  1. Ok the car is a 1988 Regal. My box takes up the entire trunk therefore, back of seats is a no go and they don't fold down so definatley a no go. The wheel well is out because I need my spare bcuz I have a bad tire and I live in the country so if I get a flat it's me and the road. I also think that they amps would look good on the underside of the trunk lid. Do you think it would harm the audio at all?
  2. Ok so I've come to a realization. After I get my new box in (hopefully friday) im not going to have anywhere to put my amps. So i was thinking i could bolt them to the trunk lid. Does anyone see a problem with that? I cant think of any effect it would have but i just want to double check. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
  3. My box at this second is just a bought at store sealed bow but by next friday im going to have my bandpass box made its tuned at 36 im doing it for a school project. It is going to be pretty nice and im going to post a build log once im done with it. Wiring is just a scochse 8 ga kit from the front battery to the back my second battery isnt installed yet but after i get my bandpass in im going to do big 3 0 gauge and run 0 gauge to the back. Might have to wait on the damplifier pro *pulls pockets out to show lack of moolah*
  4. One of them has three off-brand 10's and a Kenwood Excelon HU in a little sonoma Another has two 12 infinity's not sure the model, or brand of amp Neither of them are amazing and i love my system to death but i want more spl. My car is not damplified at all and still has the best SQ around where i live.
  5. One of them has three off-brand 10's and a Kenwood Excelon HU in a little sonoma Another has two 12 infinity's not sure the model, or brand of amp Neither of them are special and i love my system to death but i want more spl. My car is not damplified at all and still has the best SQ around. Idk i am actually probably goignt o get 2 15's maybe some DC Lvl5 or lvl4xl or Fi BTL or AA Z series idk yet but I love alpine myself
  6. Ok im tired of my friends ragging on my Alpine car audio system what i have is in my signature and i want to know what you guys think. So please hit the poll. Please and Thank You
  7. You dont ever have to get them ya you can go without them its fine to not have any aftermarket speakers
  8. Ya if your looking at getting a 15 or two youll prolly need new speakers to match imo. Crutchfield.com and the outfit thing will tel you what can go in the factory speaker locations
  9. He is referring to the wires that are run for your speakers power for you amp...etc. Wire is measured in gauges for example 0 gauge is about .5 inches thick and the higher the number of gauge the smaller the wire is...example 12 gauge is a hell of a lot smaller the 0 gauge. A good website that I have always gone to is www.crutchfield.com there is an option under the car audio section called outfit my car. It will tell you exactly how certain radios will fit in the dash and other stuff like that. In most cases they wil include a perfect trim piece and other useful installation accessories. By no means am I saying buy everything from them but it is a good baseline to judge other options off of.
  10. Hey I am kinda new in the sense that i have not been exposed to a lot of brands but I do know about a box or too. One thing that i have failed to consider when building a box is not if it it will fit in your trunk but if you can get it into your trunk, in my experience the best thing to do is make a cardboard prototype and try to get it into your car first then go from there. As far as subs and amps are concerned the Alpine Type-R 15" subs are pretty nice and Alpine makes the MRP-M2000 amp to match. Just my suggestions and thoughts.
  11. Where can you buy the DC subs? I am looking to expanded in the spring also just want to shop around for some 15's i want more spl but i think im going to make the move out of the trunk into the backseat...anyway ya DC subs where can i find them?
  12. If you look at the terminals on your battery you'll see several wires coming out of them...one of them will work its way down to the block of the engine and that is the battery to engine block wire...side note you can get bulk wire on eBay for sure and im sure you could get it locally. The learn enough and then talk your parents ear off approach works and i got mine to fund my custom designed box im working on...which will be in the builds section eventually...btw im 17 also but i drive an 88 buick with 41k miles.
  13. Oh no I'm talking about adding it to my system so have two batteries. One under the hood and one in the trunk.
  14. Hey Meade. Starting off i am expanding my system slowly...a year ago started off with my two terlves in the trunk which was working good but then i wanted more...i came up with a crazy design for a sub bow that i am currently build and I know that around tax time im going to be getting two shallow twelves for under the back seat. I asked my g-parents to hook me up with another battery that had more power...the problem is the new one doesnt fit under the hood. I am wanting to tiw the battery under the hood to the new one that will be going into the trunk. I have looked and looked for the proper way to set stuff up and am at a loss. I would like to be able to just run my power wires off of the battery in the trunk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
