  1. Engine noise as in from the engine itself or electrical noise through your speakers? I'd say check your motor mounts, as mine used to vibrate quite bad with one broken, just replaced it today, and theres a world of difference.
  2. Will do once i find some more double sided tape. Easy on bigger sized speedskates, not so easy on smaller size & blades. Really, all you need is some 9v connectors, some solder or electrical tape, & double sided tape. Mount the strip to your plate.
  3. If they do, definitely not the ones here. The ones here have everything you don't need or want.
  4. I got to Waffle House at about 11:30. Not even a single car on the road the whole way there. I got there, a couple regulars were there drinking coffee & checking the highlights on their phones to keep up with the game. As soon as the game ended, the roads filled up, the restaurant filled up, and all hell broke loose on Facebook.
  5. Definitely not going on here. The only one that I can think of that would come close would be Norton Branch, they're a little 2-engine FD that also works with a nearby county. We have mutual aid agreements with them, but they're rarely out and about at all. Our department does a lot more, mutual aid (as seen) EMS assist, and we've also done a couple of LZ's for accidents, as well as one car in water this year, a week before I joined.
  6. Definitely. There's not many around here, seeing as it's mostly rural, aside from the bigger "cities".
  7. I do. I'm young, but old fashioned. Great way to exercise
  8. That's how my friend was going to do, hes a combat medic in the Army and works for MTS Ambulance services, and was going to be on the local VFD, 'till other plans got in the way...he was going to be on the same VFD that was in command of the trailer fire.
  9. Too bad these are LED's not neon's, so the ricefags can keep them. I'll have to look there. 10 pack of 9.5" LED strips from a guy on eBay was $25 shipped, so I want to keep it cheap, as these are gonna be kids using them on their skates...And the rink manager encouraged me to try it out. P.S. I'm so fly, even my skates are pimped out. Just need some of those wheels with spinning rims on them.... P.S.S. No I'm not really that fat, those pants are baggy as hell, but that's how I roll...
  10. Tell me about it. I asked my chief & he said let it go, if the neighbors are bothered they'll call 911. I just joined on the 8th, so another 5 months. Everyone seems to like me though, they know I won't fuck up & I'm willing to help. It will be a while, but the chief thinks I'll definitely make it. One of the higher up members is wanting to start an EMT class, so I may also go for the EMT certification. EMT's are usually able to respond in POV's straight to the scene if they have their bunker gear with them.
  11. I put a set of 9" 12v LED strips on my rollerskates tonight, hooked up to a 9v battery, and everyone at the rink keeps asking me about it and wanting me to get some for them & put them on. Anyone know of a cheap eBay dealer that sells LED strips in different colors (or RGB LED's even), preferably some that can be cut to size? Thanks.
  12. A lot of departments have explorer programs that introduce high school kids to firefighting. Basically, they are the "go-fers" at a fire. Help carry equipment and such. They don't get to go into a working fire (structure fires anyway), but sometimes get to participate in the salvage and overhaul. Nail on the head. Under 18 is what considered a "Junior" firefighter, as mentioned they can't go into working buildings, but they are basically gophers. Ouch, sorry to hear that. Had a call like that the other night actually, was enroute for a possible structure fire, they needed a RIT team on another dept. Was a false alarm, someone burnt some bread and never bothered to call the alarm company or 911 and say what it was... Do it. Find a couple friends that are on one in your district, and get them to vouch for you. I've had a blast at mine. Thanks. Good luck with you! Pretty much. It's 6 months here, just a "get to know each other" kind of deal, where you learn the basics, and the people, and you get voted on or off at the end by the entire department. Majority vote. Things are looking up so far. As a side note, I went by that house today on my way to H-town from my dad's, and there were 4 or 5 people outside (2 of them being kids) burning piles of wood on the old remains like it was a campfire. No idea if the primary department had given them permission or what, but I actually felt like shit. They expect us to do all that work, and they go and finish burning it down. Thank god it was a cold day, or we would be out in brush trucks again.
  13. With training, 18 to drive the unit trucks (the F350 & the Explorer), 21 to drive the big trucks (Engine 1, Engine 2, & both tankers, but I think the tankers are standard anyways, so I'll pass. I was excited, nervous, and worried all at the same time, but I think I did hear someone say the trailer may have been vacant. Can't guarantee that, there was a crispy fridge sitting outside. We tried our best with what limited personnel we had. Thanks. The trailer was a loss, but we tried our best.
