  1. The HC2400 is the same size as our D3100, but doesn't compare as far as power goes. Are you running a HO alternator or just the factory alternator? What battery are you running under the hood? You could use 2-3 D1200/D5100s or a couple D3400/D2400/D6500/D2700/D3100s and be fine.
  2. That is probably the variance in your alternator output. When it cold it will charge at higher voltages, and then after 30mins to an hour of drive time it drops back down. You could set the VCM to 13.6 or so tonight and then check it again in the morning at start up and see if it does the same thing. This is pretty normal with the alternators we tested.
  3. Give us a call tomorrow and we will figure out whats going on with the VCM.
  4. You are adjusting the VCM, but you have not caught the voltage on the controller up to the voltage on the VCM. Keep hitting the + button and the voltage will catch up and start reading. This will only happen until you program it the first time. Oh and if you have problems you will get a faster response most of the time by calling us. We are in the office 8:30-5:30(est) M-F.
  5. The Ford applications have been delayed. We hope to release them around summer 2010.
  6. I do not recommend mixing batteries of different chemistry. Optima batteries are not designed for car audio, and do not provide the instantaneous power that car audio needs. For instance the Optima Red top 34/78 series battery is the same dimensions as our 3400, but is about the same power as the much smaller 975.
  7. We have a 250amp that will be a direct bolt up and put out about 160amp at idle. It is $499 plus shipping. The D1200 is $180 plus shipping. Those two together would improve your audio performance big time.
  8. First thing I would do is get that yellow top out of there and replace it with a good battery, but I need your year/make/model to tell you which one will work best.
  9. If it is the 4 wire oval then it would be the XSP310-313 combo kit for 1 alternator applications. $129 plus shipping. You can just give me a call to order by CC or send me a email ( [email protected] ) to get paypal info.
  10. Change out that yellow top for a 3400 and you would be amazed what your voltage does.
  11. NO 4 walmart batteries does not match the performance of a D3100!! Flooded batteries do not operate efficiently in car audio applications. This is like comparing 1980 technology with 2010 technology. Kind of like the Zack Morris cell phone to a IPhone. If WalMart batteries worked so well there would probably be world record holders sponsored by walmart. I am just using this for an example. All applications and set ups can be different depending on the equipment being used and the set up. If you have a 5000 watt system with a 250amp alternator (that actually puts out 250amps or more) and one D3100. You are going to have the amperage pull from the vehicle + the amperage pull from the system.......... approx 550amps total. The alternator will provide 250amps, so the batteries must supply about 300amps of power. If you are using the D3100 as your starting battery you will still have enough power to supply the other 300amps of power. Your voltage would drop, but you would still have power. This is playing your system at full tilt. If you are not at full tilt then you would not be pulling that much power.
  12. A Deka group 31 battery is better than what? Even the Optima is a better option than the Deka group 31. Not putting anyone down, but there is no way that a Deka group 31 is the best option as far as power goes.
  13. No one else makes an adjustable voltage module except for us. $129 for the harness and the control module.
  14. Yes you would get 4 X the walmart performance.
  15. I understand! Going by what you have posted I would almost be willing to bet you are getting nothing at idle, but I could be wrong. What type alt do you have?
  16. Yes, if you have 4 batteries then you have 4 times the power to supply to the system. For easy math and a explanation lets say your system was pulling 100 amps from 1 D3100. If you had 4 D3100s it would still pull 100amps, but that 100amps would be divided between the 4 D3100s. CA has nothing to do with car audio. The 2400 is designed for instantaneous power and will work great as a starting battery or a secondary battery. Thats why the 2400 has a higher MaxAmps rating. I wouldn't call that over kill at all. I myself would have at least that for a 3k system. Depending on the amp you can have a lot more of an amperage pull than you think.
  17. Have you checked to see what your alternator is putting out at idle? If not we can check it for you if you want to send it in. I would guess you are getting close to nothing at idle and it is pulling straight from the batteries, but that is just a guess. Does the voltage drop like that if you are driving or have the RPMs up?
  18. Faster than what? If you are pulling about 500amps (5000watt system) and only able to produce 200amps from the alternator (approx 50amps going to run the car) you are going to start pulling your battery voltage down.
  19. The recommendations are based on 1 or 2 battery setups within the range of 0 – 5,000W. If you are outside of this, you probably know enough to choose the right amount of battery power for your system. Again, you cannot use Ah capacity to choose the right amount of battery power for a car stereo system… capacity is only important if you are comparing to similar technology batteries. Nobody else has our technology… Stinger is the only one that even comes close… For example… If you are buying 110Ah batteries from WalMart, you will need at least 4 of that type/design battery to supply a 4-5kw amplifier. If you are using XS Power batteries, you will only need one 110Ah D3100 to do the same job. Instantaneous output of 1 D3100 to a 5,000W amp will be equal to 4 deep cycle flooded style batteries. This is to be used as a guide to help you figure out what you need.
  20. Here is a link to a larger version Wattage Guide
  21. How many watts are you pushing through the amps? What alternator are you using? When you are at full tilt and the voltage drops are you at idle? Between the 3400 as a starting battery and the 2700 as a secondary battery you have about 7000 watts of power.
  22. We are currently working on a HO alt set up for the Titan now, but a dual set up looks like it will be tricky. Were are you wanting to put the batteries? I know space is a premium in the Titan. How many total watts do you think you are going to be running?
  23. Ford applications have been delayed. We hope to have them ready around Summer 2010.
