  1. Got a new camera for Christmas? Show off your test shots. Sony Handycam DCR-SR68 video camera, if you haven't seen it, my free-air test of Dope by Psyph Morrison for SMD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzOy3dFemhk Kodak Easyshare M580: Great quality, only has mute problems with bass videos for some reason, trying to remedy it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tiU9bMxlEg Share yours!
  2. Damn. Doesn't say where you live. You built the 186's? Or just horns in general? Tell me about it. Lol
  3. This build will be over a long period of time. I'm selling parts of my DJ system that I don't use (one of my friend's is 99% sure he will buy what I don't use) and I'm going to use the money to build a bigger system, because I'm out of school now, I'll be doing a lot more gigs such as homecoming, dances, bands, parties, etc. Right now, here's what I'm going with sound wise: Alesis iMultiMix 9R Numark Dual CD/Media Player Furman Power Conditioner (x3) DBX 231 Dual 31-Band Equalizer (x3, 1 main, 1 mid/high stereo, 1 subwoofer) BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer DBX 223XL 2-Way Stereo Crossover Behringer MDX4600 4 Channel Compressor/Limiter (2 channels Stereo Mid/High output, 2 channels Subwoofer output) QSC GX5 Amplifier (700 watts @ 4 ohms/ch, Mid/Highs) Behringer EP2500 Amplifier (2x, one already here) (2400w @ 4 ohms bridge mono, 2x Subs) Peavey PR15 Loudspeakers (2x, Already here) Yamaha S12e Loudspeakers (2x, Already here) Peavey Low Rider 18" Loudspeaker (4x, Custom built 186 horn enclosure) Some pictures I drew up rough in Sketchup of how it will possibly look Enclosures are 3.14ft tall, 2.09ft wide, 2.46ft deep, so a LOT of wood will go into this. Sketchup x-ray model of the subs based on Speakerplans.com diagrams This will more than likely come after I'm done with my car. Stay tuned.
  4. ^^ This. I've heard a lot of good, some bad, but for $99 for a pair, you can't beat it. If you're looking for SQ and find something that provides that + a higher SPL, then go with that. For loudness & clarity, I'd say go with two sets of the Crescendo's.
  5. Need a LOT more port area per cubic foot. You should be aiming at 12-16 sq in per cube. Also make sure you take into account how many "common walls" your port will have i.e. walls shared by the exterior of the enclosure & the port. If you are doing one at the bottom of the box facing back, one common port wall. Not a whole big problem, but it helps. If I were you, I'd go with something like a 12w x 8h port or something along those lines. Just make sure there's enough clearance between the port wall & the sub.
  6. Why don't you just man up, do a virus scan, and get the fuck on with your life? That's what mankind has done for the past 30 years, join the club. If you don't want the government watching you watch porn, then don't watch it. Simple as that.
  7. A good car for $1k? If you do, you're gonna get lucky. Is there no reason you can't just find a transmission out of the same version of your car at a shop somewhere?
  8. Never heard of them, but a Google search for their site gives me nothing on their site. How much power are you going to be putting in them? What vehicle do you have?
  9. No, I know I don't. I have half a brain and know how to set up a sound system right. Didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a useless deck when I can make one for at minimum $200 if I wanted.
  10. I'm wanting to replace the stock halogen bulbs for my car with some HID's (and eventually projector housings). I have a 2001 Grand Prix with the 9007 dual-beam lights (same bulb does high/low beam). I've seen about three different types from VVME.com's site: Single beam, Halo Hi/HID Low, and Bi-Xenon. Which would be better suited if money is an issue? Also, what's the difference in running 35w & 55w bulbs? I'll probably be going with either 6k or 8k bulbs, just don't know if it's worth doing the bi-xenon conversion as I'll have the stock housings for a while.
  11. just a curiosity.... the mark on the cone directly across from the "L7" logo..... is it just a mark or is the cone split? good price on this sub 'tho..... It's just a mark. There's no breaks in the cone. It's a good price, it works, but it will make bass. Thanks.
  12. I have a Kicker L7 15" square subwoofer, model # 04S15L7, dual 2 ohm subwoofer. Traded a few speakers I didn't use for this, both coils work great, put out decent bass in the (very small) box it was in, only issue is it likes to rattle. Other than the rattling, the speaker sounds fine. I've tested both coils independently and the speaker sounds fine, so both coils work fine. Kicker is offering a trade in program; send the sub to them and for $300 they send you a brand new L7 with a 1 year warranty. Great speaker, but have no use for it. $125 + shipping from either 41102 or 41129, which ever is cheaper. I won't take trades aside from a new 9007 HID kit.
  13. Been thinking about getting some nice, decent rims for my Grand Prix. Tire-wise, not looking for anything really slim or fancy, big or small, just something that looks nice. I've been trying to debate between chrome and black rims, but can't find anywhere to find some good rims. Where would you guys recommend looking, and what do you think would look good with a silver stock Grand Prix GT? Just any possible suggestions, I'd appreciate. Thanks P.S. picture of the car when I got it
  14. I wonder if there's a more reliable unit. I could be wrong, people may just not know how to hook it up. I wonder if this works with LED strips too.
  15. I'm looking to have individual LED VU meters based on certain frequencies. I.E. strip 1 does 20Hz, strip 2 does 25Hz, strip 3 does 31Hz, etc. sort of like an equalizer on a home stereo or DJ system.
  16. Alright, some progress. Going to start working on the real final box tomorrow. Built two previous ones, both didn't come out so well, so I'm going to do it the right way this time. Final dimensions will be 32" W x 22.5" D x 16" H, 4 cubes tuned to 32Hz. Subs are still being broken in, slowly but surely. As a sampler, here's a front view of what the box will look like.
  17. Uh oh, crazy man + liquor. Not a good combo Merry Christmas dude! Make sure you give Lexus a call and wish them Happy Holidays (damn political correctness) for giving you a chance to spend it with your family.
  18. Sub up? Port up? It's going to be VERY difficult to fit 6 15's on any of the surfaces. If you do manage, it's going to be extremely tight.
  19. No, it will explode and you will get sucked in a giant black hole. In seriousness, the stock wiring will be fine. Just add extra wire as sani stated with the big 3 for a stereo.
