  1. It's a bit high, but who knows it could be worth it. My Grand Prix had about 130k on it and we got it for 3500 from the dealer. Negotiate him a bit, maybe trade stuff you dont use and he could be looking for? No fanboy here, but the reliability on the Pontiac's has definitely impressed me. My dad's Grand Prix is still going strong, mines working great, my friend's Sunfire took so much punishment before he sold it, and it still worked great (just needed a fuel pump). Our neighbor still uses their Montana after like 11 or 12 years.
  2. Well, as some of you may know, I have bought some DJ/band gear over the summer, and tomorrow is the first time I get to put it to use. Did have dual 15" towers, but am selling those and now have a set of Peavey single 15" cabinets that sound 3x better, with Yamaha 18" subs, and 4 12" monitors. It will be for a pep rally at school, so about 750-900 students in the bleachers of the football field, should be interesting to see how it goes. Wish me luck!
  3. I just watched an episode of "Cops" where a guy got kicked outta a bar then he bailed outta a taxi and the cops chased him, and when he asked what he was under arrest for, the cop replies "for being stupid". I gotta have this clip for my text tone. Can anyone help me find the clip, or an audio clip, if possible? Thanks!
  4. Sometimes I want to kick people in the face who think 2 12" Pioneer's from walmart, or 4 old 15" Pyle subs in a cheap built box are louder than my two Alpine Type S 12's ported + MRP-M650 amp. I hear them all day saying "GET A REAL SYSTEM" yet when I pull up beside them and they try to bump, I turn my shit up and they quickly go down, and fall behind fast. Sorry, my shit isn't the greatest, but I believe what my dad says, and he thinks it should be legal to attach TOW missiles onto your front bumper to shoot at stupid people.
  5. Do what my dad did for cheap bass. $60 JVC Walmart sub, $30 sealed box, $100 2ch amplifier, $20 amp kit. Lol
  6. Congrats. Jeez, kindgergarten, seems so long ago (12 years to be exact lol).
  7. Any idea if Alpine's sound better inverted? I'm thinking about flopping my Type S's around just for kicks now.
  8. I had the same thing happen, except with two sets of subs, one hooked up and one not hooked up...Dunno if maybe there's enough going there that it moves them...maybe I'm completely full of myself, I don't know...
  9. Seems like recently with every Promo Only Rhythm/Mainstream CD I get, a few more hip hop/rap artists are going towards club-type beats. I.E. Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me". I may not be paying attention very well, but I don't know how many of you listen to the more mainstream stuff...opinions?
  10. My stepdad has a Suzuki Katana 600, and my dad has a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200cc, but I have nothing. We're looking into getting me a good small bike to train myself on (unfortunately never rode dirtbikes or anything because my parents were strict at the time..). I just need something simple (but street legal) so I can learn how to ride one, how to change gears, etc. I rode my stepdads Katana around the apartment complex yard for a few minutes, so I know how to ride one, but just need to learn how to change gears, etc. What do you guys think?
  11. Forget if it was DUI/DWI related, but a 15 year old was riding shotgun in a car with a non-licensed teenage driver, on slick roads, ended up going around a bend and ran into a building. Needless to say, the girl died, the boy has no more life, and a lot of people are extremely depressed and pissed at the same time.
  12. I've been wanting to get a nice projector to use for my DJ business for movies/presentations/etc. I've got a 20ft truss setup that I can use for a screen, and at a max height of 11ft, does about a 16:9 ratio, but the only issue is I want it to be able to be easily visible at that height (at least indoors) but I need one as cheap as possible. Anyone know where I can find one to suit this, or if someone has one used that I am able to buy? Thanks
  13. Let me know how it goes. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my GP GT.
  14. Update: Subs came in Thursday morning, they're light as hell! Only about 80 pounds apiece loaded, and it's 2x2x2ft, ported. Not extremely deep bass, but real punchy and clear on an EP4000. Also, I went to a car show today to help the guy set up his smaller system (all Kustom and Peavey gear) as well, and he gave me a huge collection of 50's-80's music, some 90's, and a lot of country new and old. Now sitting at about 17,500 songs (opposed to about 8,000). Pics: Will be doing full setup tomorrow/tomorrow night, so expect vids.
