  1. You guys are getting loud May have to schedule something to come to one of your events!
  2. I'll have to get some pics as well - the Excessive Amperage alts look good with the powder coated blue finish.
  3. Second alternator is ON. Need to get two more batteries in then we'll work on getting the 3000Ds in there.
  4. Once the 2000Ds hit production there will be plenty to go around - I will likely offer a pre-sale on them as well. Expect them a bit later in the year.
  5. Pricing will be right in between the 1500D (599) and 1000D (399)... so around $499 MSRP. As usual you'll need to talk to your dealer for best pricing. I may also run an intro sale with pricing TBA!
  6. 1/2 nominal with a rise to the 1s impedance wise. Rated power is 2000 watts @ 1 ohm, 1000 watts @ 2 ohms, and 500 watts @ 4 ohms.
  7. Would do pretty well - just don't try to play them above 200 Hz
  8. One issue is this... I don't want to make it with a stock heat-sink. The 5k is wider than my other amps and would require a heat-sink tooling to match the rest of the SAZ line. Just not worth doing unless I make a full run. I would also want to make some changes to the layout to reduce vibration related failures as well - same changes I'll be making to my 1500s, 2000s (doing so before the first one is even made), and 3000s in the near future. It would be especially critical for amps bigger than the 3k since the weight of the parts is so high at that point board flex becomes a real issue.
  9. The 5k was voted the most - it needed 40 pre-orders. So far there are six. If the list doesn't fill up the 5k won't be made this year.
  10. Still have until the end of the month Maybe everyone is holding out!
  11. http://www.sundownaudio.com/us.html Any of the dealers on this page sell new amplifiers, you have five online and quite a few local dealers to choose from - the only one selling any refurbs is dB-r.com as they are my authorized repair center (they also recently became authorized for new amps as well). I also sell used, b-stock, and refurbs direct on my forum - but not new amplifiers. This is why you see them listed here on my forum and on ***.
  12. Indeed, the 1200D has impressed me so far. I'm pretty excited to get them out and see what customers think about them when they get their hands on them! Should be ready in 60-90 days!
  13. 6) Several used SAZ-1500Ds - $360 shipped * Used by Team Sundown members * Good to Excellent Condition * 1-year warranty Added today... have several of these.
  14. It's only the "higher end" model RCAs and only sometimes will it cause a problem. The center pins in the fancy cables seem to not make good contact. A nice, inexpensive, cable always works great.
  15. Fred could require an external fuse @ 200 amps from an off the shelf brand, eg: Stinger, Audiopipe, etc. If any one brand fuse is winning a suspicious percentage then it's rating could be contested. Pretty simple but, IMO, it won't happen in nSPL.
  16. IMO... it's dishonest. Whether Fred would allow it or not is not the question, I don't think it's right. The amp draws ~300 or more amps of current at full output and does not belong in a 200 amp class for beginners. If it did they would call it a 300 amp class.
  17. Two 1500Ds strapped is good for 3000 @ 2 ohms. They aren't quit THAT underrated to do it from one amp *laughs* The whole SAE amp line will have this look, the SAX and SAZ will remain as always.
  18. My build house did it based on my sketch and requirements, so unfortunately I couldn't tell you
  19. Indeed - seems to be the case in nSPL lately. I rate my current draw for what size fuse a customer can reasonably expect to require - and since I don't manufacture my own fuses it has to work with an off the shelf Stinger or other brand. Unfortunately, the rules in nSPL don't differentiate actual current draw and what is written on a fuse or in the manual. In any event, the 2000D should be pretty competitive.
  20. Class A/B amps aren't incredibly efficient by nature, the 61% on your P450.5 is fairly normal. Have you already purchased the 200-amp alternator? If I was you I would start there and see how it goes. By swapping amps you may drop a few % amperage draw but likely not enough to eliminate your voltage drops and light dimming.
  21. It'll be out later in the year - I'd estimate October to November. I've tested them around 2900 watts or so on burps @ 1/2 nominal.
