  1. * SAZ-1000D on left / SAX-1200D on right -- dual transformers and output inductors + new more powerful MOSFETs... all N channel outputs vs. N-P in the 1000D. * Side by side with 1000D for size reference. * Close up shot. This is a newly tooled board for Sundown Audio... been testing it for a while. The initial prototype was about 200-watts stronger than the 1000D as expected... but I went a step farther and used higher powered FETs and we are expecting around 500-watts more than the 1000D from it. MAP price is $60 more than the 1000D for ~500 watts extra power -- not too bad if I say so myself Expected pricing on the SAX-800D will be a little under the SAZ-1000D for similar power output in reality (this model has NOT yet been started... so please don't ask for an ETA). I'll get testing up on the revised prototype when I get my hands on it -- so far my testing has been on the first prototype. SAZ designation not used as it is not 16v stable. These CAN be strapped. Pre-ordering will open shortly... ETA is end of July as they are coming in with the SAZ-2500D. Remember... if you need an SAZ-1000D I have a production run coming soon (see the May sale thread) -- that will be the last of them. So get one if you need one. I don't want to see a bunch of threads complaining like I saw with the 2000D being cut - so fair warning!
  2. Yes they do. Unfortunately I don't have any extras.
  3. The aluminum coil is significantly lighter so FS increases - sacrificing a little bit of low-end response.
  4. Close -- starts at 2037 watts and plays for over a minute dropping down to 1222 watts before failure. I paused the frame right when the meter started to read and paused again right before it cut off.
  5. As the coil gets hotter the resistance increases and thus current drops. Simple
  6. In this case it is reading amps -- multiply by 120 volts to get the power.
  7. The aluminum coils are USA made so handle a higher temperature... they cost $20 extra on a re-cone (only available on re-cones).
  8. Did the amp keep playing with no load connected the whole time ?
  9. No, we perform most of the break-in before shipping when testing on the bench. About 90% of which happens in the first 30 seconds we test.
  10. That is the E8 -- the SA-8 has 16.5mm
  11. Little more clamping: 2110 watts = 150.8 dB on the dash 2080 watts = 153.0 dB in the kick
  12. SA-8s are sold out temporarily. Got word that the next run is actually almost done being built... so that pushing my ETA up from 60 days to more like 45 days now.
  13. Me too... as I really need them in stock for dealers - not to mention for pre-orders.
  14. Bad news... shipping delay = early June for delivery.
  15. Dan is a great resource... learned ALOT from him years ago when he was active online.
  16. Suggestion for higher frequency for more SPL output -- use shorter tubes on the ports. Since the port is also very close to the back of the vehicle this also lowers effective frequency. First try 1/2 the length and test frequency and then adjust from this point.
  17. Updated ETA is the 20th - roughly. Amps got stuck in customs for x-ray so it is putting delays on them.
  18. Read about it in a book from the library in college, so no, I don't... but they used to do it WAY back in the day when permanent magnets were expensive.