  15. I guess Behringer's promoting them or something. I got one for every B-ger product I got. Hm, not a bad idea... F**K YOU >_> sike. Yeah, that's one thing I hate. Definitely to the amp rack. Two EP-series amps, another 30-odd pound amp, crossover & power conditioner, I'd say at minimum 150 pounds, and only two handles to carry them with. Everything was hooked up & working today, just waiting for my subwoofers to get here. Next step up will definitely be JTR Growlers though.
  16. Well, everything got here today, from KS to KY, in under 2 days. Everything is here, aside from the Yamaha subwoofers, which are coming in on special delivery. I had to leave for Dayton for the weekend, but once I'm back in town, sunday night, everything's going up. till then, some pics. And a little surprise from Behringer...5 pieces from Behringer (1 amp, 2 comp/limiters, 1 crossover, & 1 EQ.
  17. Dunno how accurate this is, and your cars only 5 years old so it shouldnt be that bad, but check your wheel bearings. Mine were bad and it would make a horrid noise going into right turns. Now with new bearings the noise is gone. Mind you I'm in an 01 GP GT
  18. I had a ton of noise through my subs at one point till I got a cheap $15 ground loop isolator from walmart. It's cheap, but it works, at least it should...
  19. I didn't have the Bose system in my car (had the Delco h/u) but my front door speakers sound great for the time being, even being stock. Make sure you have them properly crossed over, I have mine cut off at around 120hz, on both the HU & the amp, and all four speakers will get loud. Since you already went to walmart, if you can, get yourself a 4ch Dual amp and wire it for mids/highs. That's what I did. If you don't want to rip the doors apart to run the wires, run the front wire outputs up behind the h/u and splice them in.
  20. Mixer and speaker-wise, I do. But processing & amp-wise, they've really vamped up. My EP2500 has been going strong for almost a year, and the dual 15 band EQ we had with the band I worked with worked flawlessly.
  21. Alright, well I took step one today towards buying my new PA system. Phase 1 was to go through my old setup and find the useful stuff, and buy my new top speakers. I bought them used from my friend who owns a "teen club" (I'm glad i quit there, it's gone to crap). $300 later, I have a set of Kustom KSC 215H dual 15" PA speaker with new Peavey RX14's put in them. Only issue is one speaker has a bad connection to the tweeter output on the crossover, so I had to do some wire changing, but you can hardly tell a difference. Right now, I have these on a EP2500 from Behringer, plenty of power at 750w a side (4ohm speakers, 300w RMS, 600w cont), with a RS dual 15 band EQ for the time being. Phase two: Buy the main setup, which will include; Mackie 1604-VLZ3 16-Channel Mixer LiveWire 16-Channel TRS/XLR In, 4 TRS Return Snake Behringer FBQ3102 Dual 31-band EQ (on mains) Behringer MDX2600 Compressor/Limiter (on mains) Behringer MDX4600 Compressor/Limiter (for compression w/ inserts necessary Behringer CX3410 3-way Stereo Crossover (will be in 2-way stereo for mains) 4 Kustom KPC12M monitors on Phonic Max 1000 Amplifier Yamaha SW118V 18" Sub Pair Behringer EP4000 Amplifier (Subs) EV Cobalt 7 6-Pack vocal mics w/ stands & cables CAD Pro-7 7-Piece Drum Mic Kit Lighting Package 1 (8 Par-38's, relay packs, & controller) 10 10-Pack 20ft XLR mic cables 10 30ft 1/4" Instrument Cables Musician's Gear 6-space (Processing Gear) & 8-space (Amp) Racks Total of the system will probably be costing me about $6k. It's all budget, I don't feel like building speakers myself or buying used, but what I will need it for won't be for 35,000 people, just local bands and DJ gigs and such. Right now, just the dual 15's sound amazing by themselves, but the rest altogether will sound incredible. Will definitely post pics and vids once I get it all. Also, pics to proove I'm working on it. It may be a while till I get everything, so feel free to discuss. First pic, the dual 15's at the foot of my tiny bed. (It's only sitting like 6 inches above the floor. Second pic is the temporary DJ mixer I borrowed from my friend, the RS dual 15 band EQ that will go on the monitor mix, and the EP2500. I hate living in an apartment complex though... >
  22. Haha you think I would bum money off you guys? You got a good idea going there...haha The light packages are for bands only, flood lighting. I will get some LED FX lighting as time goes on. But in all seriousness, how does that sound for a "Budget" system? I would go with higher quality gear like JBL or Mackie, but don't have the cash My dad will be paying for it via a Music123 credit card. I know it's not a big 7ft Meadetower, but it will get the job done.
