  1. I like it ! Send Drugban over here to do my install *laughs*
  2. Putting fancy coatings, colors, or even different cone / dust cap material would hurt performance (paper is still one of the best cone materials out there). Same goes for the surround -- a rolled surround would hurt performance. As for the frame -- again, no performance gain, and the motor is a super light Neo so no structural need whatsoever. The goal was to provide a no nonsense high efficiency / strong mid-bass driver at the best cost we could. I will consider making an even higher end unit if these sell well.
  3. If it's an old 40.1 there is almost a 100% chance it's not under warranty -- so if that is a concern the 3500D may be more ideal for your situation.
  4. IA has sold alot more amps than we have -- so that is a bit erroneous to say that everyone has SA and IA is different In any event -- the 40.1 is a more powerful amp than the 3500D. The original was a ~5k amp and the new one is over 6k IIRC.
  5. I am working on alot of other things too -- these just got done / ready to produce first It's hard to make an efficient tweeter that isn't too honky... but I'll see what I can do.
  6. Regardless of what your boss might think the SAZ-1500D is a proven amp - worldwide... the v.1 was sold for four years and has done VERY well. The v.2 is a further improvement on that. If you can get photos of all connections and setting that would be helpful as I mentioned before.
  7. For reference -- this is the stock spider on the upcoming Z v.3 line of woofers... a couple sizes due in the summer (likely 15s and 18s). The 10 and 12 have a similar unit for the 7" landing so we have more room for the cone to move around with rubbing the spiders -- despite the small diameter it has large rolls to allow a good bit of throw. The 15 inch model sits on the 8" landing and allows even more throw. Finally the 18 inch has the larger landing so we used it -- this spider can top 40mm one-way throw so really lets the 18s get down I decided to use it to re-build this NS v.2 for a local customer as he is tuned super low and has a 3500D on the sub so the more throw the better!
  8. That explains all the hits! Thanks
  9. I added those as some customer don't want frame venting for depth and/or other reasons (either no nuts on the 18" or requesting 4-spokes and no spacers on smaller units) -- so we can still get some air in there Motor force factory wasn't really affected in reality as it met simulations so I was pleased in that regard.
  10. The NS v.2 line has a very long 3" coil -- 71mm winding length, which is nearly 3" of wire. This results in 27mm of linear travel and the coil can't leave the gap until 55.5mm -- which is impossible as it will bottom out at 44.5mm; which takes a CRAP LOAD of power to reach.
  11. We have parts for NS v.2s but not the motors -- he already had a motor. I can explain the former cap a bit more in email... I've noticed quite a bit of copy-catting going on so I'll have to stop educating my competitors I suppose
  12. *laughs* It is getting there... wait until I get the larger frames tooled in the "X" line and get some really big spiders on stuff... that will be fun.
  13. Basically watch the Z v.3 18" video and add a bit more to that -- as the prototype Z v.3 motor only had ~38mm or so clearance so we bottomed it out before hitting the 40s.
  14. Made for local customer -- thought it would be fun to use the Z v.3 spider on the NS v.2 -- we have about 44.5mm of motor clearance and this spider will allow you to reach it. Pretty impressive to see free air I also am experimenting with a former cap as he is running high power. The cap will enhance the effectiveness of our coil cooling setup. Once I get the dust cap glued I'll run specs -- it is still pretty fresh but I gave it a nice run free air before gluing on the former cap.
  15. "Neo-Pro Prototype 10 in a small sealed box in our shop for demo purposes. First with tweeter and relatively steep subsonic -- then with no tweeter on full range top-end and minimal subsonic filtering. Obviously my Casio camera microphone isn't the most accurate so there is a good bit of microphone distortion especially when close to the speaker."
  16. Also... our test HU has maybe 2v pre-outs (old Sony) so they don't require a ton of RCA juice.
  17. Indeed... some photos of the wiring and knobs are in order. Each amp is tested before leaving here on a pair of Nightshades and we would notice if it wasn't loud
  18. Yes -- which you can do with the SAX-125.2, SAX-100.4, or SAX-200.4 -- all can band-pass crossover these. so you have to use 2 channels on 2 of these and 2 channels on the tweets? Right.
  19. Yes -- which you can do with the SAX-125.2, SAX-100.4, or SAX-200.4 -- all can band-pass crossover these.
  20. Andy has my prototypes right now -- I'll have all that stuff when they get back.
  21. I haven't started on the 6.5" yet -- need to put some thought to it as it'll be hard to get a decent sensitivity and good mid-basss.
  22. Andy, Can you post up specific thoughts in this thread ? Especially compared to other drivers you have used -- will be helpful to have it together for pre-ordering.
  23. I will open it up soon as production has already started a few weeks back. The holiday in China will slow us down a bit so I want a better ETA before putting it out there.
  24. Eric has heard the prototype -- they are super loud and quite clean. I am sure Andy will share his experience as well.
