Dc lvl 4 18's enclosure size
Mr. Yuk replied to dkahns51's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
general rule is 12-16 per cube regardless of sub size. but my aq 18 loved 16.5 and im hoping my dc XLm2 does as well since im using the same box. -
aq1200d? a little more than you are looking for but the price cant be beat

i would keep the box you have now, the new design is too big IMO. that HDC3 will love the AQ2200D. espically since you have the new design with the new suspension it looks like. i did get the new basket i wasnt aware they changed anything else is this sub more power hungry? because honestly i feel as if its just laughing at the aq1200 i have played it for an hour solid just slammin it in 95 degree weather and it doesnt even get warm.

alright guys back from the dead. been about a month now and ive deadened everything. broke a few things inside and had to fix them now im starting to think my port may be too small for this sub. ive designed a new box with the torres calc. its 8.41 cu ft tuned to 38 hz and 16.35 inches of port area per cube. heres how it should look. does this seem like it would be louder?

alright guys its in and playing! now in my wiring kit i got about 3-4 ft extra of power wire more than i need i just wanted to hook up and go since it was dark but im thinking i may be losing current/power due to the power wire being longer than necessary. the sub seems to hit hard and get low but i really think its hungry for more power i played it pretty good for bout an hour and a half straight and neither sub nor amp got even remotely warm on an 80 degree day. i set gains with decafs 50 hz 0db test tone and backed off when i saw clipping on the knob. was this an accurate way to do it? just seems like i could get more out of this setup i mean its loud but i hear no distortion even if the clip light lights up.

so i finally got my promotion at work and im not having to live paycheck to paycheck and my girlfriend got a job too so life is good and im finally going to finish what i started. Built a box last summer to run an fi bl but since they are having such long build times i opted for an aq hdc3 18 on an aq1200d for now. all the stuff should be here wednesday. also installing a kenwood excelon kdc-x395 and lots of knukonceptz wire! super stoked to get rolling on this considering its my first big build and first time having money to have all new stuff. heres a pic of the box right after i built it right around 7 cubes and 32hz tuning

I ended up going with the aq1200d and bought 4 guage fleks kit from knukonceptz. everything should be here friday at the latest I cant wait.

the wiring kit was cadence 4 guage kit. speaker wire was kinda small but i figured a lot of people liked them so it might be good. thank you for the response though i have heard great things about the aq mostly that it does rated+ and never gets warm. basically just didnt wanna sell myself short and not buy a 1500 watt amp for less if the mb was a good one.

just got a fatty check from work kind of looking to order today any input would be great. I basically dont want to pass up a great deal if the onyx is a good amp. if its not i have no problem forking out the cash for the aq as it seems to be a fairly good amp.

Hey guys semi new to the forum been around for a long time just dont post too much.. anyways im finally able to start my system and was planning on an aq1200d and hdc3 18 with copper coil. Somewhere i saw the mb quart 1500.1 suggested instead of an aq1200d and it also happens to be about 30 bucks cheaper including a wiring kit.. just wondering of the build quality with this new mb quart stuff or if i should just avoid at all costs and stick with the aq1200. thanks for any help Ive searched but it always ends up being mixed results and nobody seems to have solid play time with either amp still they claim to know which is better.
