 50k range compared to the Camaro in the 60k range, I know exactly what car I would put in the garage!
  3. the panels will be wrapped in black leather like the interior..........with blue french seams at all the breaks. The center "plugs" will have black suede to match the inserts of my seats. The plug that covers the actual box will have the F logo embroidered the exact same size as the F logo that is on the box. Oh yeah that will look amazing!! I am really looking forward to it finished now. Who is doing your stitch work? Sean Kat - Kat Kustoms (Gearhead Garage). Same guy i always use. I do basic to advanced wrapping on my own but if it involves a sewing machine, i am done for. Thats why i call the best. I already called him and told him to be ready Oh yeah, he does great work! They will turn out amazing! Yeah I plan on purchasing a sewing machine when I get a house! There is good money in it, when you prove your skill! Ive been doing trim work since '05'!!!

  5. Good catching the issue before final assembly. I like the new side panels better, gives the truck some more syling. If you are wrapping the panels, I think on the seams a nice "french" stitch would bring the interior cabin upholstery into the trunk, really keeping it classy!
  6. Also if he were to get it painted a good collision shop can bring the old paint to a near like-new luster, so that he can enjoy the car for some time as one color, then save up for an even better paint job!
  7. I am in love with this build through and through! Everything is classy and elegant! Great job Steve, and really looking forward to the finished product.
  8. As an ex manager of a collision shop, I would always go beyond what the costumer wanted, to help insure that they would come back.
  9. You will prolly be right around that ($500) but if you mention the possibility of a full paint in the future, they may hook you up with a buffing!
  10. Well SMD family, welcome the newest addition to my family Raelyn Alexis 5lb 10oz 19"
  11. Yeah, trust me if I could help the process move along I would! You know, lock the door, dim the lights, lmao!!!!
  12. Shes about 5cm right now, just gave her something to help speed up the process! And yes this anxious feeling hasnt gone away!
  13. Thanks guys! The wife is comfortable, just got the "juice", shes making progress, just trying to relax!
  14. Thanks bro! We are our suite, getting checked in! We are anxious for her arrival!
  15. A good collision shop could easily blend your hood to the fenders. Trust me on this, plus if you spend a little extra, they may even buff the whole car as a package deal. Most collision shops have a UV light color matching machine, that when you press it to a buffed flat surface, it will read the different pigments in the paint a come up with a virtually identical color match in which you would spray the hood and blend the tops of the fenders. Because of the edge of the fender and the slight boxiness, you will hardly see a difference in the color if any. Ive been painting cars for years and this is actually a pretty easy blend because of the body shape!
  16. Lucky for me I have my son, so the odds are in my favor, because of the combined age, lol!

  18. Its funny though, my wife wants me to finish the race car, she loves the drag strip, lol! Thanks guys!
  19. I know I havent been active with my build on the Sable for a while, been focusing on the race car for the season, but as of tomorrow morning that will also be put on hold. Which in all actuality isnt a bad thing considering the circumstance. Tomorrow morning my wife and I will be heading to the hospital @ 7 am so that we can start inducing labor to welcome our newest member of the family and future audiophile! My daughter Raelyn Alexis will be soon gracing us with her arrival and that is all that matters! (but dont get me wrong....... I will be back building in no time)
  20. Oh, for future reference when making molds, you can use wax or wd40, but if you hsve aluminum foil, that works really well! I still layed tape and paper on the floor, but then layed down foil on top of that before applying matting and resin! My molds would always release easily without losing form and durability!
  21. As long as you also have matting in with the resin, it is strong enough to just pull the tape off. If not, then add matting, an pull the tape off. If that doesnt work, you can sand down and smoothe the backside to remove the tape!
  22. Just be careful when applying! If the lights are already tinted and cleared, sand them with 800 grit wet sandpaper (wet sand), then apply your mid coat very catefully, mid coats such as pearls and candies are prone for runs, so apply carefully! Then wait about 15-20 min and apply your clear, this should also help give you more depth in the lights and really bring out the color!
