is your amp just for show? if not, and you plan on cranking it..your going to need dual alternators..
  3. ok, i kind of figured that, because otherwise it wouldnt make any sense.
  4. One more question though.. The port should be 12-16 sq inches per cubic feet.. Is this before port and all the displacements? but say the box is 7 cubes.. that means anywhere from 84-112 sq inches of port. Well lets say 112. is this 112 just the height and width of the port? Do you not add in the length of the port?
  5. stickied posts are generally not false information LOL
  6. Reason i shoot things down is because i want to know the correct way to do things and i always thought there was a different way to.do it..there is a lot of false info on these forums sometimes. But ill take your guys word for it. And just because i dont have experiance in tuning a box doesnt mean i cant spend 10 grand on my system?
  7. Ive messed around torres calc before.. i just always remember people saying they did something else for ports.. i mean each subwoofer has its own values with different paremeters.. im pretty sure theres more then just typing in the dimensions on a box calculator.
  8. i never said torres wasnt good, i just remember reading other peoples posts about bulding boxes, and the box "experts" were saying there is more to tuning then just filling in the numbers.. torres calc isnt made for port tuning?
  9. why would you put a 18 in 5 cubes before displacement? it was just an example.. i think with our max dimensions it will be aboout 7-7.5 cubes..
  10. also what you just said.. generic rule of thumb is having between 13-17 sq inch of port per cube... i dont understand this.. because if the box is 5 cubic feet, that means you should use lets say we go with 16 sq inch per cubic foot. that would be 80 square inches of port.. well 80 square inches isnt very big at all???
  11. i dont think the torres box calc is very accurate on port tuning... theres more to it then just that..
  12. fuckin picture off of photobucket arent working right LOL what the hell..
  13. this is just the amp rack... http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u131/wesiscool911/2011-08-20_00-20-57_829.jpg
  14. Heres the sketchup.. i just need it tuned correctly.
  15. My friend should be getting his BTL N2 18 in the mail pretty soon, and i want to build the box for him, the thing is I'm a NOOB at box tuning.. I want to learn how to do it, but i havent had anyone to help me or show me the steps.. i know its basic algebra and equations to tune the ports and playing around with parameters, but i dont know the exact way to do it. ANYWAYS could someone help me out or design a box for me. I want someone that KNOWS what they are doing.. Its for a 2002 chevy blazer.. hes powering the sub with an AQ 3500.1 and the max dimensions are 36" wide, 20" tall, and 23" deep. He wants it to be at 32hz daily driving.. i did a quick sketchup on how he wants it. Thanks guys.
  16. just buy a used cluster and throw it in. i would check all your wires that go to whatever is malfunctioning lol.
  17. $80 an hour flying? what will you be flying?
  18. well its good that your doing your homework. Sounds like a decent little setup. dont cheap out on a amp. get something that will do rated RMS and you will be happy.
  19. birch ftw nuff said. its stronger, lighter, and doesnt cost a whole lot more. why not use birch??
  20. if you like low notes, then just tune it low, i dont think 45hz will give you any kind of brutal low bass LOL