  23. I've finally decided to take the all-important step into talking my dad into buying gear to open a live sound business locally. There are very few around here and those that do charge ridiculous prices. I'm hoping to get into the gigging scene as my parents (mom n stepdad) have started going to a few bars locally and chatted with the owners. Money is the key to the deal, but hopefully my dad will be able to pump that out, as he has high hopes. Here's what I've settled on from music123 so far. 1 Behringer SX2442FX Mixer #638005 - $499.99 1 Behringer A500 Monitor Amp #480780 - $199.99 1 Behringer EP2500 Main Amp (Already Have) 1 Behringer EP4000 Sub Amp #582002 - $349.99 4 Kustom KPC12M Monitors #600818 - $479.96 2 Kustom KSC215H 2x15" Cabinets #600820 - $599.98 2 Peavey RX14 Comp Drivers for KSC215H (Already Have) 2 Behringer B1800X Subwoofers #600703 - $699.98 1 Behringer MDX4600 Comp/Limiter #182474 - $129.99 1 Behringer CX3400 Crossover #182464 - $129.99 1 Behringer FBQ3102 Equalizer #182487 - $129.99 2 Furman M-8LX Power Conditioner #181046 - $179.90 1 EV Cobalt 7 Microphone 6-Pack #582467 - $329.99 1 Digital Reference DR-DM7 Drum Mic Kit #270458 - $199.99 4 Musician's Gear 1/4" - 1/4" Speaker Cable 12ga 50ft #500522 302 103 - $119.96 2 Musician's Gear Speakon - 1/4" Speaker Cable 14ga 50ft #584161 103 - $79.98 2 Musician's Gear Lo-Z Microphone Cable 20ft 10-Pack #338006 - $98.80 4 Musician's Gear Low-Z Mic Cable 50ft #361707 103 - $71.96 2 Musician's Gear Speakon - Speakon Cable 14ga 50ft #584160 103 - $79.98 1 Musician's Gear Instrument Cable 30ft 10-pack #360607 #69.90 2 Hosa 8-Pack Cables 1ft 1/4" - $29.98 1 Musician's Gear Rack Fly Case 6 Space Black #541797 499 001 - $89.99 1 Musician's Gear Rack Fly Case 8 Space Black #541797 500 001 - $99.99 Subtotal: $4,670.28 / 12 = $389.19/month ITW: Lighting Stage Lighting System 1 #801700 x 2 = $998.98 American DJ CGS-7 Gel Pack #800627 x 4 = $15.96 Total Est. Cost: $5776.22 / 12 = $481.35/month I'm changing the stock Kustom drivers out for RX14's so they won't blow so easy. My buddy had 4 of the dual 15's and all 4 tweeters blew within 3 weeks of band gigging. Two of the 4 got new tweeters, and it sounded 10x better.
  24. I'm working on getting me a PA setup to use for local bands and such. The only problem is my amp rack will be heavy as a youknowwhat. I had an idea to take some wood boards, cut one about 5 feet, the other about 10 feet, each with a simple curved surface to it, kind of as a ramp that will worth both ways. The only thing is it needs to support about 200 pounds of weight on wheels. What wood would be the best quality for a job like this? Thanks.