  14. Dunno how many people on here are FF's, but I joined two weeks ago, and went on my first call today. There was a brush fire out near a trailer earlier today that neighboring districts were called to & got knocked down, but not enough. About two hours later, another call came out saying the trailer itself was on fire. The responding department's members weren't showing up for some reason (was about 3:30PM), so the next district over was called for mutual aid. That wasn't enough, they needed a tanker, so they dispatched us for a tanker...just as I'm about to get in the shower. Needless to say, I busted ass down there, got there, and there was one vehicle out front, with two of my friends in the station. Got our gear on and waited, because I'm 18, they are 19 and 15, therefore we didn't have someone to drive the tanker. Waited some more, dropped tones again. Still waited. Cheif called the station and we told him the situation, he said to just run a unit truck up there and help as personnel. About to leave, and two more guys show up, 18 and 17, so still no tanker, but the primary department got someone to run one of their tankers, so they just used us as personnel. I rode shotgun & ran the radio, lighting & siren. Got up there, and the ones over 18 were sent to relieve the four guys on the hoses. The fire was mostly out, just putting out hotspots was left. Took about half an hour to make sure nothing else ignited, all was well, grabbed a bottle of water, and we were released to go back to the station. So all in all, for my first call, it went okay. I'm only a probationary firefighter, as I just joined two weeks ago, so I have close to no training, just the basics of putting gear on, using an O2 tank, and running the hoses. Chief gave me props for how professional I was on the radio, as he was unable to come because of his family, but he had his pager on him, so I guess that's good. So yeah, figured I'd share that, because I feel proud of myself for not screwing up.
  15. 1. This kid didn't sound like a 5 year old when he asked. 2. He used proper grammar 3. Noone had a chance to rip him a new one before the big man replied. EDIT: DAMNIT WHERE'S NINJA MAN?

  17. Jeremy can find the ultimate budget cutting techniques. For the YT Embed impaired: Parents, use this topic as an example of why your kids should stay in school & not watch Top Gear at 4 AM.
  18. Either/Or. The Sub Volume on the EQ works more as a secondary gain, I believe, as the EQ is also a 7v preamplifier IIRC. I liked controlling the volume with my EQ than the bass knob anyways. This is also if your bass knob is a volume control and not a bass boost knob.
  19. Gotta ask, how are your Crown's holding up? I'm thinking on getting a couple 2000's & 4000's or a single 6000 for my DJ system. I've heard plenty of good things about them, just figured I'd ask a real basshead.
  20. Holy post bump! o.o Although I've never seen it before, that's by far one of the cleanest and nicest non-rice builds I've ever seen. I got a bit confused there towards the end (after spending an hour reading through), but where's the Nav at now? Please tell me she's still alive...That thing is gorgeous.
  21. Just outta curiosity, have you checked your power wire fuse? Mine was doing that the other day, turned out the Scosche fuse holders don't like anything more than 50 amps. Fuse was crisp, and it was the right size (100A). Switched it over (finally) to my ANL holder, and worked like a charm.
  22. It's not all about #'s. Otherwise, there would be a big plaque sitting in the middle next to a V8 table and banners of a man in a white suit everywhere. I can easily say my two 12's are the loudest I've heard, no numbers, but that's just me. Everyone has a different perception of "loud" but begging for #'s isnt easy because most people can't afford to spend the extra cash on a TL. I know I don't. It's plenty loud for me, for the time being, and it's better than 95% of the county has. I can care less if it hits 60db's or 160db's, I like how it sounds, and that's all that matters. POTATO! /rant
  23. Figured I'd share this little tidbit of info. I had a 4-set of Kustom KPC12M 12" Monitors with horn. Two of them came with a Phonic Max 1000 power amplifier, which does 200 watts at 8 ohms, and 300 watts at 4 ohms. I bought two more monitors after that so I made sure I had enough speakers if I did a band gig. One happened at school, and while they were practicing (had 2 hooked up to a channel), the tweeters in all four fried instantly. They sat around for about 4-6 months, then my friend called me saying he was looking for a nice set of speakers to use in-house at his bar. I listened to them, forgot about the tweeters and thought fast. A quick search brought up the Eminence ASD-10001 HF driver, for only $26 from Parts-Express. When they got here, I opened them up and were surprised, they were basically the exact same driver as my Peavey RX14's in my PR15's. Took one of the monitors apart, took out the tweeter, and lo-behold, it was a cheap plastic piezo tweeter that just happened to screw in. Now I know why they went. Dropped the new ones in all four and tested them out, and my dad could even tell a difference in the sound (he heard them with the stocks before they went). Took them to the bar and hooked them up, there was a short time of about an hour that noone was there, so we cranked the amp up until it was barely clipping, no EQ, limiter only. 300 watts to a pair, and it hurt to stand 15 feet away. There was plenty of punchy bass, and I had to eventually turn it down because it was hard to hear. Musician's Friend now has those speakers for $69.99 apiece on their site (shipping excluded), and the tweeters were along the lines of $26 with free shipping from Parts Express. I'm no real professional, but for about $100 per speaker, they sounded better than the Peavey's I've heard, even some JBL's at a dance I attended about a year ago. Anyways, long story short, for small bands looking to get going but don't want to pay a lot, Kustom speakers are great, but with Eminence tweeters, sound amazing. $100 for a 12" main or monitor, and $125 for a 15" main/monitor that will blow your mind isn't bad. If anyone wants to go this path and would like instructions on how to take the cabinet apart, I will be glad to help. Also, I will post pictures up soon (possibly tomorrow) showing the disassembly and replacement, with comparison pictures. Feel free to comment as you wish. P.S. Just realized this may fit better in the non-car audio reviews section, so mods, if it fits there better than Pro Audio, feel free to move it.
  24. Hifonics. Nuff said. In seriousness, check out that thread. Still gotta do a few things from there to my Cadence to see if it will live.
