Yes your alt can charge them and it will not hurt the batteries. If you are in doubt that they are getting fully charged just throw a charger on them. *********If anyone needs tracking info please send me an email ( [email protected] ) with the name the order was placed under and I will get you the tracking info when I have it.**********

d1400 14volt battery

As said above you need a way to regulate the voltage output of the alternator to charge the 14V batteries properly. 16.8V is the optimal charge voltage for the 14v batteries. -

Yes you could use the D1200 under the hood, but I would suggest getting the metal case for it to help keep the heat away from the battery. That combo should work fine for you. -
You are limited in the back by the width or length? In your posts above you said width, but in the last post you refer to length. If you are limited to 11.25" in length, then I would run the 3400s in the back or if you have a little more room the 6500s in the back. The D6500 is 11.8" long. Yes, if you don't mind modding your factory set up you would be ok running a D3100 up front and then two smaller ones in the back. If you don't want to worry with the modifications, then I would just run the 3400 under the hood and two in the back if you want.

D3400 under the hood in the stock location, or if you want to do some fabrication to the stock battery position you can fit a D3100 in there. The D3100 is only 6.81" wide, so it should fit in the back. I would suggest running a D3100 in the back, because as almost everyone does you will upgrade to more power down the road. The D3100 will give you room to grow.

D2700 resting voltage ?

12.3 is low if that was the resting voltage. If you were playing music with the car off that would drop the voltage down. I would recommend fully charging the battery (should be 14.4V) and then letting the battery sit for 12-24 hours and checking the voltage again. If the battery in sitting in cold weather the voltage will drop lower than normal. -

If you charge them up fully before the shipment, then you should be fine. One thing to think about is weather changes (cold to warm to cold) and cold temps will drain the batteries faster. -
It is a 12V 15amp high frequency charger. It is an automatic charger that will go into float mode just like the 1005. The price with the discount is $169.15. The D3400 would fit under the hood. If you are still running side terminals then you would need an iBar kit. Are you running on stock alt and wiring or have you upgraded? Is it for daily use or competition/demo use? The Sundown amps are very power hungry, so 2 D3100 for each 4500 is a good start for sure. Email returned. UPS will take care of it for you after you give them a call. When they throw a 79lb battery around or drop it off the back of a truck there is not a lot we can do. Everything will be taken care of though. Sorry they damaged your battery, but we will have a replacement to you shortly after you get us the tracking info. I sent you an email too Nathan regarding UPS destroying the box and damaging the battery, after they delivered it to the wrong house I heard them throw it back in the truck, not the best thing to do with a huge battery. That's what my packaging looked like, that's after I cleaned out all the Styrofoam that had turned to dust basically. I don't like UPS Tis the season for UPS to damage what they can. If you haven't already filed a claim with UPS, then I would go ahead and give them a call. Since, they delivered it UPS will not allow us to file the claim. Just give them a call with your tracking # and tell them everything you saw and what the driver did. They will schedule someone to come out and look at it, and then give you a shipping label with tracking number and schedule you a pick up. Once they pick it up just give me a call or shoot me an email with the tracking # they gave you. We will get you set up. Sorry for the problems. If UPS decides they want to drop it out of the back of the truck there is really no packing that would save it...........lol That vehicle uses a Group 24F, which is the same size as the D2400, but the terminals are reversed. With the reversed terminals you could extend your cables or if you have some slack in the OEM cables it may work anyway. If you are going to upgrade all of your wiring then this would be an easy mix, because the new cables you run would work with the new battery. Which optima do you have in there now? The red top 34/78? If you want to stay with that size battery then the D3400 would be the choice, but the terminals are also reversed on it. The D3400 should work for you and if you are running side posts you would want to get an iBar kit to give you the side posts. Must have been a misunderstanding on the phone call. Sorry about that. Orders have to be in by the 27th of Dec.

What ever power you are pulling that your alts can not provide does come from the batteries. The alts are only going to be able to provide the max power at a higher RPM rate than idle, so that is why most will increase the RPMs to play the system. Once you have exceeded the alt's possible power, then you are pulling from the batts and the voltage will start to drop. The size of the battery bank will then determine what your voltage will stay at. For example if you are pulling 200amps in access of your alt output and you have a bank of 5 D3100s, then you will be able to hold your voltage higher because of reserve you have in the batteries. The reserve capacity is not the only thing to look at though. If the batteries can not supply the power needed as soon as it is needed then the capacity really doesn't matter. For example if a house is on fire and the fire truck gets there and they pull out the hose to start fighting the fire. Lets say it takes (making up a # here cause I have no clue) 10,000 gallons to put the fire out. If they only have a 1/2" diameter hose it really isn't going to matter how much water they have, because they will be limited on how much water they can get on the house and how quickly they can get it to the house. Now if they have a 4" diameter hose" they will be able to supply the water in greater quantities faster. This is where the design of the battery is so important. The battery can have a huge reserve, but if the design on the battery is for low amp outputs for long periods of time it is going to decrease the performance of the system. If the battery has a large reserve and can produce the power on demand, then the performance of the system will benefit. One other thing to think about is that on a dynamic track the power you are pulling will increase and decrease, but on a bass track it will be a continuous pull.
