  1. http://m1091.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/thaiboxing101/photobucket-38535-1339303687264.png.html?o=0&newest=1 One of my best buddies. New project coming together slowly. These go under the massive center channel and 10' tall line array mains. He's known for going overboard, but the moment someone says he'll never use what he has to its potential.....they find out he aint skeered! Cool if ya dig it.
  2. You should contact EV and request the T/S parameters. Make sure you have the very driver model #, not just the cabinet item #. If they can give you the specs and you have a qualified acoustic engineer design you a cabinet for your specific application, it would be almost guaranteed to outperform the 99dB/1w-1m subwoofer you refered to (in your current cabinet.....for your goal. There is likely to be A frequency at which the substitute driver might be more sensitive....but not over the entire intended bandwidth of the enclosure.
  3. Btw, thank you guys for the compliments on woodwork. It comes from childhood, with an older brother that would cut down anything I did.......so naturally, I became a perfectionist and self loather. It's awesome, you ought to try it sometime.
  4. There is really no way to convey how they sound through a YouTube video. Is your computer audio system an audiophile grade setup? Imaging is half of the experience and YouTube could never offer that to you, even if your system was audiophile grade.
  5. These have never been in a video. Hexibase's TLs are totally different from these, though they use the same Fostex drivers. Two totally different goals. They are PWK's design though, of course.
  6. The other set of tower speakers are my personal T166RLH's, using a set of Fostex FE166En full-range drivers, covering 35Hz - 20kHz. I had some other prospective clients over to let them hear the two systems in an A/B configuration. The sampling environment was not like either of the two dedicated environments for which they were designed, but it made them deposit trouser fecal matter, none the less. Hope you like. If so, check out SuperSteve.me once in a while.
  7. Here is a set of T103TTL 2ch stereo towers designed specifically for this customer's listening room, using but a pair of Fostex FE103En full-range drivers to cover 40Hz - 20kHz. They are driven by a Topping TP-21, class T amplifier. Built this pair of towers for a veteran massage and reflexology therapist. She has listened to the same few tracks on the same CDs for over 20 years now. She knows those songs very well. After her first 20 seconds, she couldn't stop talking about the things she never heard in those songs before. She and her husband started looking through their CD collection and online for songs they wanted to hear again for the first time. They were amazed at how camouflaged the music was before with their previous sound system. Something they'd never done before is now common place around their home; they invite friends and family over to listen to music. BYOM parties. Another happy customer.
  8. CS and CXS are both hencho en Chine. The A series were (are still?) Final-assembled in Germany.
  9. Too large of an alternator is not a problem in and of itself. Know what rpm the alternator makes its rated power at and what rpm it will be spinning at when your vehicle is idling. This is how scammer ebay alternator companies sell cheap 240a alternators and the average user ends up getting 40 amps out of it at idle. For amplifier output testing, you can use the following URL, it describes with pictures how to do everything pretty well. http://www.ddaudio.com/caraudio/enclosureInfo/calculateAmpPowerAndImpedance.htm. To regulate your output voltage from the alternator, you'll need an adjustable regulator. Ask your preferred alternator company salesman about that option and he'll go over your options. He'll also be able to help you with what batteries you'll need to match the charging system.
