  1. IMO... when talking on the phone you cannot give your attention to someone while doing something else. Most of what we do is either loud (testing amps / taping up boxes) or requires full attention (building woofers)... or for that matter we may be a hundred feet from a phone over in the warehouse section. Hence why I prefer as much email contact as possible and as little phone contact as possible. If we answered every call we would be on the phone 8 hours a day and nobody would get their orders -- so it's not that we don't appreciate our customers or that we don't want to talk to them, we just cannot answer the phone for the entire work day. I am hoping to bring in a full time "office person" at some point next year once we move into our new facility... so then calling won't be so much of an issue.
  2. I am going to bump this up... phone call volume is up probably 1000% in the last 2 months and we honestly cannot answer it most of the time. We are VERY busy and don't have a dedicated person whose job is just to answer phones. If you cannot reach ME via email then try Brandon -- [email protected] This way you won't be waiting on me for a long time if I'm backed up.
  3. The SA line is mostly sold out right now... we only have SA-10 D4 in our warehouse at this time. We have more SA-8s both ways and SA-10 D2 due in 3-4 weeks. We have all other SA sizes and configurations in large quantity due in November. ----- Our distributor in Iowa, Top Dog Audio, has some SA woofers in stock. WoofersEtc.com also has stock on most configurations of the SA line right now as well.
  4. w00t -- DJ is a good guy... been with us as a rep / team member almost since the beginning.
  5. I have seen gains moving wires completely out of ports... as much as 0.3 in my "Magic Box" -- but it has no effect on this one. Email to [email protected] works well.
  6. It was identical with or without the wires and tape and also without the second battery in back -- last night I had only the NSB in there and it was exactly the same.
  7. This setup does keep gaining with power... with the full length ports (which are 1.8 down at this power level) I have done a 154.7 before with this same setup running two 3500Ds @ 0.25 each. I plan to try more power after the show... and eventually to try four Z v.2 12s with single spiders. I tried some Nightshades a while back with 3 spiders and it was actually quieter than the SA-12s -- so I think this box needs a much softer compliance.
  8. Planning to run this setup for nSPL Finals this weekend... needed to stay under 5000 watts on the nSPL clamp meters. On my meter it clamped exactly 4000 watts last night which should be 4700-5000 on their clamps. Tuning is in the high 30s and peaks at 47 Hz... tuned to 30 Hz and also peaking at 47 Hz it was about 1.8 dB quieter but still not bad at all, IMO. I plan to try cutting the ports down a bit more to see if I can get a tad more from it on the meter... may or may not get that done before the Finals event. Best score with just me in the Jeep was 153.8 and with Nick from Stereo Integrity in it as well we got 154.0 dB -- sealed on the dash. * One SAZ-4500D chilling out on my amp rack. Running at 0.25 ohms for burps -- re-wires to 1 ohm for daily. * 3x 6" Aero-Ports... box is a hair over 6 cubes with my shortened ports. Almost exactly 6 cubes with full length ports. Team Sundown Derrick build this box for me. * One NSB-G3100 in this corner. * Added an XS Power D3100 this morning... score did not increase but my voltage doesn't drop as bad on burps and I'll be able to play music longer of course! * Standard DEKA starting battery. * External voltage regulator. * Excessive Amperage 225-amp alternator. Have been running this for about 2 years now.

  10. If you are in a country with no distributor you can order. For outside the USA customers are responsible for shipping both ways in case of warranty so it can get expensive -- but if you are okay with that we can do it.
  11. SAZ-3500Ds SOLD OUT -- the special will remain as a PRE-ORDER as we have more coming with all the new amps. Really amazing how fast those went... I am very surprised.
  12. Team Sundown member Walt from South Carolina. 4x Stock SA-12 D4s 2x SAZ-4500Ds I do not suggest doing this to your SA-12s but Walt has been doing it for a while Video of perfect run :
  13. I'm feeling better -- emails are a bit backed up... by the time I get the current emails done and work done I haven't had time to go back and answer older ones. But I'm working on it.
  14. When they are assembled you can -- the tooling JUST finished so I got some pictures right from the injection molding plant.
  15. You can tune anywhere from 30 to 40 Hz and get good results.
  16. The suspension on the SA series is ridiculously over-built to be honest... we could clip a 1500D free air at 1 ohm and not break one mechanically.
  17. They almost fit 4 awg... they are huge.
  18. They are all somewhat high rolls -- not really dramatic high rolls except for the 18" model which is pretty high.
  19. People seem to want them but IMO the motor is simply not strong enough... we would be talking Qts in the 0.7 to 0.8 range which is way too high, IMO, except for IB usage.
  20. This is what I don't like about the black paint finish : It's not noticeable on the SA line with relatively small back and top plates -- but when you get plates this thick it shows up. The black paint also sometimes gets messed up a bit in shipping as it occasionally is not 100% cured and the plastic packing bag will mess up the finish by leaving crinkle marks on it. Minor, yes, but it bugs me... especially on a larger and more expensive driver like this.
  21. It would be a bit much to have two different finishes as we'll already have a few 100 of each size stocked. I am sure Dave (PSI) can custom paint one for people later on during a re-cone, though.
  22. New prototypes are done along with magnet boot, triple joint ring, and frame spacer toolings -- I should have them in a month or so for testing : * Magnet boot similar to SA line... I am trying out a chrome finish on these prototypes. It smooths out some of the machining marks so gives a more consistent finish on the final product than the black does. * Z v.3 10" Model * Z v.3 12" Model * Z v.3 15" Model * Z v.3 18" Model -- Yes, it uses the bigger spider landing. These were built with American coils as well -- so will reflect the final product.
